Well, at least Josh Gordon hasn't descended down that winding stairway to oblivion like Titus Young..............yet.
I think this makes arrest #2 or #3 for Young since since his 1-year suspension and release from the Lions.

Lebron coming home is awesome for Cleveland. He is the crown jewel of sports, and he could have went anywhere with his talents. Every NBA city had the red carpet rolled out and Lebron chose Cleveland. It really is a huge moment in Cleveland sports. Personally, I thought Lebron had no heart and soul. I was bitter when he made the original "decision"and was willing to hold onto that forever. As I mentioned on this thread, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Heat get hammered in the finals by San Antonio. Never in a million years did I think he was ever coming back....But I was wrong, and Lebron showed that he does care. He has matured and I think he has seen and felt exactly how bad he hurt this region when he left. The fact that he chose to come home means everything...I guess I did think he'd come back someday. I just thought he'd be about 37 years old and done fighting for championships when it happened. This is different. Dude is in his prime... He's the biggest name in all of sports and he's going to be wearing a Cleveland jersey....I'm excited as hell about it. I'm happy for Cleveland sports. All the bitterness is gone, and only excitement awaits....

Hey wait a minute.... that's Irish, or at least his avator. Are you seeking royalties?

  12. I know Im the bear of bad news, but so far Im 2-2 w the LB watch....I told people he was coming bak after no initial contract when they met 4 lunch in Miami but then I said he wuld sign a 2 yr deal w player option.....now my idea is really starting to come into place w Wade doing the same thing....they will both join Melo in NY like they wanted to do in Miami before Melo messed it up w his % yr deal instead of 4 and they had 2 settle 4 Bosh...Gilbert will take no chances and sell the team at its peak of bout $1 billion w LB here and LB can use that as an excuse to leave to join his boy Melo in a place he always admired playing...The Mecca!!

Ummmm.......Stopper? I do believe you overlooked one little itty bitty gigantic detail..................

    From a USA Today article:

So much for your perpetual doom and gloom view of everything Cleveland.

  17. I agree....that TV deal is up when?

  18. Duff_Beer_Doug Franchise Player Browns Indians C&D Club

    o_O *YAHOO* o_O

The current TV deal is up after the 2015-2016 season (2 years from now)

P.S. Thanks for agreeing with someone for a change Stopper. It's a nice fresh breath of air. I enjoy a good argument. But man, I swear you argue sometimes just for the sake of arguing.

  19. My point was why does LB have a player option after his 1st yr? Why didnt he just sign a 2 yr deal which wuld still expire before the TV contract....I really believe he wants to play w Melo(his best friend)

Because NBA doesn't work like NFL...Their "salary cap" merely sets the price of max deals and those deals change according to situation. They can only spend so much money on free agents, but then they have rules which allow them to acquire players in other ways. That is how they have/had something like $3M left to spend on free agents (which is what they used to sign Miller), yet they can still TRADE for Love and be ok under the cap.

However, the max deals are different for in house free agents and open market free agents, which is how they were able to give James AND Irving max deals. The salary cap actually sets the amount of the contract, not the team and agent. So according to that cap, LeBron can only sign what the league allows him to sign.

This is where the LeBron deal comes in...2015, the cap is supposed to rise significantly, which allows for larger max deals...They already have their two max deals in 2014, so by opting out, LeBron can sign another max deal which would increase his 2015 salary by at least a couple of million dollars. Then he can opt out after 2016 again and sign another max deal, this time a true contract, which will most likely increase his yearly by about $5M per year over what he would have received by signing the current cap 4 year max...

This is a business move to get the man about $12-15M more over the next 4 years, and more over the final two of that max contract plan.

LeBron has come home to finish his career..He made his choice to go to Miami to get his "automatic rings" and now has come back to get the region that he loves one of their own.

Time to get over your conspiracy theories Stopper, LeBron is home to finish his career.
