Several league sources" tell the Cleveland Plain Dealer they believe Alabama CB Dee Milliner's medical history was leaked to the media in a "smear campaign" before the draft. The medical report -- which includes a torn labrum in Milliner's shoulder, a past knee scope, a rod in his tibia, and a past hernia surgery -- was reported Monday by both Chris Mortensen of ESPN and NFL Network's Charley Casserly. "Teams have known about these surgeries all along," a source told the Plain Dealer. "They haven't been a secret and this is not a big issue." Mortensen insisted on air that the medical report is "not misinformation," and corroborated the source's side, saying "all teams have this same information."
Good to be back guys. Hopefully I can keep things going this time. Getting buried at work... Very excited to see what is in store for the draft this year. I am pretty sure a trade down will be up first. Anyway, pass one over here Duff! I think we are all going to need it!
By Dave Kolonich OBR Browns Reporter Posted Apr 23, 2013 It?s the draft and around these parts, that?s enough to renew optimism. 1 Comment The march to the NFL Draft ? or what?s known as the Browns? personal Jesus ? is nearly over. This year, the ever-increasing heft of the event is tied to yet another front office reboot and coaching change ? along with the stark new realization that the team?s new owner is less of a franchise savior and quite possibly a felon. Browns? football! Still, it?s the draft and around these parts, that?s enough to renew optimism ? if not a PSL. To review, here are the latest draft resources from Reboot ? featuring some really smart guests. Ten Draft Truths ? Part One Kanicki-Kolonich Exchange: Do the Browns HAVE to Draft A Cornerback at Number Six? Kolonich-Kanicki Exchange ? Kanicki?s Response Story Time With Sobo ? Draft Talk QB Review 2013 QB Review 2013 ? Asking the Question Draft Talk With Aaron Aloysius of Draft Breakdown.com Draft Talk With Aaron Aloysius of Draft Breakdown.com ? Part Two Now, for the last of the Draft Truths: 6. Dee Milliner Will Be Joe Haden?s Replacement? In Time Being that Mike Lombardi and Joe Banner are on a quest to validate their reputations as the Smartest Guys in the Room ? and to a lesser degree, run an NFL team ? there will be some re-drafting of sorts occurring this week. In a sense, this process began in free agency with the signing of Desmond Bryant to fill what was mostly an already-filled defensive line spot. The makeover will no doubt continue if the Browns hold onto are stuck with the sixth overall pick. And while the possibilities of a Haden-Milliner corner duo are intriguing, they will also be short-lived. Much in the way that the ultra-productive Ahtyba Rubin will be a cap casualty next season, look for Banner to cut the cord with Haden rather than pay two corners first round money ? despite the relative value of the current first round contract slotting. 7. Trading Down is Easier Said Than Done It?s always curious when a draft is characterized as generally weak, yet reports surface that teams want to trade up. This year?s version is especially unique in that most of the perceived value can be found virtually anywhere in the first round and beyond. In the Browns? specific case, there isn?t a player who screams to be taken with the sixth overall pick and the projected first players to go are offensive tackles and defensive linemen ? two relative areas of strength in Cleveland. Of course, ideally it would be a steal if the Browns can move down a dozen or so spots and recoup their second-round draft pick. Easier said than done ? that is, unless a (more) QB-needy team gets nervous or a run on left tackles occurs. While the math adds up for say a Browns-Dolphins trade, you have to wonder if the real value is worth a trade. Also, let?s not ignore the possibility that a team drafting ahead of the Browns makes the first move. 8. There?s a Still a Last Wave of Free Agency To Arrive The youth movement begun by Tom Heckert continues under Banner and Lombardi and if anything, has been accelerated. Again, if Rubin is/will be considered old next season, then it?s obvious what the overall direction of this team personnel-wise will be. Similarly, the releases of Chris Gocong and Usama Young and the lack of interest in Phil Dawson, Josh Cribbs and other reinforces this idea. However, there are still some quality free agents remaining and of course, even after the draft the Browns will still have some roster holes to fill. It wouldn?t be surprising to see Lombardi and Banner ignore (another) weak safety class in favor of signing Kerry Rhodes for a year. Likewise, there are still some decent veteran inside linebackers and pass rushers available. 9. At Least We Know Who Visited With the Browns To get a better idea of who the Browns COULD take, here?s a nice reference. Of course, resources like this were much easier to use when Heckert was running the draft. Over the past few years, Heckert tended to zone in particular schools to grab multiple draft picks. Alabama, Pittsburgh and Nebraska were such pipelines. Usually, you could sense that Heckert was zeroing in one player (Jabaal Sheard for example), and discovered another (Jason Pinkston). However, with a new front office comes a whole new dynamic. And while Banner and Lombardi have taken their media lumps, let?s give some credit to both ? along with the Browns? personnel and scouting teams ? for dramatically widening the range of their evaluations. While most of the visiting players have come from bigger conference schools, there is no regional focus and the variety of positions covered suggests that the front office may be preparing for an Eric Mangini-esque circus of first round options. 10. The Return of the Absentee Owner Finally, what would a Browns? draft be without the team?s owner hiding in the shadows? In terms of the Browns? own Arrested Development, we?ve gone from an owner who graduated from the Milford Academy to one who?s about to be on the lam

By Zac Jackson Fox Sports Ohio Posted Apr 24, 2013 There's a chance that no Big Ten Conference player will be drafted in the first round. There's a chance the first player drafted will be from the Mid-American Conference. 0 Comments In what's regarded by longtime observers as a strange NFL Draft, this not-so-little tidbit might sound strangest of all. There's a chance that no Big Ten Conference player will be drafted in the first round. There's a chance the first player drafted will be from the Mid-American Conference. No typo. Do not adjust your screen. 2012 was a banner season for the MAC and not such a great one for the Big Ten, so if this was ever going to happen, this seems the year. Don't count on it becoming a trend or a permanent thing, though Central Michigan and its MAC brethren should both celebrate and try to capitalize on offensive tackle Eric Fisher's fast rise. All this attention is a pretty good recruiting tool. Fisher is no guarantee to go to the Kansas City Chiefs with the No. 1 overall pick when the 2013 NFL Draft starts Thursday night, but he's thought to be in the mix. He's not expected to fall out of the top five, and maybe not out of the top two. He's poised to become the highest MAC player ever drafted, ahead of Marshall's Byron Leftwich (No. 7, 2003), Bowling Green's Bernie Casey (No. 9, 1961), Toledo's Dan Williams (No. 11, 1993) and Miami-Ohio's Ben Roethlisberger (No. 11, 2004). The last time a Big Ten player wasn't selected in the first round was 1953. Fisher entered high school in Rochester Hills, Mich., as a quarterback, punter and linebacker. He'd grown to 6-foot-6 by the time he was a senior, and it's around that time he told his high school coach, Calvin Gross, that he wanted to play college football. Gross told him his football future, if there was one, would be as a lineman. Fisher started putting in the requisite work and adding weight. He attended five one-day exposure camps in the summer before his senior year. "I didn't get a sniff from any Big Ten school," he said. By the time National Signing Day rolled around, he was a 230-pound tackle in training who had two Div. I offers, from Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. Scout.com and other scouting services pegged him a two-star recruit. "I loved the program and atmosphere at Central when I was being recruited, loved the coaching staff at the time and I never looked back," Fisher said. Seventy-some pounds and five years later, Fisher is an athletic ? and still developing ? player at one of the NFL's big-money positions. He's been in New York City for the draft since the beginning of the week, and he's confident he won't wait long Thursday night to hear his name called. "This whole thing is just a dream," Fisher said. "(Going in the top five) would be a huge honor, obviously a dream complete." WHAT'S UP WITH HANK? As for the Big Ten, Ohio State early-entry defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins and Purdue defensive tackle Kawann Short are first-round possibilities but certainly not locks. Even 48 hours from the start of the draft, no one seems to know for sure which direction this first round is headed. Hankins announced back in December he was giving up his senior season to head to the NFL, and the decision made sense. There's been little buzz about him in the months since ? which sometimes is a good thing and sometimes is a bad thing. Even if he's not a first-round pick, it's hard to imagine Hankins falling out of the draft's top 50 selections. He can play multiple positions in multiple defenses and though he wasn't always a consistent producer, he shed weight (nearly 50 pounds since enrolling at Ohio State) and seems to have the athleticism and upside NFL teams love in their defensive line prospects. Speaking last week at an informal media session, Luke Fickell ? Ohio State's head coach in 2011 and co-defensive coordinator last season ? addressed what he's told NFL teams about Hankins and the notion that Hankins may be slipping in this draft. "I think John did everything we asked him to do, and everything that we would've expected him to do," Fickell said. "I think the reality is that when they test you, and they do those things, and they start to dig, they start to say, 'Well is this guy a four-down guy? Is he a three-down guy? Is he a two-down guy? And what is he?' And I think that's what they still have some questions about. Does he wear down? Does he this? Is he that strong? When they really start to dive in, I mean, no one knows. "To me, that kid's got all the intangibles. He's not scratched the surface on how good he can be, because physically, he's still a young kid." Zac Jackson appears courtesy of FoxSportsOhio.com
I love MAC Football .i am a Buckeye fan BUT if a MAC School from Ohio ..I stress Ohio goes into the Shoe and upsets the Buckeyes i wont be upset like some will be . I would love it as some Buckeye fans are just lunatics . i can see the death threats now being tossed at the coaches & players .. they would have something to tell there kids & grandkids about thats for sure .
New Browns linebacker Quentin Groves was arrested last week on charges of solicitation after being caught in a sting run by the Orange and Beachwood police along with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department, Scene has learned. On April 17, according to the police report, Groves arrived at Room 231 of the Homestead Guest Studios. He had responded to an ad and requested "full service" from an officer posing as a prostitute offering sex for hire, according to records. A price was agreed upon during the call before he arrived. His court date is May 10. $195.70 and a box of Magnum condoms were seized as evidence. The Browns had just signed Groves to a two-year, $2.8 million contract in March. A call to the team for comment has not yet been returned. 14 other men were arrested in the three-day operation.
thanks bluez and i think we won't have that problem here. CBS had a bizarre approach on this particular topic - seems like trolling was acceptable at cBS as long as u didn't break any other rule at the same time. pretty sure that doesn't apply here
Almost hate to say this outloud, but I would rather he pay for it, than impregnate half of the Cleveland Flats party goers.. I hope it doesn't impede his progress...This is not as high on my list of shame(as long as it isn't underage) as something like a DUI..Where he could actually kill someone.
