stopper, why are you such a jackass? my gawd man....it'll never end, will it? We could win the phuquin super bowl and I have no doubt whatsoever that you'd find some complete bullchit reason to piss all over it.... Nobody is trying to compete with your chitty analysis of the game....EVERYBODY knows that you will only emphasize the negative. It's like the sun rising in the east. We all know the routine...it's a joke. jus like you
TD dont worry bout it....Duff made a smart comment intended right at me and thats why I made the post bout Mingo....if Duff is clueless and wants 2 make comments I will put him in his place w facts and not just make things up like he did.
Well my comments were intended right at you too....and I truly hate to be like that, but there's just no end to your negativity, and it's just old....really....really.....REALLY!...ef'n OLD! EXAMPLE: I mentioned a couple months ago that I thought the Browns had the potential to have a truly dominating defense, and of course, right on cue, you ripped into me and called me out and tried to piss on it. lol! It's absurd.....If nothing else, you are predictable. Pathetic.....but predictable. Let me tell ya somethin...Duff is an intelligent "normal" Browns fan. He's very well liked and respected around here. He adds plenty of insight and humor to these boards and his input is always appreciated and well accepted....I guess you just aren't ever going to "get it". Always on the offensive, and ALWAYS negative. That's how I'd describe you....
Mrquis Grey or whatever, just looks old to me, though a nice catch on the seam route. Desir and McFadden WTF!! Agree with the "they both looked OK" on the QB front. Yes Manziel adds a dimension, but I'd like to see him be more disciplined.. Rookie, so OK, but ready to start...????? If I am making that call, I'd go Hoyer for his stability, as we try to get everyone on the same page, and establish whatever Shanihan wants to be the new O. Manziel is a wildcard, with the ability to make things happen, but whether good or bad is still a question mark. He looked jumpy initially, but admittedly got his sea legs and looked much more composed after a series or two. I too would like to see him with the 1s, so we can evaluate more closely how much he has learned, and is ready for. Runninig backs. Agree that each has skills and weaknesses, so it looks like a commitee approach, and I think I am fine with that too. Each can contribute and we won't have a big drop off. Like to see West & Lewis look like the Sproles types, Tate and Baker the grinders. Worst thing for me was losing. Not that I value preseason games, but losing it so late was just too much of a reminder of so many losses over the last few years. Especially as the theme is supposed to be "finish". Overall I was happy to actually see the Browns on TV!! Saw some good things, saw some bad things, saw a lot of mixed results from individual players, so the process continues. Football is back!!!!!!!!!!!!Go Brownies!
I dont mind being called out if Im in the wrong, but he just made comments w no truth behind his sentence trying to b a smart a$$...ok I get u have a right 2 ur opinion, but just because I or another poster disagree w ur comments doesnt mean were wrong. U think the Browns can have a dominating defense....thats fine, but when they give up over 24 pts game in their last 7-8 games last yr thats a tough opinion to take as a credible source....thats like me saying I think WF will beat FSU this yr...can it happen yes but highly unlikely
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns coach Mike Pettine acknowledged Sunday that Johnny Manziel has made "lot of improvement'' from the start of camp, but that he hasn't overtaken Brian Hoyer in the quarterback race yet and that there's no obvious frontrunner between the two. "To me, if there was a clear-cut favorite at this point, it would probably mean that one of them wasn't playing very well,'' Pettine said on a conference call. "And it's a good problem, having two guys that we think are both capable of being NFL starters.'' Pettine denied a report Sunday morning by ESPN's Bob Holtzman that Manziel has moved ahead of Hoyer. Holtzman was in Detroit for the Browns' 13-12 loss to the Lions, and has been covering the Browns regularly since Manziel was drafted. "It's untrue,'' said Pettine. Pettine also stressed that he hasn't yet made a decision who will start the next game, the Monday Night Football contest in Washington Aug. 18. He said the two quarterbacks will continue to divide the first-team reps in camp this week, but backed off slightly on his deadline for naming his starter by the third preseason game. "I would like it decided before then,'' he said. "I'm not going to say that's 1,000 percent etched in stone, but I would like it (decided) before that." After watching the film, Pettine acknowledged that his rookie quarterback has tightened the race by catching up on the playbook and leading the offense. "We put Brian out there with the ones and that was for a reason, because he was ahead in experience and the lead he had with the playbook, and he's done nothing to have that taken away from him,'' said Pettine. "But Johnny has made some improvement -- a lot of improvement. The things where he was behind in the spring, he's gotten a pretty firm grasp on, and as we said before, it was him versus the playbook and he's handling it well. "I mean, it was his first live game situation of an active play clock and having to get the call and repeat it and get everybody lined up and the motions executed, which we do a lot of, and he's really gone from one extreme to the other and I think he's handled it well. But Brian on the other hand has been solid.'' Pettine said both quarterbacks made strides in Detroit despite not being able to get the ball in the end zone. Manziel, working with the second-team offense, produced one field goal in his four possessions, and completed 7-of-11 attempts for 63 yards and a 79 rating. He also led the team with 27 yards on six carries, including a 16-yard scramble and a conversion on fourth-and-1. Hoyer produced two field goals in his three chances, completing 6-of-14 attempts for 92 yards and a 65.2 rating. He overthrew a couple of passes, but also had two dropped inside the 10. "I thought they were both solid,'' Pettine said. "I think they both got almost the same number of reps. Brian got 24, Johnny got 25. They had different supporting casts but it was good tape for both of them. They both operated the offense efficiently, and had a couple plays they'd want to take back. For Brian, this is his first live game coming off the knee injury, and I thought he did some good things, and (it was) and Johnny's first NFL game. I think there was reason for both of them to be nervous and I think they both settled in quickly and operated efficiently.'' Pettine said he wouldn't necessarily give Manziel the edge because the team lacks premier wideouts without Josh Gordon. "I don't see it that way,'' Pettine said. "He does have a certain skill set that we hope to take advantage of if he is out there, but that's not the way we look at it. It's what I said before. We're going to look at everything involved and whoever gives us the best chance to win will be out there.'' Pettine has not changed his mind about preferring rookie quarterbacks to sit behind veterans. "I still believe that,'' he said. "But I also believe that you can be successful with a rookie.'' He cited Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Carson Palmer as quarterbacks who waited their turn, "and then you have situations where a rookie comes in and plays right away and is great, so you've seen everything, but I've always felt in an ideal situation that the rookie gets a chance to sit behind someone and learn.'' Pettine was impressed with Manziel's scrambling, and didn't try to dampen his enthusiasm for it. "The one long scramble that he had, it was the third down, he knew were the sticks were, he knew there was enough real estate that he could get the first down, and he certainly showed his ability to slide,'' said Pettine. "When it really opened up, I don't think he felt the need to sit and wait on a receiver when he knew he could get the first down and get down." He also had no problem with the keeper on fourth-and-1, despite fullback Ray Agnew flashing open. "I can't speak on what he saw,'' Pettine said. "I just know we needed a yard and he gained a yard." Pettine said he's confident his starter will have plenty of time to prepare for the season opener at Pittsburgh if he sticks with his timeline, and that he'll choose whoever gives him the best chance to win. "If we do have a starter (by Aug. 23), he'll play significant reps in the third game and then get all that practice time leading up to the Pittsburgh game we feel we'll have a quarterback that's ready." After the game, Manziel said all of the right things about winning the starting job, which should play well in the locker room, especially among the veterans. "For me, it's all about getting better,'' he said. "If I'm the guy that puts this team in the best position to win, then we'll see what happens. But if it's not, then I'm here. At the end of the day, what I want is what's best for the Cleveland Browns. "Whichever quarterback that is, whichever way I can help this team, that's what I'm all about. I'm not about having to come in, having to do this. I just need to continue to get better as a player, continue to learn, soak everything in from the film and this experience I had tonight and things will play themselves out the way they're supposed to.'' He also received a compliment from Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas, who's seen plenty of rookies come and go quickly. "He seemed to handle it really well, and you didn't see any silly rookie mistakes that you'd expect out of a first-year quarterback,'' Thomas said. Manziel wasn't ready to say that his debut gave him the confidence to face the Steelers less than a month from now if called upon, but seemed up to the speed and magnitude of the pro game. "Luckily for me, there's three more games for me to get out there and learn and continue to go through different situations vs. different defenses,'' said Manziel. "I'm still just growing up as a quarterback. I guess you guys can say (the Steelers game) is close, but at the same time there are a lot of things that will unfold from now until then that will paint a better picture for us.''
DETROIT, Mich. -- Safety Donte Whitner wanted to send a message with his first-quarter hit on Detroit Lions' Theo Riddick: Come over the middle at your own peril. Soft-spoken guard John Greco delivered one of his own: Stay away from the Browns quarterback. It's rare when an offensive lineman supplies arguably the hit of a game -- even in preseason -- but that's what happened during the first quarter of the Browns' 13-12 loss at Ford Field on Saturday night. As quarterback Brian Hoyer scrambled to his right, Greco stayed with the play and caught Darryl Tapp with a shoulder-high hit that knocked the defensive end off his feet and backward two yards. The play, which resulted in an incomplete pass, produced a hilarious, but profane Vine and also a flag. After conferring, the officials chose not to penalize the right guard for the blindside hit. "I'm glad they pulled away the flag," Greco said. "Brian got flushed out of the pocket and I was in the right place at the right time. You want to keep the D-linemen off him." Tapp avoided injury on the play and told Greco afterward it was a "good block." Greco was part of a first-unit offensive line that surrendered no sacks or quarterback knockdowns. The Boardman product, who's battling Garrett Gilkey, seemed to strengthen his hold on the starting right-guard spot. The first-unit offense generated two field goals, but couldn't score on its one trip into the red zone. "I thought we protected well, but there are things we need to improve," Greco said. "There's always things you have to fine tune, but mostly we're happy everyone made it out healthy." Tapp included.
Cleveland Browns' projected roster By Pat McManamon | ESPN.com Examining the Cleveland Browns' roster: Quarterbacks (3) ?Brian Hoyer ?Johnny Manziel ?Tyler Thigpen I wonder if Warren Harding's election campaign in 1920 received one-tenth the coverage of Hoyer V. Manziel. Thigpen actually looked better in the game than he had in practice. Connor Shaw seems like a practice squad candidate. Running backs (3) ?Ben Tate ?Terrance West ?Chris Ogbonnaya There hasn't been an Isaiah Crowell sighting in days. Dion Lewis' fumble in Detroit won't help him. Ogbonnaya has great value on special teams, as his touchdown-saving tackle on a punt return showed. Fullbacks (2) ?Marqueis Gray ?Ray Agnew Gray can do things. Wide receivers (5) ?Miles Austin ?Nate Burleson ?Andrew Hawkins ?Charles Johnson ?Travis Benjamin We?ll assume that Josh Gordon is suspended. If he?s not, add him and remove Johnson. Willie Snead made strides in practice, but didn't in the game. He needs to do better. Tight ends (3) ?Jordan Cameron ?Gary Barnidge ?Jim Dray The Browns are well fortified with the three tight ends they have. Offensive linemen (9) ?Joe Thomas ?Joel Bitonio ?Alex Mack ?John Greco ?Mitchell Schwartz ?Garrett Gilkey ?Paul McQuistan ?Martin Wallace ?Reid Fragel Wallace has been impressive playing behind Thomas. The right guard competition between Gilkey and Greco seems to have turned solidly in Greco's favor. Defensive linemen (7) ?Desmond Bryant ?Phil Taylor ?Armonty Bryant ?Ishmaai'ly Kitchen ?Ahtyba Rubin ?Billy Winn ?John Hughes A deep group with a lot of talent. Coaches should be able to keep fresh linemen on the field and keep active linemen playing. Linebackers (8) ?Karlos Dansby ?Paul Kruger ?Chris Kirksey ?Eric Martin ?Barkevious Mingo ?Craig Robertson ?Jabaal Sheard ?Justin Staples Mingo has played consistently well. Martin has flashed in some practices. Sheard is a linebacker who will also play with his hand down. A sixth receiver would mean the Browns keep just seven linebackers, but if it's eight the decision comes down to Staples or Zac Diles. Cornerbacks (6) ?Joe Haden ?Justin Gilbert ?Buster Skrine ?Pierre Desir ?Isaiah Trufant ?T.J. Heath The most interesting competition remains between Skrine and Gilbert to see who starts opposite Haden. Gilbert has come on. Safeties (4) ?Donte Whitner ?Tashaun Gipson ?Jim Leonhard ?Jordan Poyer The Browns clearly were concerned about safety depth, so they signed 30-something Leonhard. That bumps Johnson Bademosi, an aggressive player who has made some mistakes. Poyer started in Gipson's absence and got a ton of reps. The coaches must like him. Specialists (3) ?Christian Yount (LS) ?Billy Cundiff (K) ?Spencer Lanning (P) No need to change anything here from last season, as all were strong and dependable contributors.
The Browns locker room is split on starting quarterback. But there?s apparently no schism. Safety Donte Whitner, who let the cat out of the bag while in San Francisco that Colin Kaepernick would keep the starting job after Alex Smith?s concussion healed, tells Peter King of TheMMQB.com that the locker room currently is divided, but possibly not in a bad way, on whether Brian Hoyer or Johnny Manziel should start. ?It?s been fierce,? Whitner said of the competition. ?Two guys fighting for their lives. It?s close. I?d say [the locker room] is split about 50-50. We know they both can play.? That?s fine for now, but if Manziel struggles, that half of the locker room that supports Hoyer (whom left tackle Joe Thomas has compared to Tom Brady) may change their minds about Manziel and clamor for a change that would be much harder to make than benching Hoyer for Manziel. The best news for Manziel is that Whitner (and presumably other teammates) has no resentment arising from the Johnny Football persona. ?Very quiet,? Whitner said of Manziel. ?Very respectful. He?s earning his keep so far. He?s not asking for any privileges. He?s just a rookie, and he?s acting like one. When we have the rookie show, he?ll sing just like the rest of them. As far as football goes, I?m seeing him put the ball on the money like a veteran. Sometimes the receiver drops it. Sometimes the receiver isn?t even looking for the ball and it bounces off him. He?s got the confidence a quarterback has to have.? Manziel definitely has the confidence. The problem could be that he has too much confidence, especially when it comes to his ability to avoid injury when getting banged around by NFL players. Which could mean that both Manziel and Hoyer will play this year, if/when (when) Manziel?s style gets him hurt.
Very busy week ahead . moving my stuff then my girlfriends stuff into my old mans place . I honestly thought that I would never live with another female . didn't want to but this one is different . she has been very supporting very ..well I kinda like this one *SCRATCH* .. damn woman here I go again
Good to hear Bluez. As long as she let's you watch football and play Xbox and have a few beers and chat on here...........
Brian Hoyer opened with the first-stringers at Monday's practice. Johnny Manziel hasn't passed up Hoyer yet. Expect the pair to rotate with the first-stringers this week before a starter for the second preseason game is named. All we know for sure right now is that Johnny Football has narrowed the gap considerably.
Good luck with everything bluez!! We are in the middle of a move also and it can be a little stressful for sure!
Bluez, glad you found one you like...Sounds like you're happy. Hope it all works out great for you both...... After a 12 year hiatus, I'm just gettin back into the dating scene myself, and I gotta say, it's a little scary. lol! What the hell is going on out there? I mean am I expecting too much? Seriously? If a girl has like 75% of her body covered in amateur tattoo work, shouldn't she disclose that BEFORE any "date" is actually set up? It might not be everybody's cup of tea......jus sayin.
Not a problem as she is a football fan . She likes the Jaguars . she is a glutton for punishment as well . as far the brews go she is a regular soak ..as I get smacked upside the head *ROSE* . heading out now for a couple and a bite to eat .
