Wow... six QBs taken in the top 15 picks? Probably going to happen.

Also gotta agree with Irish. Trent Richardson was the nail in the coffin for that first round running back selection. I honestly hope the Browns don't address the position until R6 - UDFA.

I'm thinking first pick actually has to be a skill player -- preferably wide receiver. Then, if there is a QB left in that second range, we go with that choice. Remember... Brian Hoyer is coming back and should have first crack at the starting job.

It will cost way more than both first round picks to move up in the Top 5 -- especially with so many QB-starved teams.

If I'm pulling the trigger on draft day, I'm not moving around much and going...

    1 - WR
    1 (f/IND) - QB
    2 - CB
    3 (f/PIT) - RT
    3 - QB
    4 - FS
    4 (f/IND) - ILB
    5 - OLB
    6 - TE
    7 - RB

Why not take two QBs? Especially if we're outside of the Top 5 and missing the big-time guys like Bridgewater, Mariota and Hundley (again... assuming they even decide to declare). Washington was in a good position by picking QB and QB, despite other, more pressing needs.

And especially in our situation given that we *might* have a competent starter already on hand if Hoyer bounces back from his injuries. There's no need to rush guys in and we can instead develop them in the system.

IF YOU MARRY AN OHIO GIRL ...

Three friends married women from different parts of the country.

The first man married a woman from Texas . He told her that she was to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.

The second man married a woman from Tennessee. He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. The first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was a huge dinner on the table.

The third man married a girl from Ohio. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher. He still has some difficulty when he pees.

    Au contraire Mon frere...

There are several RGIII's and Bridgewater is as close to an Andrew Luck as you are going to get..At the very least a Matt Ryan type..

    The Morning Kickoff ?

Flash, Gordon: Browns CEO Joe Banner said the Browns are not shopping Josh Gordon, their most talented offensive player, and would be ?shocked? if he were traded before Tuesday?s NFL trading deadline.

Yet a day doesn?t go by in which a national scribe doesn?t include Gordon on a list of players ?most likely to be traded.? Some have explicitly stated that the Browns would gladly make a deal for a second-round pick.

It?s a passive-aggressive way of announcing that Gordon is indeed available. And he?s smart enough to figure it out.

?I?m tired,? Gordon said this week. ?I honestly wish if it was going to happen, I wish it would happen already, instead of dragging on. If a trade offer came in and that?s what they wanted to do, so be it. If not, then let it be known that this is where I?m going to be.?

The persistent trade rumors have had the counter-productive effect of demoralizing Gordon.

?When you hear you?re about to be traded, it?s like your spirit changes a little bit,? said running back Willis McGahee, who has experienced that.

?I would hope not, but I?m realistic to know, yeah,? said offensive coordinator Norv Turner. ?He?s a young guy (22 years old). He?s not very experienced. He wasn?t the go-to guy as a young player, so this is all a new thing for him. I think when you add those things to it, it can affect him.

?We?re doing our best to keep him focused and let him understand that he?s our guy and we want him to be as good as he can get.?

On body language: Gordon took some heat after the Green Bay game for a drop, for failure to come back and fight for one of Brandon Weeden?s errant passes, and for ?bad? body language throughout the offensively dismal contest. Because Gordon is the most physically talented player on the Browns, every one of his bad plays is over-scrutinized and over-analyzed as an indication that he is ?dogging? it.

?Everybody wants Josh to be Josh when he?s at his best,? Turner said. ?I do, Josh does, everyone does. I?ve been with young receivers and I don?t know if that?s realistic. We?re pushing him and he?s working hard.

?I watch all these tapes of all these other guys and they don?t catch every ball, and when it?s a contested ball they don?t jump over the top of the guy every time. I?m sure they want to and their coaches want to. I think Josh is making great progress. The young receivers I?ve been around, it?s in their third or fourth year when you start seeing all those things happen.

?We?re going into our third quarterback. That affects a receiver. He?s getting a lot of attention because people know he?s a big-time threat, so there?s a lot of things involved. I?ll say the same thing, I hate when someone sees a play and says there?s a lack of effort. There?s a lot of things going on. I wouldn?t question Josh?s effort.?

On the biggest offensive play of the Green Bay game, Gordon was criticized for not fighting hard enough for an underthrown Weeden balloon ball on a fourth-and-15 desperation play in the fourth quarter.

Turner saw the play this way:

?He?s running free and he?s open and Brandon got hit right when he threw it and the ball didn?t have much on it, and those are hard balls to judge and time. What really happened, as I perceive it, Josh jumped a little too early because he thought the ball had a little more on it. He jumped early and then you throw off your timing. I thought he did the best he could.?

Lack of support: When the Browns traded for Davone Bess, it was hailed as an excellent move partly because it finally brought a veteran receiver to ?mentor? the young guys, particularly Gordon and Greg Little.

But Bess was reluctant in training camp to assume that role and it appears not much progress has been made on that front. Gordon remains a loner on the team, which feeds the perception that he is a failed drug test waiting to happen.

McGahee noted, ?Josh is a good kid. I think he just needs another veteran receiver to show him how things go. Just throwing out a name, Andre (Johnson), if he was on a team with Andre and could see how Andre works.??

I?ve said many times that Gordon has more physical ability than any Browns receiver I?ve ever seen. The club has a responsibility to harness and develop that ability, not discard it for a draft pick. But they seem intent on trading him.

I asked Gordon if there is a small part of him that would welcome a trade, welcome a chance, say, to be reunited with Robert Griffin 3, or to join Tom Brady or Colin Kaepernick and play with a good quarterback on a team headed to the playoffs. Just imagine Gordon in the New England offense with Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

His answer surprised me. I expected him to smile and say something like, ?I?m cool with that.?

Instead, he said, ?It?s not up to me in that regard. I?m right here in Cleveland and I want to make a difference in Cleveland. This is where I?m at right now. Whatever happens (Tuesday), I?ll have to deal with that then. But my head, my space is right here and this is what I?m focusing on.?

  10. Bring it on down here Lym! I'll take you out for some saltwater fishin'! I really need to get a boat! I've been doing a lot of pier fishing this past week! (My birthday was Tuesday and the Misses got me a cast net and using the old B-Day excuse to do as much fishing as possible) Now all I need is a boat! So tow her on down here and it won't have to be out of the water that long! First COOLER of Kool-Aid will be on me! *DRINK*

Okay, so we're heading west to play the undefeated Chiefs on Sunday. Has anyone taken the time to look and see just how the Chiefs are still undefeated?

So far they've beaten the Jags (0-7), Cowboys (4-3), Eagles (3-4), Giants (1-6), Titans (3-4), Raiders (2-4) and Texans (2-5). Their opponents combined record so far is: 15-33. Not exactly scintillating.

Jamal Charles is averaging 80 yds / game rushing (4.2 / carry). He's fumbled 3 times in the last three games (losing 2 of them).

Alex Smith is averaging 224 yds / game passing (6.3 / pass). He's had 4 interceptions (all of them in the last 4 games) and has been sacked 18 times (8 in the last 4 games).

They are averaging 24 points / game while giving up only 12 points / game. (Against that juggernaut schedule shown above).

That said: Chiefs will win. Our Browns fall right in line with the cupcake schedule they've enjoyed so far.

the Chiefs are very beatable . contain Charles and make Smith beat you . there WR aren't that good . there defense has been carrying them all season long . our O Line will have there hands full .

if Campbell takes care of the ball and gets some time the Browns can win it . lean on the ground game contain Charles .

Andy Reid is getting a butt-load of credit in the national media for "turning" that team around. They went 9-7, 7-9 and 2-14 in three back-to-back seasons. Which of those years do you suppose was the anomaly?

    (see: 2011 Colts. 14-2, 10-6, 2-14, 11-5)

The Chiefs were already a solid team with a good defense and good running game. Their QB issues decimated their 2012 season and were masked by the other aspects of the game in the years prior.

As you point out in their schedule, they're not exactly a "juggernaut" and this isn't some crazy turn-around. The Browns actually *do* have a chance in this game, especially with Weeden on the sidelines.

I think it will have to be won unconventionally -- trickery, fake plays, stout defense, some excellent special teams play, because that offense isn't scaring anyone. But I remain cautiously optimistic.

CLEVELAND ? During a routine traffic stop this morning in which he was cited for driving 46 MPH in a 35 zone, Browns QB Brandon Weeden attempted to gain favor with the Cleveland Municipal policeman who was writing him the citation by reminding the officer that he was a well-known player for the local football team, a move which only served to anger the patrolman further, local sources confirmed today.

    WEEDEN TRAFFIC TICKET

?Hey, uh, I just have to ask. You know who I am, right? I play quarterback for the Browns. Brandon Weeden? Maybe you?ve heard of me?? Weeden, 30, reportedly said to the officer. ?I was wondering if maybe you could let me off with a warning this time? I?d be happy to sign any autographs you might want for, you know, your kids or brother-in-law or whoever.?

The officer, Sgt. Dennis Mayall, 51, scowled briefly upon hearing Weeden?s request, but did not otherwise pause while writing the citation.

?Sir I know who you are,? Sgt. Mayall growled at Weeden. ?I?ve been a Browns season ticket holder for going on twenty-five years now. I selected you in the 7th round of the 53rd Precinct?s fantasy football draft. I can assure you Mr. Weeden, that you?re only making things worse for yourself right now.?

?And you know what? I can?t help but notice that your rear passenger side tire looks a little low on air,? continued the twenty-seven year veteran of the force. ?I?m afraid that now I?m going to have to issue you an additional ticket for failure to keep your vehicle in safe operating condition.?

The two tickets will reportedly cost Weeden a combined $475, plus points on his license and a likely increase in his automotive insurance rates.

In related news, injured Cleveland QB Brian Hoyer, who started for the Browns in their only three wins of the season, was apprehended early this morning attempting to smuggle a U-Haul full of illegal fireworks and high-grade methamphetamines across state lines, but was released with a warning when he posed for pictures with excited Ohio State Troopers.

contain Charles and make Smith beat you...POSSIBLY WITHOUT DWAYNE BOWE!!

Not that Bowe has excited anyone this year, but he is their best weapon not named Charles...

The fact is, it really wouldn't take much for Campbell to outplay Smith...

It will depend much on the defense/special teams, on both sides...If the Browns can get an early advantage from special teams and/or defense and some how get an early lead, it will take much away from the Chiefs game plan.
