U call BS.....look it up Diontre Delk-BG Shelton Gibson-WV Dorian Hudson- Notre Dame College Marcus McSheppard-Northwestern Dorian Baker- Kentucky Justin Layne- Jr and has all those offers already proof is in the pudding
What r u talking about? If u look up West Virginia's football roster u will see #1 Shelton Gibson, if u look up Northwestern's roster u will c #31 Marcus McSheppard and so on.....not sure what ur post was stating w the same high school
I stand corrected, One was listed as University Heights, one Cleveland Heights (same HS obviously), others I had to go to different years of rosters to find them, but I did find them all... Now if we could just verify you are actually a WR coach for Cleveland/University Heights High School, I would give you a little credit. Since, you have little to say about Josh Gordon's abilities, THAT is why I am extremely skeptical about your evaluation abilities. To say, "QBs miss open WRs it is part of the game"...Well of course it is, unless you are arguing that WR that was missed only gets his yards in clean up time, like you were. Then the fact he gets open at other points of the game are very relevant and cannot be excluded from the conversation about the points in the game that he gets the majority of his yards. It simply says more about the caliber of QB and/or play calling to not get the ball in that receivers hands more often.
Why wuld I just make up these names if I didnt coach them.....my point was u mentioned u felt sorry for position group when they have received full scholarships and some partial scholarships in the last few yrs....u can justify ur point w Gordon all u want and all I want to see is making an impact from the 1st snap until the last snap....not when their getting killed and he makes 5 catches in the 4Q when the game has been decided.
Browns OLB Jabaal Sheard said he and the team have discussed a contract extension. Sheard, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie deal after grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 10 3-4 outside linebacker last season. Sheard has started 45 of a possible 48 games since being the 37th overall pick in 2011, and has 21 career sacks. It might be in the best interest of Sheard to bet on himself. He's playing the Mario Williams role for new coach Mike Pettine, rushing the passer more. Pettine has a tendency to coax career years out of defenders.
Nate Burleson (arm) is participating in this week's minicamp. Burleson had his cast removed last week after getting the plate replaced in his forearm earlier in the offseason. He did not suffer a re-break of the bone. Burleson is ticketed for a prominent role in Cleveland
So your point is you don't want him to make plays late in the game when it could matter most? Here is the breakdown of the first half for Gordon in 2013...please let me know how he is not making an impact in that portion of the game... Vikings 103 yards, 1 TD(44 Yards) Bengals 49 yards Bills 31 yards Lions 79 yards Packers only 1 pass attempted to Gordon in the first half, an incomplete, Weeden was 5-15 in the 1st half Chiefs (Campbell) 86 yards 1 TD(39 yards) Ravens 41 yards Bengals only 3 passes attempted to Gordon all incomplete including 1 INT Steelers 62 yards Jaguars 125 yards 1 TD(21 yards) (Weeden 3 turnovers in first half despite this) Patriots 42 yards Bears only 1 pass attempted to Gordon, incomplete Jets 52 yards Steelers 11 yards, only one pass attempted to Gordon Totals 681 yards and 3 TDs (still enough for second highest(by over 200 yards) on the teams totals behind Jordan Cameron) JUST TAKING HIS FIRST HALF STATS INTO ACCOUNT... He would have ranked 56 in the NFL, playing 2 less games and not at all in the second half. So just to clarify, his breakdown by half is this: 1st half , 681 yards, 49 yards per game, .2 TD per game 2nd half, 965 yards, 69 yards per game, .7 TD per game So out of 14 games, he was a contributor in the first half in 10 of them or I would be willing to guess right on par with the rest of the top WRs in the NFL...I don't have time to break down the 1st half of every other WR, but if you want to, be my guest. It isn't a tale of two halves like you suggest (or worse, only the 4th QTR...that is the only time he made catches...right?) Like I have said all along, you OBVIOUSLY don't watch these games or your "analysis" of Gordon would seem just as ignorant as we have been saying all along. Hence my questioning of your "expertise" on the subject.

Second Quarter Cleveland Browns continued... 2-7-PIT40 (15:00) (Shotgun) J.Campbell pass short right to F.Whittaker to PIT 35 for 5 yards (R.Clark) [J.Worilds]. 3-2-PIT35 (14:16) (Shotgun) J.Campbell sacked at PIT 42 for -7 yards (C.Heyward). 4-9-PIT42 (13:31) (Punt formation) S.Lanning punts 35 yards to PIT 7, Center-C.Yount, downed by CLE-G.Barnidge. PENALTY on PIT-C.Brown, Offensive Holding, 3 yards, enforced at PIT 7. Gordon was involved, ever so slightly, but the drive was working to perfection right up to the point where Campbell was sacked to take them out of field goal range. Otherwise it could have been 6-3 Browns at this point. 3rd possession: 1-10-CLE47 (11:38) C.Ogbonnaya left tackle to PIT 43 for 10 yards (V.Williams). 1-10-PIT43 (10:57) J.Campbell pass short left to J.Cameron to PIT 39 for 4 yards (L.Timmons). 2-6-PIT39 (10:15) (Shotgun) PENALTY on CLE-A.Mack, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at PIT 39 - No Play. 2-11-PIT44 (9:57) J.Campbell pass incomplete short left to C.Ogbonnaya. 3-11-PIT44 (9:53) (Shotgun) J.Campbell pass incomplete short right to J.Cameron (T.Polamalu) [J.Worilds]. 4-11-PIT44 (9:47) (Punt formation) S.Lanning punts 34 yards to PIT 10, Center-C.Yount, out of bounds. No Gordon here, but the drive stalled as soon as the false start penalty on Mack occurred. Score still tied 3-3.. 4th possession: 1-10-CLE13 (4:33) J.Campbell pass short right to J.Gordon to CLE 23 for 10 yards (J.Worilds). 1-10-CLE23 (4:08) F.Whittaker left tackle to CLE 27 for 4 yards (T.Polamalu; C.Heyward). 2-6-CLE27 (3:37) J.Campbell pass incomplete short right to J.Gordon [J.Worilds]. CLE-J.Campbell was injured during the play. His return is Questionable. 3-6-CLE27 (3:31) (Shotgun) B.Weeden pass incomplete short middle to J.Cameron. 4-6-CLE27 (3:28) (Punt formation) S.Lanning punts 39 yards to PIT 34, Center-C.Yount. A.Brown to PIT 48 for 14 yards (C.Owens; J.Bademosi). Gordon was felt immediately with a first down on the first play of the drive, then the drive was disrupted with Campbell's injury and Weeden being put in. Score still 3-3, then goes to 3-10 Steelers on their next possession. 5th possession: 1-10-CLE20 (2:28) J.Campbell pass short right to J.Gordon to CLE 36 for 16 yards (I.Taylor). 1-10-CLE36 (2:02) J.Campbell pass incomplete deep right to J.Gordon. 2-10-CLE36 (1:56) (Shotgun) J.Campbell pass short left to J.Gordon to CLE 46 for 10 yards (I.Taylor). 1-10-CLE46 (1:51) C.Ogbonnaya left guard to PIT 46 for 8 yards (T.Polamalu). FUMBLES (T.Polamalu), RECOVERED by PIT-T.Polamalu at PIT 46. The Replay Assistant challenged the fumble ruling, and the play was Upheld. AGAIN, Gordon immediately made an impact with a first downs on 2 of the first three plays which set up an 8 yard run...unfortunately Ogbonnaya ALSO fumbled on the same play ending the drive... 3-10 Steelers END OF FIRST HALF: BROWNS 3 steelers 13 (after the Steelers kicked a FG on their last possesion of the half) 2nd half, 3rd QTR 7th possession: 1-10-CLE20 (15:00) F.Whittaker left end to CLE 25 for 5 yards (V.Williams). 2-5-CLE25 (14:26) J.Campbell pass incomplete short middle to F.Whittaker. 3-5-CLE25 (14:20) (Shotgun) J.Campbell pass short middle to G.Little to CLE 29 for 4 yards (W.Allen). 4-1-CLE29 (13:46) (Punt formation) S.Lanning punts 48 yards to PIT 23, Center-C.Yount, fair catch by A.Brown. Came up one yard short of sustaining a drive past 3 and out... 8th possession: 1-10-CLE45 (9:34) J.Campbell pass short left to J.Gordon to PIT 46 for 9 yards (V.Williams). 2-1-PIT46 (9:22) W.McGahee left guard to PIT 42 for 4 yards (J.Jones). 1-10-PIT42 (8:44) J.Campbell pass short right to D.Bess to PIT 39 for 3 yards (W.Allen). 2-7-PIT39 (8:08) J.Campbell pass incomplete short right to G.Little. QB scramble pass 3-7-PIT39 (7:59) (Shotgun) J.Campbell sacked at PIT 48 for -9 yards (W.Gay). FUMBLES (W.Gay), RECOVERED by PIT-W.Allen at PIT 47. W.Allen to CLE 4 for 49 yards (C.Ogbonnaya). CLE-J.Campbell was injured during the play. He is Out. Gordon ONCE AGAIN felt immediately with a 9 yard gain on the first play of the drive to set up an easy first down run on the subsequent play. Drive ended on a sack and another fumble by Campbell to end the drive and give the Steelers the ball on the Browns 4 yard line..( I suppose this was Gordon's fault of course) Steelers score EASILY to make it 3-20 I am assuming this is far enough, since you were questioning where he was BEFORE they were down by multiple scores... Well as you can see, he contributed throughout this time period and the Browns shot themselves in the foot time and again, despite his efforts... NOW, your turn to point out how he was MIA when all this was going down... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Now let's look at the second game at Pittsburgh which would have helped your argument a little had you only looked at stats...which is where you are bashing Gordon... 1st possession: 1-10-CLE20 (15:00) E.Baker right end pushed ob at CLE 25 for 5 yards (C.Allen). 2-5-CLE25 (14:32) (Shotgun) J.Campbell pass short left to J.Cooper to CLE 23 for -2 yards (J.Jones). 3-7-CLE23 (13:49) (Shotgun) J.Campbell pass incomplete short right to C.Ogbonnaya. Finally sends another pass to Gordon for his only completion of the game. END of the First Half So show me where Josh Gordon "disappeared" in this game as opposed to the play calling...
You guy's are funny. You are going back and forth about a player who might not even be on the team this year. It's time for all of us to realize this year he is gone. It was just reported on Yahoo that the coach said he takes play's off. I know like Allen Iverson it's just practice. But obviously he is lazy minded or weak minded. Weed will do that to you. LOL I know he has little value right now but how will this effect the rest of the team? A LOSING TEAM! If we were a playoff team it might be a little different. But were not. We are one of the worst. I feel the same way about him as I do Joe Thomas. Joe is an all pro LT and great at what he does but with him this is a 4 win football team. Same with Gordon. I'm more angry we didn't draft a WR in the draft after they knew he failed or didn't show up for the test. Unless this guy finds Jesus in the next dope sack its time to part ways with him. Either now or when his suspension is over. Like the Cavs waiting for James to come back its time to move on. lol That how i see it anyway........... Go Brownies.
Els... The IMPORTANCE of an individual is as you state already, of little consequence. Joe Thomas will not win you games Josh Gordon will not win you games Joe Haden will not win you games Jabaal Sheard will not win you games Karlos Dansby will not win you games It is a collection of players that begin to win you games... When you keep "parting ways" with players, you are constantly filling holes that were not there before. If/when he is suspended, it still makes absolutely no sense to "part ways" with him. During his suspension, he costs this team nothing, the same as it would if they cut him. However, just giving up on him could cost the team a heck of a lot more in the future when he comes back if he plays like he did in 2013. He is a relevant part of this team. The debate, given the off season, was about Gordon being the best receiver in the league in 2013. It really had nothing to do with his current situation. It is merely a debate about the questions Stopper raised in previous posts. Would you rather we only make posts from week one to week 16 of the regular season? (since we haven't been a part of the post season since 2002) and then a couple of days before the draft, then shut it down completely again until the next season starts? These are subjects about the team... You are obviously interested in reading something Browns related, since you come on here during this time period and post about how "funny" we are to be talking about the subject. As for the draft, it could just as easily prove to make this defense a top 5 defense in points scored, which may not have happened had they procured a WR with one of those top draft picks. This regime is obviously going to go all in on fixing the run game and imho, Bitonio will make that happen more than Marquise Lee would have. Now, if they were all in on a vertical passing game, ala Norv turner, then yes a WR would have been an essential part of this draft. I think this offense will more closely resemble the Seahawks offense than even the Browns passing game of 2013. Wait forget all that.... Maybe I should just make one single post per day for the next 2 1/2 months... See this thread from here on out at exactly 10 am for the following. Go Browns, from a Browns fan
Actually Irish, you've made 3 posts today and with the allotted 1 post/day means we won't be hearing from you until Saturday.
You could always go back and edit all three posts into one long rambling post and delete the other two, so that you could post again tomorrow.
