On the bright side...did anyone notice Armonty Bryant when he came in?? He was in full on beast mode. Also, Mingo showing up in the run D. "pass rush specialist"..pssshhh.. He was engaged with their LT and reached out with one hand and corralled their RB....he's legit.
Reports are he had shortness of breath, but also a slight irregular heart beat. Not really a big deal, they are very common. Chud said he is fine and will be practicing and getting ready for Detroit as normal.
With the clear exception of course on the C.J. Spiller TD run...Really is too bad that play happened, the run defense turned in another stellar performance last night. Spiller had 8 rushes for 66 yards or 8.25 yards per carry, pretty darn good night, right? Well you take away Mingo's rookie mistake and the remainder of his night more signifies why the Bills lost... 7 rushes for 12 yards or 1.7 YPC The Bills as a team: 31 rushes (impressive) for 155 yards or 5YPC (still impressive), then take away their one good play... 30 rushes for 101 yards and it is a more pedestrian 3.36 ypc... Now, the Browns weren't any better at 29 rushes for 91 yards or 3.14 ypc...the difference? Defense, Special Teams and yes even Brandon Weeden... Point is, this team will win or lose as a team this year, when one is lackluster, the other must compensate. We now have two other branches of a team, that the offense doesn't have to win the game, they merely have to manage it.
Saw action in 14 games, starting six of them. Pro Football Focus gave Watson a drop rate of 5.77% in 2012 (52 catchable balls with 49 receptions made). That was higher than Jimmy Graham, Rob Gronkowski, Vernon Davis and Jason Witten. Can't argue with any of that.
You lost me there. Completed only 54% of his passes and over-shot Gordon on his touchdown reception. We're fortunate Josh Gordon is a beast. Unless you were commending him for not being his typical "Captain Turnover" self, in which case I would have to agree with you.
FYI... not picking on you or anything, beach. Just saying that there are no excuses for Brandon Weeden. He's the worst QB in the NFL, with the exception of the mind-shattering ineptitude of "Blame" Gabbert. He's proven only one thing and that is, statistically, he rates as the worst starting QB for the Browns since the rebirth.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what I was saying...he outplayed the Bills QB, which isn't saying much, but in the end is what is needed.
crex... I assume that image depicting the "beating a dead horse" is just a reminder of how 100% dead-to-rights correct I was in my assessment about Weeden? And now that everyone else agrees with me, it's starting to seem like piling on?
*THUMBSUP* It's no secret of your assesment of Weeden. I do agree with some of your points(75% range). It may be more hope than factual that I think Weeden could improve in those areas. Some of your comparisons are a bit outragous. Just tired of hearing the same things repeated over and over. Move on and let it stand where it is.
I think you're being unfair. He was a rookie last year and he was asked to play with 5 other rookie starters on offense. That alone should buy him some time and if that wasn't enough he had the worst combination of HC / OC in the history of football. These numbskulls were so intent on teaching him how to play under center they forgot their jobs were on the line. It doesn't get any dumber than that. Cameron - he only played 338 snaps. That's not even a third of their season. If anyone deserves more of an opportunity than Brandon Weeden I'd like to meet him.
How about: Teddy Bridgewater Tajh Boyd Marcus Mariota Johnny Manziel Brett Hundley ????? Would you argue any of these could be a higher ceiling prospect than Weeds? Especially considering they all have approximately 12-15 years of their career left, to about 5-7 for Weeds? EDIT: I might add, my hopes for a speedy recovery for Hoyer to play the next couple of seasons to get this young player ready...not Weeden
Poor choice of words. I meant if any deserves to be allowed to play this year and see what he is capable of. As for the college guys it's too early for me. I'll start looking at them in December.
But they're playing right now, by December they will only have one game left and a bunch of film on YouTube with only the good things they do...
Nah youtube has full games condensed without commercials. You can see every offensive snap in 15-20 min.
