Football is back and we will now see if Manziel is serious about his rookie season. My money is on the side thatsays we start seeing Johnny Football right now.

Hold on to your hats, we are going to have a bona fide QB competition!!!

    *REF* and....GO!!!!

Double or nothing on the long necks ???

If Jonathon College Football is named the starter @ week 3 of the preseason (that would be close enough to "right now") we're even.

If its Hoyer . . . that would make it a whole case (24).

    Deal ? *DRINK*

call me a cranky old man, which I suspect I am becoming, while waiting for my beloved Browns to bring us the prize, but I am very happy to have Hoyer start the season under center.

I've said it before and still believe that is how the season will start. A tough early slate of games creates the perfect litmus test where he either is the real deal, or is what he has been: a perfectly good backup. I see it as a win win. If he's got the goods, then we have trade bait. if he doesn't we've got a capable backup, and get to find out about Johnny Football. Worst case: we haven't got a starter in either one, then, well back to the drawing board.

Rarely do we see a single season that definitively marks and QB as "the guy" or "the franchise", so I suspect we go through the year somewhere in the dreaded middle, in which case Manziel should be the starter, if only for the length of time left for him to become "the guy".

Mr Football brings a lot of excitement to Browntown, and ink. Lots of stories. Let's just hope they are football stories eventually. I get it. He's a great story, mainly for his personality / presence and promise, but pardon me for saying so, but Hoyer becoming a top 10 QB would also be quite a story, and one that blends in with the city of Cleveland more smoothly than the "broadway Joe II" Manziel does IMO. That's just my opinion, and frankly, whichever guy can win, is my man.

I'm a loyalist, and Brian appeals to that part of me. He came off the bench and put up a couple of Ws, then tragically went down with a grusome injury, leaving the team to stumble through the season Weedumb & co.. A rise from the ashes of that history and his perennial backup status, is the stuff of dreams. On the flip side, if Football wins out, I beleive Hoyer has shown enough to stay as our backup, and / or be reasonable value in a trade.

Maybe being in the Philly market, poisons my view, having watched Vick provide lots of excitement, and no championships, so I am skeptical about Manziel as a guy to build a franchise around, and see Hoyer as the more polished, astute and steady QB (a ls Montana).

    Thoughts?

Football season is finally here my friends! I'm fired up!

Even if you hate Johnny, you gotta love him for the fact that the Cleveland Browns are the lead story across the nation.. It's unbelievable! I was watchin NFL Channel at lunch today and it was ALL Cleveland Browns. lol! I swear, I think I saw most of the first practice on national TV....It's awesome. ESPN and the likes are campin out in Berea, and Browns fans aren't gonna miss a thing this year. The buzz is real in C-town, and it feels like the world really wants to see the Browns kick some ass this year.

I still feel that with average QB play the Browns would have won 8 games last year, so I'm really having a hard time containing my excitement about this season. If Justin Gilbert is as good as I think he is, than this team is in prime shape to be this year's "worst to first" story. I honestly don't think it's that far fetched at all. The 2014 Browns could be very similar to those Jets teams that went to the AFC Championship games in 09 and 10....Run it. Control it. Play great defense. It's a philosophy that should ring true in the hearts of Cleveland fans. Marty Shottenhiemer pretty much had the same approach back in the mid 80's....

Gonna be a fun year for the dawgs! AFCN is up for grabs....Why not Cleveland? By mid season this year, I expect to be talkin about playoff and division championship possibilities....not the 2015 draft.

I ALMOST hate to say this Lym...

I TRULY would like to see Hoyer win the battle, because I personally feel that would mean he is simply playing so GOOD they can't help but start him. That would be a blessing for this team to get out to a great start. Manziel is a rookie at the end of the day and with that comes growing pains. Pains I am willing to live with however...

I WILL accept your bet, with one caveat...

You win, bets the bet, a full case of Twisted Kilt to you m y friend...

I win, we split the bounty and I buy 12, you buy 12 and we get whomever else is available to come in and enjoy some football talk for a couple of hours. That was the whole point of the bets to begin with.

At the end of the day, I still believe Manziel will be too much to ignore, despite Hoyer's valiant efforts and by that 2nd preseason game, he will be taking starter snaps and by the 3rd he will be names game one starter...I also think this is best case scenario for our Boys in Orange! I think we finally have two competent QBs on this team that will push each other every day until Hoyer leaves via free agency...

The Browns reportedly think they have "a keeper" in UDFA RB Isaiah Crowell.

Crowell appears to have a legit shot at sticking on the final roster as a No. 3 back behind Ben Tate and Terrance West. We know he has the talent for it. Crowell was a five-star recruit for Georgia who put up a 185-850-4.6-5 stat line in 2011 as a true freshman.

Charles Johnson has reportedly been a "revelation" in the first days of Browns camp.

Johnson is on our radar because he's 6'2/215 with 4.38 jets and the Browns are desperate at the wideout spot. ESPN Cleveland says he's "surprisingly up to speed on the Kyle Shanahan offense" and "could be the receiver that comes out of nowhere to lessen the impact of ? if not offset" the Josh Gordon suspension.

Browns G Jason Pinkston (undisclosed) is not practicing.

There was some speculation that Pinkston was holding out for financial reasons, but that wouldn't have made sense for a player who appeared in three games last season. "Jason Pinkston has not been medically cleared to participate in football activities," the Browns and Pinkson's agents said in a joint statement. "The team has been in communication with Jason and his representatives and will respect their wishes to not provide any further details at this time."

Ah, yes. Yet another "Browns concerned by Manziel's behavior" article on SeeBS. What gets me is that they bashed us for not drafting him at #4 and then barely applauded us for getting him later while bashing us for trading up to snag him. Now it's, "Oh dear God!! What were the Browns thinking? I told you so."

    Let the three-ring circus continue.

Something is not right about the whole Jason Pinkston situation. The team says they cannot disclose the reasons; then he tweets that the team will handle it. Something is not stirring the Kool-Aid on this one. IF he were still having complications from the blood clot he had then it wouldn't be any big news to report. Ive been trying to run scenarios through my head as to what this could be. It has to be of some significance or there would not be the runaround that we are getting. If I were him I would probably stay off of my twitter/instagram accounts...which he hasn't.

This probably has something to do with the current HIPPA laws that forbid employers from publically discussing health issues of their employees.

I wouldn't read too much into this.
