  1. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Maybe it's just me or maybe I read the wrong article . . .

But Prisco gave the Browns a B- if I'm not mistaken and he didn't say anything about not drafting a WR that we said in here as well.

Prisco is still a douche, but (IMO) not based on this article.

    Lym-

Maybe it was in his pick by pick draft grades which may have been in the draft tracker. Got a C or C- for taking our CB at #4 which he bashed us for not getting a QB. Then gave us an A or A- for Manziel at #22 cause we did get the QB he thought we should have grabbed at #4. Then the news came out about Gordon before Day 2 and then he just gave us C's with comments/reasons about not taking a WR. He graded the Browns on not getting a WR and not on actually adding talent and filling holes on the team.

Then that's a different article than the one I saw.

    But he's still a douche.

    Agreed. Whole-heartedly.

  6. Farmer didn't panic, Ill give him that. ESPN gave the Browns a B-. I too like the West pick. As I said before the 1st 2 rds. I can agree with. Build the line. I love that move. I am a line guy first. I knew 2 weeks ago that either Young or Thigpen wouldn't make it out of training camp. The Manziel pick was made for both player and financial reasons. I cant blame Haslam for that. Its already paid off at the register. Jersey sales will be up the roof.

After my knee jerk reaction I've had time to work and think. I still think the Browns need to find a WR. But this draft was better than last years, I'll say that. But my feelings about Gordon haven't changed. As Mike Singletary said " Cant win with em, Can't play with em." The man is very talented and someone will pick him up. But let them deal with it. That's all I have to say about that right now.

I asked some co-union brothers about how the stadium is going and they say it looks great. I didn't want the time off this winter and went to Chevy and a job in Maple Heights instead, still there. Next I'm going to either East Bank flats or the new Hilton downtown. But would of liked to gone to Browns stadium. Checked out how my concrete patches held up, LOL. I'm trying to get some pictures for you guys.

But all in all you have to dance with the girl you brought, I guess. But man we need another WR. lol

I found the article that shows Prisco's grade pick by pick.

I stand by my comment that he is a douche and will up the ante and add azzhole.

Here it is. It didn't copy very well. Notice we got an A- for Desir in the 4th. That's cause they had another writer giving grades out for rounds 4-7.

    Analysis:
    Pete Prisco Rnds 1-3
    Derek Stephens Rnds 4-7

1 #8 Justin Gilbert | CB, Oklahoma State
I liked two other corners better, but they need corner help. Why not a QB?
    C

    1 #22 Johnny Manziel | QB, Texas A&M
This is a smart move by the Browns. They had to get a quarterback. Great move.
    A

    2 #35 Joel Bitonio | OG, Nevada
Why not a receiver here? I know they have guard issues and might want to replace the right tackle, but passing on receivers? I like Bitonio as a player, though.
    C

    3 #71 Christian Kirksey | OLB, Iowa
Kirksey is a speed linebacker and you have to have them. He's a good player, but are they just forgetting about receiver?
    C+

    3 #94 Terrance West | RB, Towson
West is a good player, but what about receiver? He will help the running game, but didn't they sign Ben Tate?
    C-

    4 #127 Pierre Desir | CB, Lindenwood
Desir possesses one of the best combinations of athleticism, size and ball-skills in this class of corners, and could compete for a starting role right away. He needs to become more physical against the run though, and is still a bit raw technically. A true NFL starting-caliber talent though.

I just wanna know how Prisco keeps his job? Seriously, the guy knows nothing and offers no insight. He's petty and short-sighted and I'm sure he just hates certain teams and bad mouths anything and everything they do.

Lyman, I'll see your douche and azzhole, and raise you a mudder phuquer.

As promising as draft day is for some rookies, there?s a cruel reality for some veterans.

The Browns announced the release of five veteran players Monday, including quarterback Vince Young.

Eleven days after inking a one-year, $730,000 deal in Cleveland, Young is on the outside looking in. The team also announced that YouTube sensation Alex Tanney had been relieved of his duties.

With the Browns spending a first-round pick on Johnny Manziel, it was a long shot for either player to make the roster.

The quarterbacks now on the Browns' roster are Manziel, Brian Hoyer, Tyler Thigpen and Connor Shaw. The latter was signed as an undrafted free agent.

Young hasn?t taken a snap in the regular season since his tenure in Philadelphia in 2011. After a preseason with the Packers in 2013, the 6-foot-5, 232-pound quarterback was released last August

  11. Might as well just b Hoyer since he seems to b put on a pedestal in Berea....what a joke to actually name a starter in May.

  12. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Had the Browns not named a starter in May . . . you would have on here calling them a joke for not allowing the "starter" to take 1st team reps.

  13. They drafted Manziel for a reason....at least make it open comp and if Hoyer wins then u name the starter...whats the hurry?

  14. TopDawg Legend

Lym and Dug, those were perfect words for the Prisco breakdown. I can't top that...only concur.

    What is his deal?

Hey pete, do you think we shoulda takin a receiver??? geezus...enough!! what crack analysis...lol!

He had nothing else to add...pathetic. I can't believe that guy gets paid for his opinions....

    It's simply a hierarchy..

As of May 13, 2014 Brian Hoyer is the starting QB. They have told Manziel, if you want it, you have to work your ass off to go get it. Start acting like the backup QB that has to work for what they get. Not the first round QB that has it handed to him and gets complacent.

I love the attitude in Berea!

  16. TopDawg Legend

Totally agree Irish. Mike Pettine has said many times, he's not going to just hand the job over to a rookie QB. Jobs will have to be earned.. That's absolutely the way it should be.

I love that Cleveland got Johnny Manziel. But even more so,I love where we got him in the draft. The fact that we actually passed on him twice, before finally selecting him, was just about the perfect scenario. Now he's humbled, and he has that chip firmly planted. Time to get to work. For Johnny to be a true leader of this football team, he has to earn it. Before you get command of that huddle, you've got to prove to those guys that you're the man. That's the only way.... Can't say enough about how the Browns handled that first round...They finally got a real leader for the position. Some day, much sooner than later, this draft will be celebrated by all Browns fans....

  17. I didnt say hand it 2 him....just makes little sense to name a starter thats all

  18. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

It's pretty simple SS, Hoyer IS the starting QB until beaten out. He was the starter until he got hurt, all other QBs on the roster from that season are gone, so he is the starter by default until someone takes his place.

It doesn't mean, they handed the job to him, he had already earned it and now it is up to someone else to take it from him.

The Browns didn?t draft a replacement for the potentially suspended Josh Gordon, and owner Jimmy Haslam offered a show of support for his troubled star.

?Josh is learning and growing and improving as a person,? Haslam said during a speech, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. ?He?s learning how to work hard. He?s learning how to be a professional. Josh is a smart young man. All of us have made mistakes when we were that age. We?re counting on Josh being a good football player for the Browns for a long time to come.

?We spend a lot of time with all of our core players and Josh is obviously one of those. We have all spent a lot of time talking to Josh and I?m not going to comment on the situation but I?ll say this, but I?ve been very pleased with his professional growth over the last year and the way he handles himself.?

Reports emerged last weekend of a recent failed marijuana test, which could lead to a year?s suspension, and though they knew about it going into the draft, General Manager Ray Farmer didn?t tap into a deep class.

?We?re confident we have a plan,? coach Mike Pettine said. ?The situation didn?t call for panic. That?s something we weren?t going to do. I agree with Ray 1,000 percent that we have to build this team so that no one player drives the ship. ?losing players for extended periods of time potentially is part of the game. Successful franchises are the ones that have enough depth built and enough options that they have from scheme-wise, coaching-wise to account for it.?

We?ll see if the Browns can overcome it, but the decision to bypass Sammy Watkins when they knew they?d likely be without Gordon is one that could haunt them.

A quick recap of the Browns' six selections of last week's NFL Draft and how they fit into the team's plans for 2014.

After the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns added players on both sides of the ball who are in the mix to be starters when the season begins Sept. 7 at Pittsburgh.

In addition, general manager Ray Farmer acquired three more draft picks in 2015 including a the Buffalo Bills? first-round selection.

    Here is the 2014 class:

Round One, Pick No. 9 | Justin Gilbert, CB | He?s a top-10 pick and addresses a team need. So Gilbert is expected to be an immediate starter opposite of Joe Haden.

Round One, Pick No. 22 | Johnny Manziel, QB | Browns first-year coach Mike Pettine did not anoint Johnny Football as the day one starter. Brian Hoyer will have a chance to compete, but there will be intense pressure from the fans and media to see what this Texas A&M rookie can do.

Round Two, Pick. No. 35 | Joel Bitonio, OL | As high as Bitonio was drafted, it is likely he will start at right guard, perhaps right tackle depending on Mitchell Schwartz?s performance during training camp. The Browns offensive line now includes two first-round picks and two second-round picks.

Round Three, Pick No. 71 | Christian Kirksey, LB | Craig Robertson will have come competition come July for the starting inside linebacker position adjacent to Karlos Danzby. Undersized, but fast, Kirksey is a player that this coaching staff likes.

Round Three, Pick No. 94 | Terrance West, RB | Perhaps the Shanahan?s penchant for finding running backs later in the draft will pay off once again? West was a bell cow in college, carrying the ball 413 times last year for Towson. The Browns think West can perhaps split time with free agent acquisition Ben Tate.

Round Four, Pick No. 127 | Pierre Desir, CB | Like the Browns? previous cornerback selected this draft, the team is very high on this fourth-round selection. It?s doubtful he?ll start, but he is expected to be in the mix among the Browns bevy of defensive backs.

    Summary:

The major splash came Thursday night, no doubt. Potential playmakers were added on offense and defense. The one concern came from the Browns avoiding taking a wide receiver in a deep class, especially considering when the Browns found out about Josh Gordon?s off-the-field issues and the injury to Nate Burelson.

Of course, that would be quickly forgotten if Johnny Football comes as advertised, which is a big ?if.?
