:-* What a waste of time. Let us know when someone says something we already haven't heard/discussed regarding how to help this young man.
Does anyone know why Gilbert hasn't signed his rookie deal yet? Based on the revised rookie wage scale his contract should be around 4-years $13mil (+/-); $8mil signing bonus. I know there is still time to get him signed before camp. I'd just like to hear a bit of positive news for once during the boring season.
Well until something works what else can u do but keep trying....u know the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Earlier this week, in the wake of Josh Gordon's DWI arrest, ESPN analyst and Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter appeared on the radio and offered up a suggestion for the Cleveland Browns: cut Josh Gordon. Carter was speaking from his own personal experience. Another Hall of Fame wide receiver and current NFL Network analyst, Michael Irvin, profoundly disagrees with Carter's assessment. Appearing on the Dan LeBatard Show (quotes via the Palm Beach New Times) Irvin he doesn't think people lacking in specific knowledge of Gordon's situation should be dispensing advice publicly. "The people start thinking that you have insight on the situation or the issue or the problem so when you come out and make those kinds of comments and you're not in his sessions with his professional help, you don't know what's going on in those sessions, then you're being irresponsible," Irvin said. "I was a bit disappointed Cris Carter made that statement. Le Batard then asked Irvin about his personal feelings towards Carter. Irvin, well, went off. Irvin pointed out Carter's assessment to cut Gordon might've worked for Carter then but "maybe it's the worst thing" for Gordon now. "Dan, I was so hot when I heard it. I was so hot. You know, I love Cris Carter and he's a good dude and I know what he's trying to do and he's doing his job because his job is to bring his experience to the desk, to a microphone, and share his experiences," Irvin said. "But he's touching these lines, just like I'm touching when I'm trying to help guys, and you're on TV. You have to toe a thin line here, you have to toe a very thin line. People consider you, like, you talked to Josh so you must know more. If you said they need to cut him, then my god, maybe they should cut him. "Now, isolation for Cris may have been the best thing. Separation, for Cris, may have been the best thing. For Josh, maybe it's the worst thing." Then Irvin proceeded to tell an extremely personal and awkward story about he and Carter -- and Irvin's wife and Carter's advice for her! -- from their playing days before pointing out Carter's "ass it out of line." "I'm going to put a little personal on this even though I love Cris to death. I don't know what year it was we were in the Pro Bowl. And all Cris is trying to do, he's just trying to share his experiences," Irvin said. "He said to my wife -- he said to my wife --you know, Michael would never come out of this problem until you leave him. Till you leave him. For years, I've held it. I've never shared that with anybody. I've never in my life shared that with anybody. I was so irked with Cris because he was out of line then. His ass is out of line now. He is out. of. line." Le Batard followed up by asking Irvin if he ever talked to Carter about the incident and Irvin said he "never confronted him" and never told Carter he knew of what happened. Given the small circle of Hall of Fame wideouts who now cover the league for television networks , it stands to reason the two will run into each other at some point in the near future. That could be interesting to say the least.
Its all good, but the Browns havnt changed the kid yet so mayb he needs a new voice....I dont have the answers but all I know is the Browns dont either
You nothing of the sort. How in the hell do you know what the Browns have or have not done for or with this kid. For all you know, the Browns have tried any number of things to get through to him. For all you know, both Michael Irvin and the Honey Badger could move in with this kid and it still wouldn't make any difference. In other words . . . you don't know chit.
Haven't heard about bluez family issues. How is he doing? Don't want to be blunt but I care about all of this family. Goat
Stopper- Is it impossible for you to just let a comment go by without having to respond in some negative fashion or just having to have the last word on everything? Just curious. P.S. The question is a double edged sword.
Although I truly believe that defending Gordon at this point is irrational... We also need to look at the information we currently have. 1) The suspension, by recent reports, was due to him missing a random drug test, which he DID take the very next day and passed with flying colors. Now, you could say he used that 24 hours to use the magic formula's needed to flush any trace of evidence out of his system, or it could be much simpler than that and he simply missed the test. He obviously isn't very bright when it comes to these things, so he may have figured he has nothing to worry about, he would just go get his test the next day and they would see he is clean...not how it works, but it makes just as much sense as him using 24 hours to get all traces of drugs out of his system to pass the test completely. 2) His recent DWI...this one is tough, simply because he KNOWS his life is under a magnifying glass and he needs to walk a tight rope or he can fall into an abyss. However, I went to dinner last night and ordered a Vodka Tonic with dinner. We were finished with dinner within the hour and I will simply say, the drink was made to my liking...meaning more vodka than tonic. I cannot for a certainty say that my BAC was below the .08 required under law, but I will say that I never at any point felt any different than I did before taking a sip of that drink. .09 for a guy that is 6' 3" 225, = about 4 rum and cokes over 5 hours. So, although the two occurrences are very bad publicity, they also may not be condemning evidence of his abuse of drugs and/or alcohol. I would certainly have expected another failed drug test by now if he was having a lot of issues. He is subject to 4 tests per month in the stage he is in. That is stringent testing...
Thanks for the update Lym. Best wishes for a speedy revoer for your ole man. Hang in there Bluez take care of things as needed. We'll try not to tear the place down before you get back. *ROSE*
Thank you Lyman, as a guy today in Chicago fighting cancer, the ups and downs even by the minute can be flustrating and unnerving. *SORRY* From one tough guy to another, we will fight to the bell. *THIS* I pray for bluez's dad and hope for a speedy recovery, with or without the beer. *DRINK*

Posted by Mike Florio on July 10, 2014, 9:13 AM EDT One of the biggest current questions in the NFL relates to the status of Browns receiver Josh Gordon. With Hall of Famer Cris Carter suggesting that the Browns should give Gordon the same wake-up call the Eagles gave Carter in 1990, will the Browns do it? Per a source with knowledge of the dynamics of the situation, it?s not likely that the Browns would cut Gordon, but it remains possible. The source said that it would not be a surprise if the Browns decide to part ways with Gordon before training camp. If that happens, Gordon would be exposed to the waivers system, with teams getting a shot at securing the final two years of his rookie deal based on the worst-to-first priority order. The Texans, who may need a No. 1 receiver, would have dibs. Before the Browns would cut Gordon, they?d have to be comfortable with the possibility that Gordon would indeed wake up ? and that he?d become a potential Hall of Famer with another team. If Gordon ultimately has his potential one-year suspension upheld via the appeal process, however, there?s a chance he?ll never play again, since he?d have to continue to pass up to 10 drug tests per month even while banished from the NFL. That?s the biggest difference between Carter and Gordon. Carter wasn?t facing a suspension; the Eagles moved on, the Vikings claimed him on waivers (blocking the Giants from getting him), and Carter was able to continue his career without missing a beat. Gordon would start his time with a new team by bidding farewell to it, possibly for a calendar year or, thanks to the recent DUI arrest, longer. That complication could make most if not all of the other 31 teams inclined to pass on Gordon until he?s cleared to play ? and more importantly until he?s able to overcome an apparent addiction to marijuana that threatens to delay indefinitely the third season of his NFL career.
