Just heard about Gordon. Man that sucks. I mean, it's great for the Ravens but I hate to see talented players not play because of stupid stuff like this. Just put the weed down for a few years!!! And he was a keeper in my fantasy league *THIS*

  2. Boo! Did I scare everyone? Thought it was about time to take a look at this mudncleats thing. Especially since we now have all the pieces we need to return to a respectable franchise! Oh yea, except a freaking WR!

    What's up DPL!?!?!?

    Welcome kid!!!

    Where you been?

Brownskid, whats up man? Glad you found the lounge...

Personally, I still can't get my mind around the whole josh Gordon fiasco. I have to think that Cleveland has some reason to believe that its not as bad as it seems right now with him. Maybe they really have some grounds for appeal.. I don't know. Ignoring WR through 3 rounds seems strange if they truly believe their #1 WR is out...Though I really like the picks they've made, and I can appreciate sticking to your draft board, I'm puzzled about the plan at WR....

I'm still excited about the QB we added, but the news on JG definitely puts a damper on everything....

  5. Just been busy...work, school, kids, wife, etc.

It's just a tough call. Going into the season without Josh Gordon and expecting Hoyer or Manziel to perform at a high level is just ludicrous. Who are they going to throw too? Even in the old shitty days we had massaquoi and robiskie who were closer to number 1 and 2 receivers.

And to top it off, Burleson fractured the same arm he fracture last year in a car accident. No doubt that this may end up being a year after year nagging injury.

  6. BROWNS FANS GETTING SCREWED BY THE BROWNS SINCE 99. I never believed in curses but right about now I think I'm going too. The best WR in the AFC is the biggest pot head on the team and done for the year. Then your FA vet WR fractures his arm in practice. THE CURSE IS ON.

My question is why didn't they take a WR? Did they try to keep the Gordon dope smoking quite from the fans until after the draft? Did they figure we have suffered enough? Fracking Little is your #1. We are screwed. Just when you start feeling good about this team they ALWAYS let you down! The Jags and Packers have had excellent drafts. The Browns chit themselves again so far. Or you can say they chit on us again.

Now you got 2 QB's and no one to throw too. ONLY THE FACTORY OF SADNESS!

Privacy laws kept them from telling the coaching staff, I don't thin k they had the fans in mind at all going through this situation. My question is, how do these leaks occur in the first place. According to reports only the owner and extreme upper management (GM, President, etc.) are privy to this information, all others in the organization are not allowed to be told.

Otherwise, the player and his agent are sent letters explaining the findings and nothing else is supposed to surface, until he is found liable and a suspension handed down.

As for this statement ^ ^ ^ ^, it is total BS!!!

Do we have a MAJOR need for a WR? Of course...But we don't know how major until this process plays itself out and apparently, player, agent and upper management believe there is a pretty good chance it works to the players favor.

Remember, the 24 hours prior to finding this out, the majority of you wanted offensive line help, not a WR at #35...Well, the Browns agreed with you and stuck to their board. Bitonio is one of the best in this draft, so thank your lucky stars they drafted him and we will move on.

As for the next pick, I have said all draft long, ILB is the most needy position on this team. There were too many other players rated higher to address the need before this pick, but they indeed addressed it. I unfortunately don't know enough about him to make a judgement call, but as for the first few transactions of Farmers draft career, I will give him the absolute benefit of the doubt...

Calling this draft a "chit themselves" is utterly ridiculous and shows your negative bias towards the glass is half empty attitude we have all come to love about you...

This has been an awesome draft thus far and despite the WR need, drafting one that you had rated lower than other prospects is not the way to sustain a healthy roster.

At this point, there are mediocre veterans, and will be more at roster cut down, that would contribute more than a rookie that they felt would need time to learn.

I STILL believe Justin Gilbert and 2015 first and fourth draft picks are more valuable to this team than Sammy Watkins...Watkins was a luxury pick when taking the future picks into consideration.

The offense they are building will be well balanced and won't need two WRs catching 120 balls a year to make positive yards. I hate to regurgitate an example that has been overly used, but the Seahawks had their prize WR on the sidelines most of the season due to injuries and they never missed a beat because of their balance between the pass and run. That is what I believe they are building based on their roster moves and I believe the receivers we have will contribute to that cause. At this point, we can't jump off the bandwagon because of Josh Gordon's choices, we all knew coming in he was one test away. It could have happened at any time.

    ^^^^^^ Well said Irish.

Until the news about Gordon, Farmer was drafting as the majority of the fans would have had him. Despite what the naysayers and critics spew from here on out. I think farmer has done a great job of drafting.

If Gilbert can play up to his potential, we have the makings of Minny/Dixon 2.0 in the secondary. Which under Pettine could become one of the most feared Defenses in the NFL again. And if they are able to nail both first round selections next year think of far they will have come in a short time.

Keep your chins up lounge houndz. The season hasn't started yet, and we're still tied for first place *THUMBSUP* *DRINK*

The Browns continue to not address a need at receiver that, as it turns out, is a bigger deal than previously believed.

In addition to the suspension receiver Josh Gordon reportedly is facing, receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm during a recent minicamp practice, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

It?s the same arm Burleson broke in an auto accident that occurred when Burleson, as he told the story, was trying to keep pizza from falling from the passenger seat of his car. He?s expected to miss the rest of the offseason program.

A 12-year veteran, Burleson signed with the Browns after being cut after the 2013 season by the Lions. He also has played for the Vikings and Seahawks.

Browns town is in full blown melt down mode over Gordon . may it not be true .may it not be the whole season .

I actually have some good thoughts for you guys to ponder.

Remember last season when the Browns traded away Richardson. The board (and football watching community) went in full meltdown that the Browns were throwing in the season. They didn't win the Super Bowl or anything, but that situation ended up working out better for the team than anyone imagined.

The legend of Johnny Football was born on the field, coming to life around replays of the diminutive quarterback time after time scrambling left, juking right, then launching a prayer of a pass that would eventually find its receiver.

But the celebrity of Johnny Manziel was incubated in his off-hours, a result of beer-swilling sessions at frat houses, trouble with the law and mysterious or otherwise illicit autograph sessions, behavior befitting the favorite son of a family well-heeled from the proceeds of oil that only deepened the lore.

The stories are old hat for the patrons at Manziel's favorite bar in College Station, Texas, Chimy's Cerveceria, many of them no doubt living as firsthand accounts.

    Adam Hunger/USA TODAY Sports
Johnny Manziel left his credit-card number at his favorite bar, according to its general manger, with a goal of spending about $2,000 -- a nod to his No. 2.

On Thursday at Chimy's, Manziel made sure the memories weren't an afterthought, treating more than 100 revelers to a beer and a shot, as he was chosen No. 22 by the Cleveland Browns in the NFL draft.

According to a Dallas Morning News report, Manziel bought about 122 of 250 people in attendance in Chimy's, according to a bar employee, a Miller Lite and a Fireball shot.

Chimy's general manager Petro Robledo told the newspaper he and Manziel are friends, and that the former Texas A&M Aggies star had dropped by last week to make preparations for the surprise.

Manziel left his credit-card number at the bar, Robledo told the Morning News, with a goal of spending about $2,000 -- a nod to his No. 2 jersey.

Had Manziel been picked earlier in the draft as was widely anticipated, he had originally planned on making a brief appearance at the bar via video conference, according to Robledo.

But 2 hours and 45 minutes passed before the Browns took Manziel, which Robledo said resulted in a change of plans.

It didn't completely douse the festivities, as Chimy's held a raffle over where Manziel would be picked and three Manziel-signed helmets and a football were awarded as prizes.

Robledo said interest in the draft piqued with the Dallas Cowboys' pick at No. 16 -- with the bar hopping to Kid Rock's "Cowboy", which features the lyrics "I wanna be a cowboy, baby."

  14. Please explain kid? They won 4 games w a WR that led the league in rec yds and now wont sniff the field....no1 can try and make this situation sound positive.....selfish player #12.

    Just a few lines . . .

o Happy with the Bitonio pick. I thought the O-Line needed some help and Farmer got it. Shocked that David Yankey is still out
there. I really thought someone would have grabbed him by now. (Looks like I was right on Su'a-Filo but wrong on Yankey.)
Bitonio, like Su'a-Filo, offers a ton of flexibility on the line personnel.

o The Christian Kirksey pick did have me shaking my head. Like Irish, I don't know a lot about him but I do recall watching a
tOSU / Iowa game and thought to myself that he reminded me somewhat of James Laurenitis. DO NOT interpret this
as me saying he is as good as (or bad as) Laurenitis . . . just saying that his play ON THAT DAY reminded me of
    Laurenitis.

o Terrance West . . . Admittedly he wasn't even on my radar until Crex and Irish started talking about him during the MnC mock.
When I went to watch some tape of him, I was impressed. Would I have liked to have Carlos Hyde, Ka'Deem Carey or Tre
Mason ? Of course I would but, our available picks and the draft process simply didn't line up.

o Definitely bummed out about the Josh Gordon news and then learning that Nate Burleson broke his pizza delivery arm - again.
Frankly, I wasn't counting on Burleson for that much this year anyway. And we already knew that Gordon was a Dixie cup
away from a very long "vacation".

Assuming the worse and Gordon gets a full year, the WR corp is in pretty dire shape. I think Farmer now has his real work cut
    out for him. Basically, he has two or three options;

    1. Wait for the training camp casualties to present themselves and pick up a cast off WR that someone else didn't want.

    2. Dilute a position of strength and seek to trade a D-Lineman for a second tier WR.

    3. Use the 2015 Rd 1 pick we got from Buffalo and trade for a WR that can contribute now.

I'll let all of you make suggestions as to who those WR's in options 2 and 3 could be.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    On a more personal level;

If any of you are smokers like me and you decide to go the Chantix route . . . make very sure you read all of the side effects disclaimers (every phuquing one of them). When I retired at the start of 2013, I was a 1 to 2 pack a day smoker. Smoking was frowned upon in an office environment and then became illegal. As I was no longer in an office environment, I became a 3 to 4 (sometimes 5) pack a day smoker and, because I also have COPD, I knew I had to do something. Enter Chantix. That chit will turn you into raving maniac. I even picked a fight with my dog.

And last but not least . . . SKIDMARK !!! Good to see you around ! *YAHOO*

  16. The 1st 2 RDS. were good. After that not impressed. With the same players available we would put Farmer to shame. I called the radio and told Grossi what I would of done after the second rd. He said that's not bad. Its not hard to put a 4 win team on the field.

The Browns should sign Miles Austin. Its obvious they want to run the ball and play defense.

  17. Irish this is a 10 loss season team every year. The 1st rd. was good after that a joke. We bullcraped about the draft for months. 2 players will make a difference. 10 picks 2 players. Manziel will back up. Look what the 49ers have done, look at NE, look at the Jags. They know how to draft. Drafting is why we suck.

  18. bluez M.V.P. Browns Indians

The homeless-man ?draft Manziel? anecdote, which arguably was made by ESPN into something more than Browns owner Jimmy Haslam intended, created the unmistakable impression that Haslam influenced the selection of quarterback Johnny Manziel in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft.

With or without that story, the buzz in league circles is that Manziel was indeed a Haslam selection.

This doesn?t mean that Haslam ordered G.M. Ray Farmer to take Manziel. That?s not how it happens. But the man who writes the checks has a way of making his preferences known, and the men whose ability to continue to cash those checks hinges on the owner?s willingness to write them need to be smart enough to know when hints are being dropped.

So while Haslam would never speak up in the draft room about taking a given player, Haslam surely would find a way to make his views known in other ways. And why shouldn?t he? It?s his team. If he wants a given guy, he should say so. And the thinking is that: (1) Haslam wanted Manziel; and (2) Haslam found a way to say so.

Friday?s comments from G.M. Ray Farmer regarding the Manziel selection seem to balance the reality that, while Haslam doesn?t pull rank in the draft room, he doesn?t have to.

?Jimmy is what he?s been the entire time,? Farmer said. ?He asked a lot of questions. He wants to be involved. He?ll make his position known, like we all do. It?s a very collaborative process. The coaches have input, the scouts have input; the board is ranked. Nevertheless, there are several other people that are involved in that as well. At no point during the draft did Jimmy try to influence the decisions that were made. He was well aware ? obviously, he was in the room ? but at no point did he try to push, shove or dictate the pace of what we were doing. He definitely added some interest level behind the discussions that were happening, but nonetheless, he was allowing us to go to work.?

But if Haslam truly was going to allow them to go to work, he would have stayed out of the process completely. By asking questions and making his position known, he undoubtedly sent signals to Farmer about what the owner wanted. Haslam?s presence in the draft room was a constant reminder that, ultimately, he?s the one in charge.

Again, that?s his right as the owner of the team. But it?s almost like Haslam wants to have it both ways, being involved without officially being involved.

  19. Maybe he should of had something to do with the rest of the draft. Instead of 4 wins may be 5/6. As of right now no one to throw too. Maybe Manziel can catch.

  20. Doom and gloom already? The draft isn't even completely over!!! Training camp hasn't begun, not one snap of preseason has been played... I'm gonna wait and see until some actual football is played before I go calling the Browns a 4/5/6 win team...again!
