If he was on the practice squad for the Packers, he must have either torn the ACL in that short window *OR* he had the injury on the practice squad. It could have been over-looked by the Packers or they could have tried to bury him there for fear of losing him al la Jake Ballard. Johnson was extremely productive, albeit at the D-2 level, and tested well. He would have been in the top of the WR class in drills if he had been to the Combine. Lord knows the Browns can find room on their roster for a 6'2" 218 pound guy who can run a 4.38.
No Temptation: Offensive coordinator Norv Turner backed away when asked if he thought of switching to QB Jason Campbell. "That's not my call," Turner said. "That temptation is not there for me." Turner said that he sees QB Brandon Weeden improving. "I see him getting better every day." Turner was asked if he has seen other quarterbacks he's worked with make such a bad interception thrown awkwardly underhand as Weeden did against the Lions. "I've coached a long time and that's not the first time I've seen that," Turner said. "(Weeden) feels worse than anybody." Turner said that he could name Pro Bowl quarterbacks and Super Bowl quarterbacks he's coached make mistakes like that, but wouldn't disclose who he was referring to. Johnson Damaged Goods: WR Charles Johnson was signed off of the Packers' practice squad last week, but the Browns found out he had a torn ACL, which will sideline him for the season. Because the Browns signed a player off a team's practice squad to their 53-man roster, the NFL rules say that a player must be kept on the active roster for three games. Thus, the Browns will have just a 52-man roster through the Chiefs game. Johnson was a seventh-round draft choice by the Packers in 2013 and he was on their practice squad until the Browns added him on Oct. 12 Backing His Teammate: DB Joe Haden was wearing a Browns brown jersey during the open locker room time with 'Weeden' on the back and a numeral '3' on the front. Haden was asked if he was making a statement regarding his beleaguered quarterback. "No statement, just always buy jerseys when I'm out supporting my boys."
football was real then , not the watered down version we get today . you could actualy hit someone then .
he Green Bay Packers are heavy favorites in Vegas going into Week 7. According to Oddsshark, the Packers are favored by double digits over the Cleveland Browns. The line opened at -11 in Green Bay's favor and most books have them anywhere from -10 to -11.5. The Packers recovered from a slow start to the season and won two games in a row. They now sit at 3-2 after squeaking out a 19-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Vegas gave them even odds in that game and they were able to beat the spread by winning. Green Bay is 3-2 against the spread this year. That win didn't come without a price, though. Randall Cobb and James Jones both suffered injuries that knocked them out of the game. Jones is hoping to play this week, but Cobb will be out for several weeks with a fractured fibula. The Browns had their two-game winning streak snapped by the Detroit Lions, losing 31-17. They were 2.5 point underdogs in that game and never came close to covering the spread. Cleveland is now 3-3 in the standings and 3-3 against the spread.
That was a bit before my time ya ole fart. *DONT_KNOW* I couldn't tell ya w/ out doing a bit-o-research. Though I do remember reading a few stories about the Mud Bowl...

Now I'm a bit confused *SCRATCH* I thought the photo in question was from the 1965 Championship game (played Jan 2, 1966). Which would make #49 Walter Beach... But I'll defer to those old enough to have been there
