OK and Cinci goes down 34 to 10 in Hoodieland.

Take out Pitt, and let's dance.

  2. This cant b serious....ur already looking at the division after week 5...so if Cincy won 2nite...they won the division? LOL

  3. kendawg Guest

Stopper, relax man. Let a Browns fan enjoy a moment of joy. Try it once in a while. Winning is a "good thing", and it can even be contagious.

Do you dispute that the 4 games ahead represent the best opportunity to make some hay?

Have you ever seen a silver lining?

    Browns WIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe they can make it a habit.

  4. I have no problem w u enjoying the moment, but 2 b worried bout Cincy vs NE in week 5 is crazy IMO...how do u know Cincy doesnt lose 5 in a row and Balt wins 5 in a row after this week....this loss wuld mean nothing

  5. kendawg Guest

Oh by the way that's now, what. 3 game winning drives out of 7 games where Hoyer was the man pulling the trigger?

Man we gotta get rid of this guy, he just isn't clutch.

  6. Lets c he did it vs NO, Minny and Tenn(cream of the crop defenses)...since he gets all the credit put him out there by himself and c what he wuld do....nevermind he gets credited w a win when he leaves the game down 10-0....hes all world thats right...it had nothing to do w 6 personal foul calls, a blocked punt, 2 TO's that were negated by defensive/ST penalties, a QB injured and a HC that went for it on his side of the 50 leading by 6 pts w 3 mins 2 go in the game instead of punting lol

Have you considered "stand up" comedy, or is comedic writing your bag?

Oh and let add the hilarious LOL

    I surrender, Stopper.

Anyone who starts thinking about a divisional title being within reach at one game back is disturbed, so i will go on my merry way, delusional as it may be.

I'll enjoy the successes we have and dream of titles in my little corner of the net, while you piss on all of it. Don't care. Your session has ended, please see the receptionist on the way out. Goodnight.

  9. Im all bout the facts my man....I cant help it if u or other people cant c the whole truth...everything I stated was FACT

  10. 1 game back after 5 games when u play 16 is what Im saying....werent the Browns 1 game bak after week 1?

Ahhhhhh. I cringe at the personal stuff that goes on amongst the posters here. lol! ;) j.k.

I mean c'mon! did ya really think stopper wouldn't show up with an attempt to crap all over this? its like clockwork...

Greatest road comeback in NFL history...Third greatest regular season comeback of all time....and we almost pulled the same chit off in the opener in Pittsburgh. lol!

If nothing else, these Browns certainly have become an entertaining team to watch....The defense is shaky to say the least, but they do have heart, and it really does seem to revolve around Brian Hoyer. Dude is starting to make a habit of game winning drives in the final moments. It really is like watching Brian Sipe all over again...

Now it's time to win a division game....

  13. TopDawg Legend

Okay Joe Friday. Here's a fact. The Browns won another thriller, and even though we ALL know the Browns have issues that need to be addressed, it's okay to just enjoy a win...An epic historical NFL comeback win.

A win... that's about the only positive thing I think I can say about this one. This was an ugly game by two ugly teams. Some things that really jumped out to me...

    Jake Locker
I'm glad his injury isn't worse, but feel fortunate he had to miss the final two-thirds of that game. The Browns defense simply did not have an answer for him all game and while I thought the refs were a tad liberal with the laundry, penalties against the mobile quarterback clearly had defenders thinking twice before attacking.

    Travis Benjamin
True to my catch-phrase, as the Browns were setting up for Tennessee's first punt of the game, I angrily commented that Benjamin would fumble the punt and guess what happens. His time on special teams needs to be over immediately. That said, he really rose to the occasion and had two terrific grabs for touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

I don't think Ray Farmer was wrong to not address the wide receiver position on draft day... but I also don't think we have very good wide receivers.

    Joe Haden
Wow... is it too late to get a mulligan on that huge contract extension? Haden might be one of the worst players on the team right now and we've been down this road before. Confidence is huge at the cornerback position and once you lose it, you're toast. Eric Wright was supposedly the next "up-and-coming" cornerback at one point, too. All it took was a few severe beatings and he was never the game. Here's hoping he gets it figured out because he easily played the worst game of his professional career.

    K'Waun Williams
In a game with several huge plays, his might have been the biggest. The sack against Whitehurst in the final seconds sealed the deal for the Browns. How many times has the script gone the other way with the opposing QB avoiding the pressure and making a big play to bury the Browns?

Also of note, undrafted rookie Williams replaced Justin Gilbert (who played only a handful of snaps all game and did not register a single stat) at the nickel spot. Bust alert?

    Ben Tate
How refreshing is it to have an actually run game? After last season where we threw an inordinate number of times and couldn't muster an rushing attack, we have three guys who can effectively run the ball and Tate was dominant against an above-average run defense. This zone blocking scheme is working wonders and our offensive line seems custom-tailored to it.

    Gene Steratore
"You da' real MVP". Wow. Ugly, ugly game from a penalties standpoint and so many unusual situations. I expected Tennessee to be a filthy playing team -- always are, consistently voted as such -- but that was a bit much. Self-inflicted penalties by the Titans effectively handed the Browns the victory after the Browns beat themselves twice (interception, fumbled punt).

So many times the Browns get screwed by the referees but this game the refs not only got it right, but may have given a few to our side as well. The pass interference call on Hoyer's first interception was a bit of a a phantom that had it gone the other way would have had my remote through my TV. Over-turning the spot on the field leading to the huge fourth-down stand? Excellent.

    Brian Hoyer
As bad as he was in the first half, that's as good as he was in the second half. Hoyer (and the Browns in general) seem to start incredibly slow and flat in games. I don't know what the deal is, but he and the team showed resiliency in this one and ended up clawing out a win. The Browns cannot consistently win games in this fashion, however, so the team needs to figure out a rhythm and that starts with our QB orchestrating successful drives early and often.

I expected the normal drivel out of the Hoyalists? here, so nothing unusual there. This was a team win, just if the ball would have bounced the other way it would have been a team loss. But, Hoyer did come up big when we needed him this time and does deserve to be commended for that.

Tough to figure the Browns D. That's twice now we have seen them look like a high school team in the first half, only to bounce back and shut the opponent down in the second half...It's a Jekyl and Hyde act like I've never seen before. I'm not sure if I should give the coaches credit for making great halftime adjustments, or question why they start so poorly...Probably a little of both.

Like Lym mentioned, even when they got way behind, ya still felt like they were gonna make a game of it.... It was nice that most of the country got to see a great deal of the comeback thanks to the Red Zone channel. They were locked in on that game all afternoon. If the Browns are going to make any noise in the AFCN, they HAD to have it yesterday. In true Kardiac Kid style, they got it... Can't wait to see what happens in the re-match with Pittsburgh this Sunday. One thing is for sure. The Browns running game is as strong as its been around here in decades. Even in that putrid first half yesterday the Browns were still running the ball well. We all know this is going to be huge for Cleveland as the weather turns. Gotta be able to pound it in the AFCN, and the Browns are lookin strong there..

    NASHVILLE, TN

For once, the Browns crashed the NFL record books for something good.

What was shaping up as one of the team?s most abysmal performances in history turned into a record-breaking comeback win for the ages.

Overcoming a 25-point deficit in the second quarter, the Browns scored 26 unanswered points to escape with a 29-28 victory over the shell-shocked Tennessee Titans.

It marked the largest comeback win on the road in NFL history, besting seven other comebacks of 24 points. Counting post-season games, this was the fifth-largest comeback win of all time.

The mother of all comebacks ? from 32 points down ? was Buffalo?s epic playoff win in 1993 against the Houston Oilers, forerunners to the Titans.

It couldn?t have happened without the Titans? help. They obliged with some southern hospitality that the Haslam family, natives of Knoxville, TN, could appreciate.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam sat with his brother, William, governor of Tennessee, in a suite overlooking LP Field as this high-stakes sibling rivalry for NFL supremacy in the state unfolded.

?We didn?t talk about the importance of this one to him, but I?m no dummy,? said coach Mike Pettine, ?I do know it was important to him. It was special for all of us, but to get the win in his home state was something special.?

A comeback of this magnitude is made possible only by a long list of heroes and goats.

On the Tennessee side, two of the Titans? seven penalties wiped out Browns? turnovers in the third and fourth quarters, and coach Ken Whisenhunt?s decision to try a quarterback sneak on fourth down with a 28-22 lead and 3:03 left was questioned immediately. It failed and led to the Browns? winning drive.

The list of Browns? heroes should include:

    * Travis Benjamin. Benched from the punt return team after fumbling a punt in the third quarter (Tennessee?s penalty on gunner Marqueston Huff caused a re-kick), Benjamin made beautiful catches in the end zone for each of the final two touchdowns.

Afterwards, quarterback Brian Hoyer said he thought he overthrew both passes. Benjamin pulled in the first one with both hands above his head with 6:49 left. On the second one, Benjamin left his feet and reached again above his head at the back of the end zone with 1:09 to play.

?I grabbed him when he came off after the fumbled punt and said, ?Hey, hang in there. Do your job. If you have a chance to make a play, make a play,?? Pettine said. ?It?s obvious he lacks confidence in the punt return game.

?To me, that?s a microcosm of the team. Here?s a guy who had something bad happen to him and he didn?t go in the tank.?

    * Christian Yount. The embattled long snapper fought off his demons of past erraticism, beat out a challenger during the practice week, and was flawless on all snaps, including on the game-winning extra point by Billy Cundiff, which, we?ve learned already, is not automatic.

?It was automatic in my mind,? Pettine said, feigning a smile. ?Another example of the strength of character in the room.?

    * Brian Hoyer. In the middle of the comeback, down by 28-15, Hoyer was intercepted by Jason McCourty, who returned the ball all the way to the Browns? 1-yard line. Offsetting penalties nullified it. But Hoyer?s streak of no interceptions ? dating to Sept. 22, 2013 ? finally, officially, was stopped when safety Michael Griffin stole a deep pass for Andrew Hawkins on third-and-10.

?I thought it was just as good as a punt,? Hoyer said with a shrug.

Then on the Browns? final possession forced by the defense?s fourth-down stop of White, Hoyer completed 3 of 3 passes for 35 yards, including the touchdown to Benjamin, on the winning drive.

?I knew we had it in us,? Hoyer said of the comeback, referencing the 24-point comeback against Pittsburgh in Game 1 that was broken by a last-second Steelers? field goal.

?I think his poise was pivotal for us,? Pettine said. "That calming influence in the huddle, he was never out of sorts. Guys never turned on each other, the O never turned on the D. For us to have that type of quality leader on offense is why we are where we are.?

    * Ben Tate. Determined to reclaim his vital spot in the offense after a four-week layoff with a sprained knee, he was a banshee running the ball ? 123 yards on 22 carries.

Phenom rookie backups Isaiah Crowell (6 carries, 19 yards) and Terrance West (7 for 31) also played, but as Tate said, ?I knew at the end, I?d be in the game.?

After the game, Tate thanked God and credited the offensive line for his first big game with the Browns.

?Being hurt, being injured, is not fun,? Tate said, a reference to criticisms of his durability. ?I always run with a big chip on my shoulder. This is just the tip of the iceberg.?

    * The defense. After a horrendous first half, in which it gave up four touchdowns ? two to Whitehurst after knocking starting quarterback Jake Locker out of the game ? it limited the Titans to 126 yards and six first downs in the second half.

Besides the fourth-down burial of Whitehurst on the sneak ?led by Paul Kruger, Karlos Dansby and Jabaal Sheard ? the biggest defensive play was a sack of Whitehurst on a blitz by reserve cornerback K?Waun Williams, who played ahead of demoted No. 1 rookie draft pick Justin Gilbert.

In the first half, the Browns couldn?t tackle, couldn?t rush the passer, couldn?t cover and couldn?t make a third down stop to save their life.

Pettine said he spent halftime talking with defensive coordinator Jim O?Neil and the two agreed the problem was not with the calls or the gameplan.

?The guys looked to be playing heavy-legged,? Pettine said. ?We weren?t challenging, or we were on our heels a bit. We came in at halftime and there were no significant changes to the play.

?I thought the players handled themselves well. It was similar to the Pittsburgh locker room and going through that experienced helped us.?

Speaking of Pittsburgh, the win sets up the rematch nicely against the Steelers in FirstEnergy Stadium. The Browns are 2-2 after their first road win in over a year. The Steelers are 3-2 after a close win against Jacksonville.

Each of the Browns? four games have come down to the final moments. This game was not decided until time ran out on the Titans after Kendall Wright was tackled at the Browns? 47-yard line by Williams.

?I have an EKG scheduled for tomorrow because my heart can?t take many more of these,? Pettine said.

And the season is only four games old.

Good win Browns. I have you guys beating the Steelers next week as of now. I haven't seen anything from them to suggest they come in and win in Cleveland. Not when they couldn't score on the freaking Jags and lost to the Bucs at home.

You defense definitely needs to improve. Allowing just a FG less would put them in the middle of the pack for defensive scoring yet probably have the team undefeated or at least at 4-1.

EDIT: 3-1. I forgot you had a bye already.

OK, so I was out of town watching my daughters travel volleyball yesterday (12 freaking games!! what a long Sunday!!)

I got home yesterday evening knowing what happened based on updates.

I watched the game from start to finish and began to give my thoughts, then thought it would be better to wait until I got a good nights sleep. I woke up this morning early and watched the game a second time and this is how I felt.

ELATED!! I was extremely happy with a W in the win column. The way they once again rose to the occasion and won the game made me proud to be a Browns fan. I went through the gambit of emotions that I normally do while the game was going on, without the usual outpouring of, well, personal verbal communication reserved for watching the game live. Watching it taped the first time, I was obviously more reserved knowing what to expect as the time ran off the clock...watching it a second time was more confirmation than anything of what I felt last night.

First let me begin by saying the Browns have now cemented their only option to play Brian Hoyer the rest of the season. They did not leave the door open to bringing Manziel in because every time Manziel would play, the only thing the fans would remember are the drives Hoyer helped with in the Steelers and Titans games. He has proven that he can keep the team at a professional level in the eyes of CERTAIN defeat. That alone would keep Manziel on the bench for me, for the sake of keeping my job safe as a coach.

Now, the more dire side of what I saw....

This team cannot get out of it's own way to start games...THAT is on the coaching staff. On the other side of the coin, they have put together great game plans if what Pettine said is true. He said they haven't changed anything, rather they stuck to the original game plan throughout and the players simply implemented it better in the second halves of these games. So, the impetus is put on them to get their motivation up sooner rather than later in order to play a complete game.

NOW, that takes care of the defense...

As for the offense it has become crystal clear to me...Hoyer is only capable of running a hurry up offense, or at least Shanahan's hurry up offense. You want to talk about Jekyl and Hyde. He is at or below adequate when they begin games in their normal defense...mostly below. The team then falls behind and they move into a hurry up and he suddenly becomes an above average QB and can get the team to do things better once in that mode. He still isn't on point accurate, but he does seem to be above his normal self and even that of the league when in hurry up. It doesn't just pertain to opening the game either as seen in Pittsburgh and against Baltimore. As soon as he gets the lead and the offense needs to use time off the clock, they go back to the unconventional offense and BOOM, he is back to inadequate at running that system. 4 missed 3rd down conversions in the 4th quarter against the Ravens should show you all exactly what I am talking about.

Give him a deficit and a hurry up system, BAM, we got ourselves a QB...otherwise, we need ourselves a QB.

It is extremely disturbing still, the number of 3rd downs that go unconverted due to inaccurate throws and/or the inability to run for conversion.

So, I am still in the camp that if/when Manziel gets up to NFL speed with Shanahan's playbook, he could/would put us in a better position to win games without the theatrics.

That said, Hoyer shows me one thing, that Shanahan needs to get him into the hurry up offense sooner rather than later in games. He will not be sat down in 2014 for anything other than injury, so let's roll with it and give him the offensive system that he is capable of running...and HOPE the rest of the offense doesn't get wore down while the Browns build leads that other teams need to overcome!

    Go BROWNS!!
