1.Yep...cheap shot 2. 6 personal fouls, get 2 TO's and have a penalty to negate them and then have a coach go 4 it when u punt and make them earn it by going 80-90 yds 3. Way 2 show only part of the sentence....Hoyer won the game didnt he?
First off Stopper (or is it Stupor?), I never said the defense was great. I just wizzed in your bowl of corn flakes over your imbecilic opinion that Locker would drop 40+ on the Browns. First, the dude is barely over the 50% completion mark on the year and has a QBR of 60.7. Sure, the Browns made him look like Peyton Manning in the first half, same as they did Whitehurst as well (he threw 2 TD's before the half). As for your "Scrambling Theory", I call BS. In such a small sample size of the stats this year, it can be argued that Whitehurst and Locker are just about equal. So where was this scrambling going on. As for the defense, call it whatever you like: either the defense did step up, the Titans imploded, or a little of both. As for my argument, the Steelers were a much better team and they couldn't put up 40+ with their starting QB still on the field. So I highly doubt that the Titans' version of Brandon Weeden was going to do any such thing. Try posting something based on facts and not rely so much on those rectal-cranial inversion opinions you flout so loudly.
lol! It's an effort in futility duff....Never mind that we went down to the wire with Big Ben and Flacco. Never mind that we beat Drew Brees.... We had NO CHANCE against the great Jake Locker. Surely he was going to hang 40 on us, even though the others never sniffed that....and btw, there is no explanation needed. Stopper says so, so it's so.
Anybody old enough to remember the Cleveland Browns Kardiac Kid era (1978-80), has to be feeling a little deja vu with the way this season has gone so far for the Cleveland Browns. Blue collar smashmouth offensive line...A coach that "gets" and understands the fan base....Solid running game...Rag tag over achieving bunch of WR's with a pro bowl TE.....Gritty and savvy QB that is the heart and soul of the team....Leaky defense that scares the hell out of ya....And they go down to the final seconds every freakin week! Yes. The similiarities are many....All I can say is, that's the reason I fell in love with this team in the first place. If this turns out to be as much fun as the original version, then Browns fans are in for a helluva ride...Let's just go ahead and get "red right 88" out of the playbook now though anyways. just in case.
Right there with you TD. I think Pettine's on board too, based on his comment after the game. By the way both were QB's by a Brian. This is spooky......... and Halloween is right around the corner. oooooooooooooooooooooo.................
Can we get a modicum of civility here? Just because you whole-heartedly disagree with showstopper doesn't mean you have to try and tear him down all the time. I don't think anyone is comparing Locker and Manning... or Locker and anyone decent for that matter. However, one of his assets is his mobility and he converted several plays and made others happen as a result of it. The hypothesis wasn't that he would become a perennial All-Pro pocket passer, but rather that perhaps Tennessee converts one third down in the second half if Locker can scramble and make a play. As for a mobility comparison? Really?! Locker has 609 career rushing yards (6.7 average) whereas Whitehurst only has 103 career yards (2.6 average). And we're going all the way back to the start. Locker's numbers until injury forced him out of the game: 8 of 11 passing (73%) for 79 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT for a 122.9 QB rating 34 rushing yards on 4 attempts (8.5 YPC) and 1 TD Locker was playing extraordinarily well against a defense that clearly had no answer for him besides injury. If Pettine is to be believed, the Browns made zero second-half adjustments on defense. The reasonableness test checks out pretty quick -- if Locker hadn't been hurt, the Browns could have been in trouble. The whole argument circles back to this: instead of patting ourselves on the back for beating a very, very bad Titans team, how about we realize we stole one with a lot of luck and need to improve on several fronts before taking on our rivals -- and a much better team -- this Sunday?
Just looking at this years stats SAS, they have 11 and 18 rushing attempts between them with a 7 and and 5.8 or so average. Not a whole lot to judge on just based on what they are doing this year. Actually civility would be comprised of Stopper not taking a dump all over everyone else and their (not always, but most of the time) stat based opinions with absolutely nothing but unfounded opinions to argue with. And Stopper not simply dismissing others' ideas because they don't fall in line with Stoppers' own misguided beliefs. Hate to be blunt but that was relatively easy to see. It was rather a simile, however I must have forgotten the ....as well as.... in order to make that clear. Simply an expression to say Locker appeared to be playing as well as the likes of Manning, Brady, Brees, et al. who seem to be the upper echelon of what we constantly love to refer to as "Franchise QB's." And yet Whitehurst tossed 2 TD's of his own against the Browns and it appeared they had no answer for him either going into the locker room at half time. For example: Two of Whitehurst's first three passes went for TDs, with the second a career long of 75 yards to Justin Hunter for a 28-3 lead late in the first half.
SAS, how dare you interject reason into this argument. Have you no shame? Yep fate played a part in this one, and no apologies here. We've been on the other side of that too many times, That said the Browns took advantage of the opportunity and made the plays to score, and made the plays on D that kept the opponent impotent for 30 minutes. Those too are facts. Not flawless, not pretty, not even efficient at times, but finding a way to win has been sadly lacking and because of that this one was gem, Absolutely cannot survive the season riding this roller coaster, but the rush of pulling this one off is sweet.
Then you may as well chalk all Stopper's posts up to hyperbole. I chalk it up to his unfounded absolutism.
OK, I have a question... With the prospects of Haden being out due to injury this week against the Steelers...and, oh yeah, the fact our secondary has been rather pitful... WHY IN THE HELL AREN'T THE BROWNS WORKING OUT CHAMP BAILEY?? No, instead the Ravens are.. He certainly can't be worse..
Hey! Where's my free jersey? I hit the Home Town Favorite level and I want my doggone free jersey under my Avi.
