At a time when some are calling for Commissioner Roger Goodell to resign, he says his job isn?t in jeopardy. But if, as Goodell told CBS on Tuesday, Goodell is accountable for the bungled and botched Ray Rice investigation, should there be a tangible job action similar to those routinely imposed by the league office on players, coaches, and owners? Dan Patrick suggested on Wednesday that the league office?s handling of the case possibly should result in a suspension of the man in charge of the league office. ?Sean Payton was suspended for Bountygate, right?? Patrick said in the opening segment of his TV/radio show, which is broadcast by among other outlets NBCSN. ?Lost a whole year. . . . He runs the Saints. Now, he was not involved directly in Bountygate. But it was still his team, so he was punished. ?The Commissioner, he is employed by the owners. Why can?t he be suspended by the owners? Why can?t he be punished? Tell me the difference. You?re running a team, you?re running the league. It still happened under your watch here. What?s more egregious here? What happened with Bountygate, or what happened with Ray Rice? We know the answer. So you?re going to hold coaches and players to a different standard than we should be holding the Commissioner to? The Commissioner should be held to a higher standard.? Dan?s got an excellent point. Accountability without consequences isn?t really accountability.
Wont happen here is why Here?s how it works ? Owner 1: ?Hey guys, what do you think about Goodell?? Owner 2:?That boy sure makes us a ton of money.? After the applause dies down they decide to give him another raise. *WALL*
Wide receiver Marlon Moore returned to the Browns? active roster on Tuesday. Moore was suspended for the first week of the season, so the team didn?t have to hold a spot for him on their initial 53-man roster. He?ll join the back end of the Browns? depth chart at the position and could be a candidate to get bounced off of it should wide receiver Josh Gordon?s suspension get wiped out as part of an agreement on a new drug policy. The Browns also signed tight end Gerell Robinson off of Denver?s practice squad. He spent 2012 on Arizona?s practice squad and was on the Broncos practice squad for all of last season. His arrival may signal some concern about tight end Jordan Cameron?s condition. Cameron aggravated a shoulder injury in the season opener. The Browns waived guard Ryan Seymour and released cornerback Aaron Berry to clear space on the roster.
Man, I'm kinda glad I'm off this week because of this thread. 1. First about high school recruiting. I was a 2x CYO wrestling champ from St. Richards, North Olmsted. Every one of my matches from the 6th grade on there was a coach from St. Eds, St. Iggy and Elyria Catholic. Talking to my father about me being a state champ here or there. That St. Eds pumps out state champs and they do. I took 3rd in the state from N.R where I lived. It was a guy from St. Eds that beat me and was a multiply state champ. My 9th grade year I went to E.C because it was closer to home. I got into both Eds and Iggy. My parents got a divorce and then I went to N.R. But to my point if anyone thinks that catholic schools don't recruit they are wrong. I was recruited. T-shirts, trips to the facilities, class rooms, even taken out to dinner with my family. So recruiting at least at catholic high schools does happen. At least it did. 2. Tate's injury. I tried to tell you guy's. This guy is injury prone. If lucky he will play 7 games. We did the Texans a favor and him signing this guy. Good thing West & Crowell has looked good enough to start. But Tate to me was a very risky signing. He was never the man with the Texans. That was Foster. But at least we have some pretty good backups. 3. Like Lym or was it Bluez that said I'm a line guy first. So am I. The line didn't look all that bad Sunday. The right side looked worst than the left. Which I think a lot of us expected. I know its the 1st game but I really think we missed out on 1 of those WR's for our offense. Next years WR class is small. Gordon should be back by then but we need another WR. Also I'm tired of watching Schwartz get beat like a rag doll. So right now I see the glaring need for another WR and RT! I would love to get my hands on that stud Georgia RB, Gurley, though. 4. Like a lot of you I was disappointed in Gilbert. He has to get better. I would also like to see them bring in another OLB to rush the QB. Anyway, bored out of my mind just looking for something to do. It sucks being between jobs like this. So I figured I would leave some comments. Good day to you all and GO BROWNS!!!!!
Or "move" to the district, when their parents magically get a shiny new job...Anyway, that is no longer the case as many schools in Ohio now allow open enrollment. They are no longer burdened to live in the district to attend a school. Not saying Cleveland Heights has open enrollment, but many schools do. In the case of parochial schools, those boundaries never existed... Recruiting is still illegal, but easier than ever to accomplish. (edit remember, I'm not the one that said he came from another high school, it was one of his former high school coaches that said it...
I agree w that, but Clev Hts doesnt have open enrollment and W Geuga did have it but now getting rid of it
Coach Mike Pettine confirmed Terrance West will get the start at running back Week 2 against the Saints. Ben Tate is week-to-week with a sprained knee. West rushed for 100 yards on 16 carries in the Browns' Week 1 loss to the Steelers as the clear lead back after Tate exited. He'll get to face a Saints defense that finished 19th against the run in 2013 and surrendered 123 yards on the ground against the Falcons in Week 1. West is on the RB2 map. Isaiah Crowell will be the change-of-pace.
Isaiah Crowell looks like the real deal to me. He hits the hole hard and runs with tremendous power. Now I know what Ray Farmer meant back during mini-camps when he called Crowell the most talanted running back on the roster. I thought he was blowin smoke, but it looks like he just might have found a real gem with this young man...Certainly worthy of a fantasy pick-up. That one might pay off huge.
Retweeted by Dustin Fox Mike Cairns @MikeCairns5 9m Ed Werder reporting on ESPN that NFL players have agreed on raising testing threshold for pot which would immediately bring 20players back I think they still have to agree to the other parts of the new drug program and have a vote.
Browns receiver Josh Gordon, who checked into a rehab facility after a drunk driving arrest and is suspended for the entire 2014 season for multiple failed drug tests, says he does not have a drug problem. ?Do I believe I have a drug problem? Definitely not,? Gordon told OnDecker.com, via Cleveland.com. ?In this case, I was exposed to it from second-hand [smoke], and prior to I?ve been drug-free and have been staying that way ? and this incident has been causing a backlash of negative attention and negative media of me being an addict or a junkie, or using drugs terribly too much, which is definitely not the case and I?d like to definitely have that out in the open and be clear with that for sure.? Gordon said he went to rehab this summer after his arrest and learned there that he is not an addict. ?I chose to go on my own accord, my own thoughts,? he said. ?I thought it would be beneficial for me to go out to Cliffside in Malibu, California, and seek out some help. . . . They made their diagnosis and said I wasn?t addicted to anything, and I didn?t have any drug problems.? Even as Gordon holds out hope that his current suspension will be shortened, it?s worth noting that this is his second NFL suspension for a failed drug test and that he had failed drug tests in college as well. And he still faces both legal trouble and league discipline for the drunk driving incident. Whether Gordon is an addict or not, he certainly has a problem with staying away from alcohol and drugs well enough to stay out of trouble.
"Anatomy of a Dynasty - Part 2" http://live4sportnetwork.com/frontend/author/lyman/ I FINALLY got through the mountain of data for this article and it's now up. Looking back . . . I kind of bit off a little more than I wanted to chew. Live and learn. *SORRY*
As does about 80% of those on these boards... I am willing to bet 40% of those on these boards drove with a BAC of .081 or higher this past weekend...That's is only about 4 beers over a 3 hour period, or the course of a football game...Do you "feel" the effects? Not so much...but it is still over the legal limit to drive. This man passed 70+ drug tests over a 2 year period without so much as a hiccup...that is averaging about 1 per week. Do you know how much marijuana you can smoke and pass one drug test a week, especially when you don't know what day that could be? With the perfect scenario, flushing his system would take about 3 days. That is if he doesn't smoke for about 30 days, smokes 1-2 joints and drinks water constantly while peeing out the excess water. That would be the only way for him to pass 70+ drug tests over the course of a couple years. Now, I am not defending him in any way shape or form... I am simply stating that the majority of us posting on these boards could easily fit into categories that Gordon has fit into these past couple of years in the NFL... Driving home on a Sunday after watching the Browns could/can easily land you that infamous DUI/DWI and shape your life forever. Going to a concert and arriving to work the next day to find a notice of a random drug test could EASILY give you a notice of .16 ng/ml test showing up...however, lucky for us, there are no longer any drug testing in the free world or beyond that have this level of THC fail you on a test and you will simply continue on with your life...Unless of course someone reading this is a player in the NFL... So, before you cast stones of him being a drug addict, explore what his life has been like over the last 2 years in the NFL. I am in a random drug program because I hold a CDL. My name gets pulled a maximum of 4 times per year and it is a pain every time it happens, this guy has his name pulled on average of once a week...and had passed every one of them up to this point, and would have passed this one if he had any profession other than a player in the NFL... NOW, are you still thinking he may have a drug problem? Not calling you out bluez, I know you are just posting an article...I am more addressing the media that imposes this affliction on Gordon daily and anyone that believes the media. It is easy to read something and just agree with that writer rather than actually explore what was written and analyze it. Did Gordon make some bad decisions? I would say it was a bad decision to drive after having 3 drinks containing vodka, but I do believe it was only 3 drinks because of his BAC. I am not going to judge because of that. I have done it before, even though I have become very aware of drinking and driving after a DUI in 1995 and do not do it unless I am certain I have not had enough drinks to put me over the limit now. Before that DUI, I was not even aware enough to count how many I had, I simply went on how I "felt" whether or not I drove. I feel for this kid as he has, to me anyway, changed a lot in his life to make it better after the stories from his college days. He is still a young adult and will make more mistakes I am sure, but I also think he is learning as he goes. Sorry for the rant...
