Lym, Chantix worked well for a former co-worker of mine as well as my "soon to be ex" wife....But they both complained of really intense or vivid dreams/nightmares....I don't know what's in that stuff, but I never thought either could quit the habit. So it has had some success....It's the only thing I've ever seen anybody have success with in quitting smoking, besides good ol fashioned will power.

  2. welcome to MnC, skid *DRINK*

hang in there, lyman. quitting smoking is one of the best things i've ever done - way better than starting ;)

have u tried nicotine patches? it's the same thing u get from smoking, so it has no strange effects on the mind, and u progressively work your way down thru lower and lower doses.

i quit the hard way. i just stopped. like 6 times. finally, it worked :)

    For anyone still interested . . . as of approx. 9:00pm, the Browns have signed the following UDFA's;

    WR Willie Snead, Ball St.
WR Chandler Jones, San Jose St.
    WR Kenny Shaw, FSU
    FB Ray Agnew, Southern Illinois
    QB Connor Shaw, South Carolina
    LB Carlo Calabrese, Notre Dame
    RB Isaiah Crowell, Alabama State
    TE Blake Jackson, Oklahoma State

  4. Who? Then again Who? CBS has the Browns as losers in this draft. They said Manziel was a good pick but the Browns major need was WR and the Browns failed to draft one. They knew burn out failed a drug test and did nothing. But as the saying goes around here. Wait till next year. One day in the sun and got fried. Or should we say burned out. Unbelievable! Only the Clowns. What about Mathews, Yankey, Carey. All those players were there to be had. But Manziel just sold 2000 season tickets. If I was him I'd want 10 million a year to play here. No one to throw too. Well Cameron. Come on kool-aid drinkers, tell me how good they did. I have a feel its time to start watching real NFL teams. Thank God for the Buckeyes. I can still watch some good football. I got the NFL package. What a joke. But I can hear that register ringing.

As more and more people throughout the league become convinced that owner Jimmy Haslam had a lot to do with the decision to use the 22nd pick in the 2014 draft on Johnny Manziel, the Browns are trying harder and harder to convince anyone and everyone that Haslam had nothing to do with it.

?I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that Jimmy Haslam at no point demanded, requested, tried to influence the process in any way,? Farmer told reporters after the draft concluded on Saturday, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. ?He definitely asked questions, he?ll definitely give his opinion of what he thinks and all of those things are fine. But at the end of the day, he trusted the football staff to make the decisions that we thought were the right decisions for this football team.?

But here?s where the logic collapses onto itself. Owning the team means not having to demand, request, or try to influence the process. His mere involvement in the process necessarily will influence it, whether he tries to or not.

Anyone who has ever worked for someone, and who has managed to survive in that job, understands the dynamic. Anything and everything the boss says needs to be analyzed for messages, whether the boss intends to send messages or otherwise.

If the boss mentions that he likes the smell of the new soap in the bathroom near the reception area, every bathroom in the building needs to have that soap in it. If the boss mentions that he likes the leg room in the back seat of the vehicle that picked him up at the airport, that same vehicle needs to be used to take him wherever he wants to go.

The same thinking applies for an NFL team, if the owner has any involvement in the player-acquisition process. Every question asked contains a message. Every opinion articulated definitely sends a message.

As one league insider remarked to PFT this morning, ?If Haslam mentioned this week that he had a good meal at Mexican restaurant, the buffet in the draft room would have been burritos and tacos.?

There?s no way Haslam can be involved in the process and not influence it. The only way to truly not influence the process is to stay out of it completely.

In the end, the owner has the right to be involved. But it?s foolish to expect the media and the fans to think that he didn?t influence it, especially when the team traded up for a potentially franchise-altering quarterback.

And if Farmer picked Manziel or anyone else in a way that ignored Haslam?s questions or conflicted with his opinions, Farmer had better hope that the team vindicates him with wins, or Farmer will be the next former G.M. who has a difficult time becoming a G.M. ever again.

  6. To tell you all the truth. If Gordon is done for the year then it may be time to try and trade him or just cut ties with him. The reason why we got this kid was because he was a pot head. He failed 2 drug test in college and now 3 in the pro's. Yes, he is very talented and yes the Browns should of addressed the WR position in the draft after finding out 2 weeks before he would be suspended. They said he got the letter from the NFL months ago. So the Browns knew unless he didnt tell them. But this shows me he is not a team first guy. He is a me first guy. After coming back from a 1 year suspension he will have missed a step no matter how good he is.

With going with that way of thinking I wrote down some 2015 free agent WR's and how much they make.

    Michael Crabtree 5.3
    Jeremy Maclin 5.5
    Nate Washington 4.5
    Jordy Nelson 4.2
    Eddie Royal 4
    Demaryius Thomas 2.8
    Dez Bryant 2.4
    Robert Meachem 920,000
    Torrey Smith 900,000
    Randell Cobb 800,000
    Cecil Shorts 700,000

    Other names
    Roddy White 8.5
    Brandon Marshall 11
    Wes Welker 6.5

After this 5th time Gordon is unreliable. Getting caught 5x means you have a problem. 2 in college & 3 in the pro's with the drug problem. Its time to try to get rid of him. However you need to do it. Reinstated and traded or just cut loose and let someone else worry about it. The 1st list is who I would target. The 2nd make to much money.

    It's a nice list...

Now explain to me why any of those teams would want to trade away there reliable WRs simply because OUR dumb ass WR failed a drug test? Do the other franchises feel that sorry for us, they will simply trade us what ever we need? I say go for Torrey Smith since that would hurt a division rival, while we are at it...

Didn't realize it was so easy..

Maybe set your sights a little lower..

BEREA, Ohio -- When the news broke on ESPN Friday afternoon on Josh Gordon's impending suspension, just hours before the second round commenced, the excitement in Cleveland quickly turned to despair.

All of the excitement of selecting Johnny Manziel, Justin Gilbert and prying a No. 1 draft pick in 2015 from the Bills on the first day of the draft quickly dissipated with the news that Gordon is facing a one-year suspension from the NFL.

Two sources told "Outside the Lines" Friday that Gordon's latest violation is the result of marijuana being found during a drug test. One source said that Gordon received a letter in early winter from a league physician stating he had failed a test. A second letter, informing Gordon that he faced a 16-game suspension but had the right to appeal, was sent in late April.

Gordon's agent Drew Rosenhaus declined to comment but said the information was "not true."

Ray Farmer said he was unable to comment on the situation until the NFL provides clarity on the subject.

"I would say that frustration is a natural part of it and I think that's what was felt and heard when that announcement was made," Farmer said after the draft ended. "I don't fault the fans for their reaction to it. I don't fault anyone for being disappointed. To that end, it's our job to make those decisions less painful and in time, it's no different than if a player was going out there in the offseason and broke an ankle or tore an ACL playing pickup hoops or doing something different."

"We have to build a football team that can win regardless of whose missing and I think that's the charge that we have," he said. "I think that's my job, coach Pettine's job, is to prepare this football team no matter who's missing."

Browns draft recap: Team fills needs on both sides of the ball

However, the bigger question is how could arguably the Browns biggest play maker put himself in this position?

After this season, Gordon could've received a big payday with a multi-year contract extension.

Last year, Gordon missed the first two games of the season due to a league-imposed suspension for allegedly testing positive for codeine, which he said was from prescription cough medicine.

Gordon returned for the final 14 games and led the NFL in receiving yardage with 1,646 yards on his way to the Pro Bowl. Last month, Gordon told Fox Sports Ohio that this was the season for the Browns to win.

"We know we don't have time to rebuild and it's time to go right now," Gordon said. "Guys are realizing that and that it's now or never and that's the way we???re approaching it and hoping for it to happen a lot quicker this year."

Gordon, who turned 23 last month, was excited about the prospects of possibly playing with Manziel, Ben Tate, Andrew Hawkins and some of the other offensive players the Browns have.

"The more guys we have, the more threats we have on offense in the backfield to have a running game and to spread the field and open up a lot of guys down field in the passing game with myself, Nate (Burleson) and Greg Little."

However, there's a good chance if the Browns do start to turn it around and win, it will be without Josh Gordon.

Browns signed Alabama State RB Isaiah Crowell.

Crowell (5-foot-11, 224) went to Georgia as five-star prep recruit and started as a true freshman, posting a 185-850-4.6-5 stat line in 2011. He was arrested on felony weapons charges the following June, and promptly dismissed from the team. Resurfacing at Alabama State, he rushed 170 times for 1,121 yards (6.59 YPC) and 15 touchdowns in 2013, adding seven catches. Although Crowell has obvious off-field concerns, he's among the most talented running backs in the 2014 class with explosive lateral agility and a powerful lower body. He ran 4.57 at the Combine with a 9-foot-9 broad jump and 38-inch vertical. Also an able pass protector, Crowell won't need long to contribute to the Browns if his head is on straight. He's a high-ceiling Dynasty prospect and will give Terrance West all he can handle behind Ben Tate.

This year the Browns are screwed. 2014 you will have no receiving corp. Those players will b free agents in 2015. No trade necessary. I'm saying trade him for a pick if not let him go. Those are the guys available that I would want in FA. But this year Gordon fracked us. Trade, cut loose and move on.

SI's Peter King says Josh Gordon is likely to be suspended "somewhere between eight and 16 games" for his latest failed drug test.

Last June, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Gordon was in Stage 3 of the league's substance abuse program. If that remains the case, the minimum suspension is one year -- after a which a player must apply for reinstatement. Of course, Gordon's camp will appeal and likely try to argue their client should have been in Stage 2. A violation at that point comes with a 4-6 game ban. Either way, it's mind-blowing Gordon couldn't stay clean even with the incentive of his first mammoth contract at the end of the rainbow.

Oh, my bad, you're looking to 2015 off season... I was confused, thought you were saying trade for one of those guys now.

Yes, there's a lot they can do in the 2015 off season... starting with 2 first round draft pick.

I don't think they are out of 2014 just yet, only because I think they are building a running game and Shanahan has been successful in that department every where he goes. If the pass is a complent to the run, I think we will be ok.

  14. bluez M.V.P. Browns Indians

The Cleveland Plain Dealer says the Browns "absolutely love" Terrance West.

All teams are going to "love" their picks two days after the draft, but this one feels more genuine. The Browns traded up to get West in the third round even though they had desperate needs at wide receiver. They're going to implement a conservative, run-based attack and know Ben Tate's durability is a serious concern. West drew pre-draft comparisons to Alfred Morris, who emerged as a star under new Browns OC Kyle Shanahan. West is going to have real fantasy value in Year 1.

    Jaguars released WR Jeremy Ebert.

Ebert was called up from the Jags' practice squad for six games last year. He played on special teams and caught three passes for 18 yards before landing on injured reserve with an ankle sprain.

I watched him in college at Northwestern catch everything in sight . I think he set School records . why not kick the tires on him ?

I gave Lombdumbo all kinds of grief last year for signing Charles Johnson last year off the Packers practice squad only to discover he had a tore ACL . he took up a much needed roster spot for three weeks . now it may play out to our advantage . he is healthy and has the size speed ratio teams covet .

I was watching SEE BS's draft round table. I came away wondering how you grade a teams draft based on who they didnt draft? Was WR a need? yes. They had a plan, stick to the board, and stuck to it. Farmer did not panic. They absolutely fleased the Bills trading down and got arguably the best corner in the draft. Moved up and thanked pittsburgh to get the most explosive QB in the draft. Continued to draft the top of their board in the beginning of the 2nd rd. The LB, they say is where they had him...thought it was a reach but again, they stuck to their plan. They made sure the picked West ahead of two division rivals (one who loved him, another picked a rb)and got their guy. The pick of Desir was great. Most had him rated inside of the top 90 players and we picked him at 127. On top of the we got Isiah Crowell as an UDFA who was arguably a top 5 back in the draft.

You can drag everyone's score down based on whom they didnt draft. Grading them on who was drafted, it would have to be a B+.

I read that article with Prisco's grades of the Browns' draft picks. What an absolute putz!!!!! Gave 'em low grades because (as he said) "they should have drafted a WR after hearing the Gordon news." And then proceded to bash on all the remaining picks because they weren't a WR.

The Vince Young era in Cleveland has turned out to be a short one.

The Browns announced Monday that Young is one of five players they have cut loose from the roster. Young signed with the team less than two weeks ago along with Tyler Thigpen, who remains on the roster.

Young was always a long shot to remain with the Browns all the way through offseason work and training camp, but the arrival of Johnny Manziel in the first round likely accelerated the timetable. Ranking below Thigpen is not a great sign for Young?s chances of continuing his NFL career and we may have seen the last of the third overall pick of the 2006 draft as he turns 31 in six days and hasn?t played a regular season down since 2011.

The Browns also released quarterback Alex Tanney, whose trick shot passing videos haven?t been enough for him to earn long-term employment at the NFL level. Defensive back Brandon Hughes, running back Fozzy Whittaker and defensive lineman Brian Sanford.

I liked Conner Shaw evidently so did the FO . he will be our third QB .

Later VY ..we hardly knew ye
