...At the end of the day... This same sports city that cursed at LeBron for leaving the way he did, still wants a championship more than anything else in the world. So if he decided to come back and help get them that, half the city would welcome him with open arms, and the other half would forgive him 5 games into the season when the Cavs aren't 0-5... That's the way passion works, something you only have for negativity...
So u agree it was a business decision for Irsay and I feel the same way for LB.....he made a business decision to win championships and he did that(2)....he gave 7 yrs here and felt it was time to move on....we will never know if he stayed if he wuld have won, but we do know he won in Miami so I dont see how people can doubt his move. I cant believe players have the nerve to keep going public and have negative comments bout Johnny....the locker room is becoming divided each day a player makes a dumb comment. Kruger of all people shuld worry bout himself and not make statements bout "Im a little tired of hearing bout him" and "Hoyer is the guy"
I've been reading along on this for the past few days and I am now convinced that you (Stopper) are on this site with the sole purpose to piss people off. Not even you can be so stupid as to not comprehend what has been said about the two moves in question here. NO ONE has ever said that LJ's actual move was anything other than a business decision for him. Likewise, NO ONE has said that Irsay's decision with Manning was anything other than a business decision. The point being made (and I'll type slowly, just for you) is HOW those two business decisions were disclosed to the fan bases and the general public. One was made with complete decorum (look it up) and respect to all involved. The other, was turned into a made for TV event by James with the sole purpose to promote himself and, at the same time, throw dirt in the faces of the very people that paid his salary (the Cavs organization and the fans).
I dont care bout that stuff....as I stated LB, Gordon, Manziel etc culd care less bout us....and 2 take it a step further Gilbert had sour grapes because he knew he just lost his $ maker.....Im sure u were real pissed when the Cavs traded the legendary Z who fought his whole career w foot injuries only to b traded to find that missing piece....hows that 4 throwing dirt in his face but I guess that doesnt count?
Outsider chiming in but I'm purely a LeBron James hater and have no problem admitting it. I love to see him lose. I'm not even a Cleveland sports fan in any regard but I am a sports fan. To play for your home town team and bring them a championship should be one of the things a player of any sport aspires to do imo. Of course a player can't help who drafts him and he can't help who will offer him the best contract. LeBron however was drafted by the home town team. Money wasn't an issue as he signed that $90M contract with Sprite before he signed his NBA contract. To turn around and do what he did to the and fans that have supported him since he was in high school, if not earlier, was pathetic to me. Especially since the few Cleveland natives I knew personally at the time were excited because they thought he was going to announce that he'd resign and bring a championship home. He wasn't even that far away since they had made the finals. Instead he made a plan with Bosh and Wade to form a dream team and now he's doing it with Carmelo. LeBron James will NEVER be considered the greatest by me because he's proving that he knows he can't win without a stacked team. The fact that he's STILL trying to coordinate another superstar filled team with another top 5 pick from his draft class makes me shake my head whenever someone says LeBron can carry a team alone because he clearly doesn't think he can. /rant
Cry baby? Why don't ya just bust out a "neener neener neener" on me?lol! . What the heck are you even talking about? You forgot to mention "red right 88", and both World Series trips in the 90's btw....How do you think I reacted showstopper? All those events ripped my heart out of course...There is no mystery with me. I'm a very passionate Cleveland sports fan. So what does that mean? You think that puts me in the minority around here? lol! I got news for ya. Just for the record, I didn't like LeBron that much even when he was here. Always taunting the fan base that worshiped him, with his Yankees gear and his Cowboys gear. Then taking less money to leave! He's an azzhole in my book. His "store bought" titles have already been forgotten in Miami...If he'd have stayed and won them in front of the real fans of Cleveland, his legend would have no limits and those rings would have meant SO much more across the sports world...I can't imagine....But he did what he did and it is what is. LeBron made Lebron the villian in Cleveland. and if you think I was the only Cleveland fan that thoroughly enjoyed seeing LeBron and the Heat have their collective asses handed to them in the finals, then you sir, are an imbecile....
I dont think for one second u were the only one....but if he doesnt come bak ever again it will b a lot of stress cause he will b in contention for many yrs and u and many others will have to hope he doesnt win again. Obvioulsy a lot of people over the yrs have changed their opinion cause he was booed every time he came into town his 1st couple yrs and now they knew he culd possibly become a FA so now they kinda cheered for him hoping to make amends on their previous stance.
He tried for 7 yrs and culdnt get it done....he realized it wuld b very difficult to get big time FA's to come here since they missed out on guys like Ray Allen, Redd(home town kid), A Walker, Bibby, Marbury etc. There isnt 1 player that can win a championship....Jordan had Pippen and Grant, Bird w McHale and Chief, Magic w Kareem and Worthy, Duncan w Manu and Parker, Kobe and Shaq.....the list goes on and on.....I dont see Melo joining him in Miami unless Wade becomes the 6th man and they sing n trade Bosh.
7 Years is enough? LeBron came fresh out of high school. He left Cleveland at what, age 25? He could have signed a 4 year deal (like he did with Miami) and asked Bosh to join him in Cleveland since they were just recently in the NBA finals so Bosh could have been the missing piece. In fact, Carmelo's deal was up also so he could have asked Melo to join him and Bosh in Cleveland. There's a new big three and they would probably have won it all. And no, I don't think Carmelo goes to Miami. I don't think LeBron is playing in Miami next season until his new team travels there.
Thats my whole point Melo and Bosh didnt want to come to Clev...thats why LB made the decision he did.....and they wernt recently in the finals(07) he left in 2010....the Cavs were old(Z, Shaq, Jamison, Parker) and vested all their draft picks so the talent wasnt there.
This Could be our problem: You are making too much out of the Kruger comments, once again... They (and you) take one line out of a comment and make it headlines... Here is what was actually said by Kruger; Hell he didn't even know how many games Hoyer played in 2013. Again, all you write...and what many only see...is the negative parts of the statements made. What about the "It's tough to say but I think the preseason will be a big deal for both of them.", which is where he concedes, nothing will be known until they put the pads on...I guarantee you if Manziel is working the playbook as well or better than Hoyer in training camp, Kruger and every other member of this team will be hoping (even if secretly) that Manziel gets in there sooner than later. You have to actually read the article to see the last line that reads "It hasn't been a distraction, it really hasn't. It brings some excitement." Again, IT BRINGS SOME EXCITEMENT, he along with everyone else are excited to turn on Sports Center and Total Access to see themselves and their Browns teammates every day. The media driven drivel, that you bring up more than anyone else, isn't a distraction because they are all at home right now doing what they do in their free time. None of these headlines pop up during camps or OTAs, and they didn't pop up during the season at A & M either. All of his headlines were from the off season. Once training camp begins and the true competition is under way, that is all the focus will be.
Stopper, in the end, LeBron simply shouldn't have had a press conference just to tell his biggest fans that he is leaving them. He could have simply left like most players.
I read the whole article.....he said In my mind Hoyer is "THE" guy....why didnt he just say the preseason will determine our starting QB instead of giving his opinion and taking sides? He said all that after voicing his opinion probably trying to cover up for his mistake.....the last paragraph I have no clue what he is saying...."Im a little tired of hearing bout him" and then "it will bring some excitement"
On a better note..."Browns agree with Johnny Manziel" *BRAVO* *OK* Only Bonito and Gilbert left to sign, unless I've missed one. GO Browns.... WOOF WOOF!!
Now Pettine needs to take notes from Zimmer on how 2 handle a QB situation http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...nder-battle-minnesota-vikings-quarterback-job
No one ever said that they wouldn't come to Cleveland... LeBron set the whole stage for free agency...He was the first to announce, followed immediately by Wade and Bosh...then the rest of the NBA followed suit. The only reason he wasn't signed earlier is because they had to work out the sign and trade for max values. It isn't like there were no options, so he signed with the Heat to complete this trifecta. Melo had already said he is staying in Denver for his last year on his contract, it wasn't until December after James left that he said he wanted out of Denver. Bosh, would have likely went any where LeBron asked him to...LeBron wanted a guarantee with a "Big 3" and Miami was his ticket to get just that. As for the Finals...he made it in '07 with a supporting cast of Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Sasha Pavlovic and Z...NO WHERE NEAR the colluded lineup he managed in Miami. '08 and '09 the Cavs still made the playoffs and lost to the Celtics in '08 conference semi-Finals and lost to the Magic in the Conference Finals, which was the year LeBron quit playing, if you watched you remember exactly what I am talking about. They had a team that could have won it all in Mo Williams, Delonte West, Z and Varejao..They were the best team in the NBA up to that series against the Magic...Game 6, James stopped playing, period.
Ur somewhat right Irish.....LB announced his decision on July 8.....Toronto and Miami did a sign n trade on July 9 and then the Cavs realized oh boy we better get something for him so on July 10 they worked a sign n trade. U named guys that will not sniff the Hall of Fame(Mo, Z, AV and West) and a 1st ballot Hall of Famer in Wade....not a hard choice.
Are you a simpleton? That is almost verbatim of what Pettine said he would do, a month ago.. He has said all along, both Hoyer and Manziel will have equal reps in training camp leading into the pre-season and the first two games will get equal reps with the first team offense going against a first team defense. He said the trick is to have a date to make a decision so that the winner can be prepared for the opening game. Here read all about it: A month ago, May 19th http://chronicle.northcoastnow.com/...zy-qb-competition-brian-hoyer-johnny-manziel/ Highlights; "Pettine vows it will be a fair fight. He met with coordinator Kyle Shanahan and quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains on Monday to discuss a plan to ensure the playing field is level. ?You have to plan it very well,? Pettine said before speaking to a group of about 300 fans at the Akron Browns Backers banquet. ?They?re going to get ahead and chart it, who?s getting reps with this offensive line, with these tight ends, with these receivers, just to make sure that we?re getting a level evaluation on it.? The battle will continue through the offseason, into training camp and likely into the preseason. It will be the focus of the media and fans." Then 5 days ago http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...-ahead-of-manziel-but-lead-not-insurmountable Highlights; ""The issue for us as a staff is finding the right time to name a starter. If you wait too late, then nobody's ready for the opener; if you do it too soon, then it wasn't a true competition. That will be part of our discussions as well as far as okay, here's the plan, here's a date that we want to go ahead and name him.'' Pettine admits that any quarterback competition has yet to begin but once August arrives it's go time. "We haven't really been in the mode of thinking, 'He's this far ahead today. How much was the gap closed?''' Pettine said. "They're still learning the basics of the offense. The rookies haven't been here very long. They're playing catchup from a playbook standpoint. So at this point, we really weren't keeping score. We'll be much more apt to do that once we get to training camp.''" This is what we have been discussing for the past few days... Hater comments..."Now we just need Pettine to take notes from Zimmer on how 2 handle a QB situation" When Pettine had the press a month earlier than Zimmer about his QB competition...
