    Duff,

Tell you what I'll do . . . I'll burp in your general direction.

Jordan Cameron has fired his agent.

It's notable because the Browns had been working on an extension for Cameron, who is set to make just $645,000 as he enters the final season of his rookie contract. Firing agent Michael Hoffman suggests talks were not going as smoothly as the player wanted. Cameron produced far more last season than Jared Cook did in any of his four seasons prior to landing a five-year, $35.11 million deal (with $19 million guaranteed) from the Rams 14 months ago.

Okay makes sense but Ben was 11th and no way Rodgers should have dropped to the 20s.

Top 10 is 10. And the fact remains . . . Rodgers DID drop into the 20's.

Why is it that the Houston Texans can be assumed to drafting a DE with the 1st overall pick in the draft with virtually no feedback about how they need a "franchise" QB. Overall, the Texans probably have more talent on their roster than the Browns and are only two years removed from back-to-back AFCS Titles and the playoffs. The reason they fell so far so fast? QB play. It was so bad, they traded away their QB before this current season. (Don't add injuries . . . all teams have injuries.)

Depending on which depth chart you use, the Texans currently show either Case Keenam or Ryan Fitzpatrick as the #1 QB. The Browns list Brian Hoyer as the starting QB (Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen are clearly "camp arms"). Because of the limited sample size, it is unknown if Brian Hoyer can deliver the goods. However, there is enough on Fitzpatrick and Keenam to state they can't.

Yet . . . If the Browns pass on a QB at #4, there is no doubt they will be chastised for NOT getting their "franchise" QB.

Because our team has sucked since 1999 with one fluke year in there with Ander-ception leading us to a playoff loss against the Steelers. Until the Browns have some maintained success, they will remain the butt of jokes and ridiculous scrutiny by the talking-heads of the sports world.

  9. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Uh, Duff . . . Anderception never made the playoffs. Couch and Holcomb led us to the Foge Fazio meltdown at 3 Rivers in 2002.

The one fact I want to "continually" point out is this notion of "waiting" on a QB with the #26 since you have two picks in the first round...

IF you wait, most likely you do not get your #1 choice at the single most important position in the draft.

My argument is that the risk is lower by taking your guy at #4, whether it is Manziel, Bortles, Carr or one of the other 10 QBs in this draft that could possibly become top passers in the NFL.

Everyone is going to have their top guy in this draft, and the "rankings" of every website and radio station and tv station mean absolutely nothing to me. The professional scouts are what matters and the GMs interpretations from those scouts are what matters...Even if your #1 QB on your board is A.J. McCarron, guess what, if your professionals have him rated the highest, then most likely someone else' professional staff has him rated that highly as well and he won't be available at #26.

If you pass on a QB, then you had better see each and every QB in a very low light, which means none should be taken at #26 either. This draft is deep in talent and if a QB doesn't give you a warm and fuzzy feeling, then one shouldn't be drafted until better talent has fallen off into the 3rd round.

If a single name does give you that warm fuzzy feeling, he NEEDS to be the pick at #4...

    This is my sinking feeling...

Maybe there isn't a top QB in this draft, maybe I am wrong about Manziel and Bridgewater...

Not that the Browns may decide not to take one, but rather maybe they aren't worth taking. If that is the case, then the Browns will continue to be at best an average football team. Until this QB position is upgraded, this team will settle in mediocrity unless about

Right now we do not need to improve:

    LT - Joe Thomas
    C - Alex Mack
    WR - Josh Gordon

    DT - Phil Taylor
    DE - Ahtyba Rubin
    CB - Joe Haden
    S - Donte Whitner
    LB - Karlos Dansby

There is the foundation of your team...8 players

There are others that are nice players like:
    Cameron Jordan
    Brian Hoyer
    Ben Tate

    Tashaun Gipson
    Desmond Bryant
    Billy Winn
    Jabaal Sheard
    Paul Kruger
    Barko Mingo

That's 9 players, but most of these need to upgraded to sustain the type of team you are talking about using to go on a Super Bowl run without a QB to lead you there.

That doesn't even take into account another minimum 5 players needed to round out a starting lineup on defense and offense, which have players that would be depth chart fodder on most NFL teams..

So which is going to be easier to achieve? Replacing 9-14 players with top level talent or finding a QB that can take up the majority of the slack on one side of the ball?

Pretty depressing, if one of these QBs I have an extremely high level of confidence in are figments of my imagination.

Sorry Irish. Just poking the bear.

Tired of all the arguing and bickering going on. Regardless of who the FO drafts, that's who we'll have to root for in hopes of bringing back the Browns to relevancy.

    Is it Thursday yet?

    That's an irrelevant post...

I'm not backpedaling, I have all the confidence in the world, three years from now, either we will be a happy franchise if we have one of these two QBs, or we will be complaining about not taking one of them as they lead their team to the playoffs...

Doesn't mean I'm not wrong...I've never claimed to be God or Nostradamus, whom may be the only two entities that could envision what will happen with any of the 250+ 2014 draftees in their NFL future.

Don't give me the sarcasm font beach, tell me how you feel. I know I have told what I believe for the past 4 months, to the point that it has annoyed the hell out of my own fanbase.

I don't see another fan on here (maybe SAS) that is so sincere in his convictions on what they would like to see to improve this franchise. No one else has a concrete opinion on a single player to take this franchise to another level. And, none has taken more crap for having those convictions..

My bad. I was trying to work and chat in the DPL at the same time and the brain went sideways and lost my train of thought. Was thinking one All-Pro QB via injuries or declining to play by 3 other QB's as our "best QB since '99" :-* and our only playoff game Qb'd by Holcomb.

    *BYE* :|

  18. Duff_Beer_Doug Franchise Player Browns Indians C&D Club

Well, Irish, it's no better being on the other side of that fence where you believe we desperately need a "franchise" QB but have no strong belief in any QB in this draft. And I keep thinking that once again we'll have to wait until next year but they'll win too many stinking games to get an early enough pick and be able to draft that QB.

Stuck in 4/5 wins mode and picking #4 yet again.

    *Sigh*

  19. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Whoa . . . pump the brakes there, Irish!

I think quite a few of us have made it crystal clear what we would like to see to improve this team.

And the part about SAS being sincere? Really?

However, you are 100% correct about the crap you've taken. I doubt that I could have done that.

Here you go Irish. I still don't agree with you for the #4 pick but........
