I think their just puhquin high! Duff stop the IV drip and just put Bluez's case of makers mark on the bar. No amount of kool-aid is gonna fix this mess. Cazy Crex's draft Rant Well folks it looks as if Banner and Lombitard DON'T PHUQUIN HAVE A CLUE!! I'm sorry fellow Browns fans but it would seem that we are destined to live with absolute ineptitude running our beloved Browns. Trading away this years picks to a PHUIING DIVISION RIVAL and for what... 4-5 slots earlier next phuqing year when PIT once again picks in the 20's and we phuqing pick in the top 5 again WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT I didn't like the way this FO was shaping up before the season ended last year and this is just more proof that Haslam got hornswaggled into hiring business folks who don't know jack about football. It is glaringly obvious that they plan on tanking the season to draft high again next year. phuqin morons It's a good thing I've plenty of time to plan my fall and winter activities for this fall as I now have absolutely NO plans to watch the potential crap that Lombatard and Banner plan on putting on the field. Maybe Chud, Norv, and Rya cna do somthin with this team, but I've little faith at this point. Bluez, better order some more Makers, your gonna need it.
Dear Walter... From: Phil McCrackin... Yup he said it out loud... To which Walter replies... Welcome to MT dumbazz!
Or else there saving $$$$ for Haslams defense team ..they still have plenty of cap space & didnt do Shit during the draft . i have ZERO faith in this FO . Haslam screwed his customers what makes one think he wont screw Browns fans ? i bet the season tickets sales are Slooooow after Jim Bob got pinched . Who can blame people for not dishing out the $$$$$$ when you cant trust your owner . this isn't over by a long shot & it STINKS big time
Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner said from the start that they would build the team through the draft. They just didn?t say which draft. On Saturday, they made the statement that the real serious building will have to come next year. They traded away two of their remaining five picks, selected two Division II players and one from Notre Dame still rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon. They also announced a three-year contract extension for newly acquired slot receiver Davone Bess from the Dolphins. But the Browns? signature moves on the third and last day of the NFL draft were trading their fourth-round pick for a third rounder in 2014, and their fifth-round pick for a fourth rounder in 2014. Banner said the philosophy of the day was to maximize value of every asset, ?having in mind the idea of building a really good team over 2-3 years as opposed to just worrying about filling every single need.? This draft may come to be known for the first trade between the Browns and rival Pittsburgh Steelers since 1968, when the Browns obtained quarterback Bill Nelsen for quarterback Dick Shiner. After Nelsen beat the Steelers six of eight times while Shiner bombed out in two seasons, legendary Steelers owner Art Rooney reportedly vowed to never again trade with the Browns. Generations later, the new Browns repaid the favor. They hand-delivered the Steelers an heir-apparent to Troy Polamalu -- Syracuse safety Shamarko Thomas ? by agreeing to give them the 101st overall pick in the fourth round. In return the Browns received Pittsburgh?s third-round pick next year. How badly did the Steelers want Thomas? It?s the first time they traded a future draft pick since 1973. Browns CEO Joe Banner said he had multiple trade offers for future third-round picks but chose the Steelers because ?it was the best deal.? ?I prefer to trade within the division,? Banner said. ?You don?t make a trade if you don?t think you?re winning. So if you?re winning a trade in your own division you?re even better than winning in another division. ?Obviously, that can burn you from time to time, but in Philadelphia we traded (Donovan) McNabb to the Redskins and everybody thought, ?What are we doing?? We thought we strengthened the Eagles and didn?t do anything to help the competitor. We try to make the best deal and don?t care with who if it benefits us.? Banner disputed that his moves give off the feel of throwing in the towel this season. ?We think of our draft as the five players, plus Josh Gordon, plus Bess, plus the two future assets we acquired. Plus the undrafted players we?ll sign,? Banner said. ?Listen, we?re not asking for a free pass for this year. We expect to improve. We expect it to be conspicuous. ?We?re not going to reach all of our goals or fill all of our needs this year. We think we?ll be play aggressive, exciting football and it will be clear the team is continuing to improve and position it well to have a chance to become very good consistently.? The Browns went into their final draft day looking for help in their secondary, but the trade-outs caused them to miss out on seven safeties. Two of them were free safeties of some repute, Phillip Thomas of Fresno State (120th) and Josh Evans of Florida (169th). When they finally made a pick ? roughly four hours into the day ? they selected Notre Dame safety Jamoris Slaughter. Slaughter, 5-11 ? and 195 pounds, tore an Achilles tendon in Notre Dame?s third game in September. He said he should be 100 percent by training camp. Slaughter said he didn?t expect to be drafted. The Browns? final two picks in the seventh round came from Division II schools. They selected defensive end Armonty Bryant of East Central (Oklahoma) University -- Bryant?s third college in four years. The 6-4, 264-pounder dominated his last season with 10.5 sacks in eight games. He had surgery to fix a torn labrum the year before and tweaked the shoulder last year and couldn?t work out at the NFL combine. Bryant had an arrest in October for selling marijuana to an undercover cop on university grounds. He said he expected to go undrafted. ?It was a stupid move on my part,? Bryant said. ?I should have been more mature. Now that I?ve had a second chance, I won?t let anyone down, won?t let the Cleveland Browns down.? The last pick was offensive lineman Garrett Gilkey of Chadron State (Nebraska). Gilkey, 6-5 7/8 and 318 pounds, projects as a guard. Gilkey said he was worked out by Browns offensive line coach George Warhop and had a good feeling the Browns would draft him.
They really couldn't get this guy as an UDFA? All these picks make me sick seeing what else we could have done. This right here shows they don't do homework. They must have went into the draft knowing they were trading those picks away. There was huge value there still in the 4th round.
It's not fair to grade a draft untill three years down the road but something about this one or lack of just STINKS ! like my new sig says ..we are screwed ! been happening since 95 FU Modell you rat bastard ..ROT IN HELL ART !!!!!!!!!!!!
Censorship is un American .. I fought for that right . as a US Army veteran i will say Shit if i want to !
Bluez, maybe u can help me out....Banner said he wants to have a really good team in 2-3 yrs correct? How is that possible when they dont even know the future of their QB position? If Weeden is avg and they go in a different direction, they will b set back 2-3 yrs. Obviously they cant feel 100% committed to him and thats why Campbell is here to compete. This guy is another Carmen Policy.
By Fred Greetham OBR Senior Browns Reporter Posted Apr 28, 2013 ?As we?ve said all along, we?re really not going to force filling a need on a short-term basis as opposed to building the team we want to have to get really good and sustain it,? Banner said. 8 Comments BEREA?At the conclusion of the first round of the draft Thursday night, Joe Banner addressed the media and he summarized the team?s philosophy concerning the draft. He was asked about drafting a cornerback, but his philosophy seems to summarize what happened on Day 3 of the draft for the Browns. ?As we?ve said all along, we?re really not going to force filling a need on a short-term basis as opposed to building the team we want to have to get really good and sustain it,? Banner said. ??We?re not going to fill all the needs of the team this year, it?s just not going to happen, I?ll tell you right now,? Banner said. ?If there?s a guy there we think can be a long-term solution and quality player, we?ll pick him. If it?s just somebody that upgrades us for this year and then we?ll need to replace again, we won?t.? After foregoing trading down in the first round, the Browns took an impact player with the sixth pick in Barkevious Mingo to provide pass rush from outside linebacker. The Browns didn?t have a second-round pick after selecting Josh Gordon in the supplemental draft. They did add veteran wide receiver Davone Bess on the second day of the draft and selected cornerback Leon McFadden in the third-round. On the final day of the draft, the Browns traded their fourth- and fifth-round picks for future picks before finally selecting safety Jamoris Slaughter in the sixth-round. They closed the day out by Day 1 Summary It?s obvious the Browns are going all out to get after the quarterback, besides stopping the run. They have committed a small fortune to upgrade the front seven: Unrestricted free agent additions Paul Kruger ($40.5 million), Desmond Bryant ($34 million), Quentin Groves ($2.2 million) and now first-round pick Mingo, who will command top money as the sixth-overall selection. Even though under the new CBA, player salaries are slotted, Mingo should get more than the $16.2 million that Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne received last year. Those players added to holdover first-round pick Phil Taylor (4 yr $8 million), second-round pick Jabaal Sheard (4 yr $5 million), Ahtyba Rubin (4 yr $27 million) and D?Qwell Jackson (5 yr $42.5 million) will easily put the Browns over the $100 million mark for the front seven. I like the move to continue to add pass rushers. If Mingo can complement what they have opposite Kruger, Groves and Sheard, it could be a home run. Day 2 Summary The trade to acquire Davone Bess gives the Browns another veteran receiver who is dependable in the slot. The Browns haven?t had that guy since Joe Jurevicius was here in and the Browns were explosive under Rob Chudzinski in 2007. Bess is the 14th most productive receiver in the NFL the last four years with 267 receptions since 2009. ?Davone is a proven receiver who has been extremely productive throughout his career,? Chudzinski said. ?He possesses outstanding hands and separation skills, while also showing the ability to pick up yards in key situations. Because of his talent and experience, we feel as though he can come in and help us right away.? I?m glad the Browns added a cornerback in Leon McFadden in the third-round. He should be able to battle for a starting position opposite Joe Haden with the current contingent of candidates. McFadden played four years as a starter and made a lot of big plays. ?I think that is a coach?s call,? Mike Lombardi said when asked if McFadden should start. ?I think he?s got the skills to certainly compete and whoever wins the job will be determined based on their play on the field.? McFadden said playing in the Senior Bowl and the Mountain West conference helped him. ?I took full advantage of the opportunity at the Senior Bowl and showed that there are players in the Mountain West that can play,? he said. ?It was definitely good preparation as they throw a lot and that prepared me a lot for teams that throw the ball.? Day 3 Summary The Browns started the day by trading their fourth-round pick (111th overall) to their arch-rival the Steelers, who promptly selected safety Shamarko Thomas from Syracuse?a perceived position of need for the Browns. Even if the Browns didn?t want Thomas, with all of the holes on the roster there had to be a player on the board that could?ve helped the Browns. It?s curious for a number of reasons. First of all, there is a reason the Browns haven?t traded with the Steelers since 1968 when they obtained quarterback Bill Nelsen. Since the Browns face Pittsburgh twice a year, why take a chance on the player. It was also the first time since 1973 the Steelers traded away a future draft choice. After the dust settled and it appeared the Browns would make their first pick in the fifth-round, they traded again, this time with the Colts for a 2014 fourth-round pick. The Browns came into the draft with many holes to fill and said they couldn?t fill them in one draft, but it seems there had to be players available that could?ve at least provided depth for the Browns in the fourth-and fifth-rounds. On the positive side, the Browns have added assets for the 2014 draft by adding an extra third-and fourth-round pick. After the two trades, the Browns jumped back in and picked Slaughter in the sixth-round. He missed 10 games last season after rupturing his Achilles in the third game of the season. He said he is 90 percent recovered and expects to be ready for the start of training camp. The Browns concluded their day with two seventh-round picks as they added another pass rusher in Armonty Bryant from East Central Oklahoma and offensive lineman Garrett Gilkey from Chadron State. Summary Browns fans have to look at the Browns first four rounds of the draft this way: First round?OLB Barkevious Mingo (6th overall) Second round?WR Josh Gordon (taken in 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft) Third round?CB Leon McFadden (68th overall) Fourth round?WR Davone Bess (traded 104th & 164th in exchange for Dolphins 111th & 217th & Bess) Fourth & Fifth rounds?Extra third- and fourth-round picks in 2014 for 111 & 139) Sixth round?S Jamoris Slaughter (175th overall) Seventh round?DE/OLB Armonty Bryant (217th overall) Seventh round ? OL Garrett Gilkey (227th overall)
this is Weeds make or break year . IMHO Weeds will be just fine this year with real coaching . Campbell is no slouch . he has had some very good games over the years and will be a great help to Weeds as he is a class act & team player . they made trades in this years draft with a eye on next years draft . they are gathering ammo to move up to get a QB if Weeds fails this year .. which i don't think he will if given a fair shot . the WR are upgraded with both Nelson & i love the Bess trade . he has sure hands runs good routes . i am more concerened about the Defense than i am about the offense .

Ya Brett It makes you wonder if they even know how Shamarko Thomas even is.. Joe Banners excuses or reasons for being incompetent make me laugh. Well at least they proved most of us right. I feel bad for CHUD this front Office is a bunch of Tards. Oh wait what?? U say they got a great player in Mingo. Oh great job guys it was the 6th pick in the draft Really good job gettin a good player that high way to go. and u got Josh Gordon That was a really great move by u guys. Keep telling me thats apart of the draft tks. It just sux there was Players out there that really couldve made this team better. Hahahah These guys actually think they Fleeced the Steelers. hahaahhahahahahaahahah hahahah Sorry but that is the funniest part about this. hahahahaha
So... all I've heard until this draft was: The coaching staff is a 10,000x improvement[/*] We have at least four to six offensive playmakers[/*] Brandon Weeden is going to explode like a powder keg in Turner's offense[/*] We only need one or two pieces to compete[/*] ... and what does the F/O do? Gets a CB with little to no upside but a guy who's ready to step in and start Day 1, add a speed freak rush OLB who will spend most of his rookie year as a situational rusher anyway, and lastly get a FS who -- if healthy -- can hold down the FS position. And now the sky is falling. "Sometimes, there just aren't enough rocks."
Spicolli, I guess there was not 1 player from 111 until their next pick to help out this playoff team. They did make the playoffs right so why do they need to inject talent into this team. What a joke
1. 10,000% is a lot, a whole lot. Lets go with this one is better than that one. 2. As for playmakers, we have a few that are dangerous depending on 3. 3. Powder keg? Perhaps not. Much improved, yes, I think so. We will see. I will bet you 500 push ups that he posts better stats this season by week 8 than he did last season by week 8. 4. To compete, yes. To dominate and control the conference, no. As for the draft, or lack thereof, I do not think anyone saw what happened coming, and it still has not really sunk in. There is still another round of FA coming, and a few questions might get answered then. I refuse to gripe till week 8, or 5 losses, whichever comes first.
This draft seems to leave me with more questions than answers. Yes we got pass rushers, lots of them but they seem to be liabilities against the run. We need cb help but didn't get anyone that we definitively can hang our hat on and say, "yep there is our no. 2". Need safety help, same story, can't confidently say the guy they got could or should start. Then in a draft that has been noted for it's depth they trade out and say, "let's wait for next year". I do think we have most of the pieces in place for chud and norv, and considering how much of the draft was focused on the D, Horton must have gotten the pieces he wanted. So now it's wait and see what these guys do with what they got. It's gonna be a long summer.
Two Radical Arab Terrorists boarded a flight out of London. One took a window seat and the other sat next to him in the middle seat. Just before takeoff, a U.S. Marine sat down in the aisle seat. After takeoff, the Marine kicked his shoes off, wiggled his toes and was 'settling in when the Arab in the window seat said, 'I need to get up and get a coke.' 'Don't get up,' said the Marine, 'I'm in the... aisle seat, 'I'll get it for you.' As soon as he left, one of the Arabs picked up the Marines shoe and spat in it. When the Marine returned with the coke, the other Arab said, 'That looks good, I'd really like one, too.' Again, the Marine obligingly went to fetch it. While he was gone the other Arab picked up the Marines other shoe and spat in it. When the Marine returned, they all sat back and enjoyed the flight. As the plane was landing, the Marine slipped his feet into his shoes and knew immediately what had happened. He leaned over and asked his Arab neighbors... 'Why does it have to be this way?' 'How long must this go on? This fighting between our nations? This hatred? This animosity? This spitting in shoes and pissing in cokes?' THE FEW THE PROUD THE MARINES. SEMPER FI !
In a nutshell, I'm underwhelmed. Mingo is a question mark. He could turn out to be all he was projected to be - or - he could be another Courtney Brown. Leon McFadden. Don't know enough about the kid to make any form of judgment now. He better turn out to be better than the Honey Badger. Even my wife knew both the Browns and the Steelers needed another Safety . . . this year. Why give the Steelers the 11th pick this year for a low 3rd pick next year? And, what do the Steelers do with the pick? Grab a Safety. It's not like the Steelers organization doesn't know how to draft. The only other move/pick worth discussing is the addition of Devone Bess and a 7th round pick for one of this year's 5th round picks (plus swap picks in the 4th round). The 5th round pick they gave up was actually the one they received for Colt McCoy so, in essence, they got Bess and a camp fodder pick for next to nothing. My prior impression of Bess was nothing to write home about but, after looking up his stats, this move could probably be put in the plus column. Waiting for next year is getting rather old.
Are any of these situational pass rushers stout against the run ? Mingo wasn't while at LSU .Krueger has never been good against the run neither has Sheard . if we get gashed on the ground smacked in the mouth like pussy's without landing a punch or two of our own i will not be happy no matter how many sacks they get . Time will tell .i am more worried about the defense far more worried than i am about the offense .besides if Weeds stinks it up and i don't think he will we have a proven QB in Campbell who can step in . SAS What FS are you talking about ? the sixth round pick from this draft that missed most of last year ? Safety is a huge problem IMHO . Ward cant stay healthy is still suspect in coverage and the rest totally stink . they proved it last year .
Before the draft, we looked at the needs of the Cleveland Browns. (Eventually, those needs included ?a really good lawyer.?) Now that the draft is over, it?s time to look at how they did. What they needed: Cornerback, quarterback, receiver, linebacker, safety, tight end, kicker. Who they got: Round 1: Barkevious Mingo, LB, LSU. Round 3: Lee McFadden, CB, San Diego State. Round 6: Jamoris Slaughter, S, Notre Dame. Round 7: Armonty Bryant, DE, East Central (OK); Garrett Gilkey, OT, Chadron State. Where they hit: Mingo can be called a luxury pick, given that the Browns didn?t have a pressing need at outside linebacker. But the ability to get to the quarterback no longer is a luxury in the NFL; it?s a necessity. With free-agent acquisition Paul Kruger, the Browns suddenly have the ability to apply the Chudzinski Crunch to the likes of Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, and Andy Dalton. McFadden gives them a potential starter across from Joe Haden, and Slaughter fills an obvious need at safety. Where they missed: With their second-round pick used last July on receiver Josh Gordon, the Browns traded their fourth-round pick for a third-round pick in 2014, and then their fifth-round pick for a fourth-round pick in 2014. For a team that needs to get better now, deferring a pair of picks to next year won?t help that effort, regardless of who they eventually get. Impact rookies: Mingo could become an instant star, especially if opposing offenses opt not to game-plan around him until he proves his ability at the NFL level. McFadden could get a lot of interceptions, if quarterbacks avoid Haden and test the rookie. And if the rookie passes. Long-term prospects: The Browns already had a decent amount of talent, and the decision to not draft a quarterback means that Brandon Weeden will indeed get another year to show that he?s the long-term answer. The lack of any new tight ends, given coach Rob Chudzinski?s affinity for those who play the position, is a good sign for the five guys already under contract.
