Last season we were everyone's target.....Much better flying under the radar.

I agree wholeheartedly with that. Maybe we can get through camp without the intense scrutiny and, God willing, no one does something remarkably stupid, to draw the national media (I'm talking to you Odell, but am worried about Garrett, Hunt, and even Mayfield).

There has to be a true "us mentality" that understands the concept of TEAM. Plenty of personalities, that can make or break the team concept.

Browns set to hire Joe Woods as defensive coordinator

The Browns had to wait until after the Super Bowl to hire their defensive coordinator, but the team’s hiring of Joe Woods will become official soon, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports.

Woods coached the 49ers’ defensive backs and served as the defensive passing game coordinator.

He worked with new Browns coach Kevin Stefanski in Minnesota from 2006-13.

“With Kevin, I’ve had a relationship with him, coaching on the same staff,’’ Woods told Cabot during Super Bowl Week. “So if that were to happen, I feel it would be very easy, a seamless transition. There’s a trust factor there. He knows my work ethic. He saw me in the building for eight years, so he knows what I’m all about, so I don’t think there would be a problem there.’’

The 49ers wanted to keep Woods, but the promotion to defensive coordinator working for a coach he knows well was too big of a draw apparently.

Woods’ only experience as defensive coordinator came with the Broncos in 2017-18. He also has spent time with the Bucs and the Raiders.

The Browns already have hired Alex Van Pelt as offensive coordinator and Mike Priefer as special teams coordinator.

FUN FACT 1: Baker was #3 last season.

FUN FACT 2: Freddie didn't use play-action in 2019, so Baker didn't have enough attempts to qualify.

I want at coach who plays to their quarterback's strengths. Passing off play-action is one of those.

    • Tannehill had Henry
    • Brees had Kamara
    • Minshew had McCaffrey
    • Mayfield had Chubb (and Hunt)
Is it any wonder why Goober is now in charge of washing jock straps for the New York Giants?

In case anyone was wondering if Joe Woods was going to ruin Myles Garrett...

On a serious note, when you see how spectacularly the offense came off the rails last year, it's no surprise that Kitchens was fired but even less surprising why Dorsey was. This went sideways so fast that if you were going to be the "strong hand" in the organization, there should have been adjustments made.

Jarvis Landry recently gave this interview about the season where he flat out says: "the first 15 [scripted] plays of the game, we're clicking and we're executing what we practice... after that, I don't think anyone knew what the plan was".

Gotta admit I find it hard to get excited about any of this.

I've seen what coaching can do / undo, so having a "new coach" just means we're stirring the pot in some new untested way. What will it taste like?
