pretty sure that game came down to bob being a better fan than me last night. good job bob, i'll be back and even more drunk on Saturday.

that 2nd period was horrific from the Bruins end.

thought that the big fat saint was going to get the trick. disappeared after Horton went down. will we see the cyclops now? would think thats the option if Horton is out. looked like one of those weird shoulder injuries. I'm sure they'll have him eating deer antler in a hyperbaric chamber while rubbing some Barry Bonds cream on it.

    Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 11m (1:30am)

Just watched Nathan Horton walk down the hall at United Center. Didn't notice any injury. Looked pretty mobile.

Unlike most fans, I'm not afraid to take the credit. I'll have my work cut out for me going forward.

Now I think you have to out drink matty in order for the Hawks to continue their winning ways at home. Sounds like a win, win situation. *DRINK*

How about Daugavins in OT? that was really something. pretty embarrassing that he was looking for a call on that too.

after a few hours of sleep, a bad hangover and a triple OT loss this is the only thing thats keeping me going.

Good luck to you and your liver matty.

Very interesting reading fan comments from both teams. You can tell neither one is very familiar with the other team, I wonder if that's going to change a bit after a couple games.

I would imagine Julien brings the forwards back in a little to support the d on outlets and I bet Q takes some of the emphasis off the hitting. I thought Boston was trying to play too much of Chicago's game by playing a little open and I thought Chicago was playing Boston's game by playing to so much contact.

I would have picked Boston winning games 1 and 3 and Hawks winning 2 and 4 before the series started. So far, so wrong.

i hope you're right bob. Hawks D did a good job of pinching and keeping the puck in the O zone, especially in the 2nd half of that game.

Hawks d very dangerous. I think Boston was a little surprised at how many chances the Chicago dmen took and how difficult it was to get scoring chances afterward without being ready for it and I think Chicago was surprised that Boston was willing to play wide open for extended stretches on multiple lines.

It was interesting watching what the game turned into. I was expecting a much more conservative game by both teams, I was pleased we didn't get that.

Who was that new guy in #36 for Chicago? We haven't seen him this year. Amazing watching how tired both teams were, even the goalies. I hope Horton is able to get back out there. I don't want the series decided with key players missing. I hope Marchand and Shaw make buddies. I was happy Chara didn't eat Shaw, Shaw would have been a mcnugget (are those irish?) for him. If only Shaw had 2" and another 20+ lbs. Julien has some good color now, usually he takes a redder sheen on when he's barking. Nice execution on by the 4 -forward pp unit for Boston, Chicago can't do that.

I was wrong about predicting the Hawks' pp, you'll see how well they do shooting it in next game. I was laughing mockingly at Pierre when he was claiming Campbell would be sorely missed on the pk for Boston. Silly Pierre, you haven't been watching Chicago's pp very closely. I expect Chicago to take more d.o.g. penalties immediately after a Boston penalties later this series.

Julien complimented Andrew Shaw on his ability to embellish. Thank you Claude.

that was a good sell job, head snapped back like he was shot. clearly Julien shouldn't complain about it though, part of the game and it really was a good sell. He's become more vocal over the past couple seasons, doesn't look good on him....doesnt look good on anyone.

even w/ your warning I was surprised how the Hawks refused to shoot on the 2 man advantage. Hossa too. Played catch pretty well but never really looked like they even wanted to shoot.

entertaining for sure. thought the game changed a few times as it went along. After St BF netted the 1st goal I thought the Bruins did a good job of playing their inside/out take no chances game. AFter going down 2-0 the Hawks roared back and really took it to the B's. Bruins lucky to get to OT overall. Tough breaks on the last 2 Hawk goals but thats taking nothing away from them. Crawfish played really well. Thought that pad save on Seguin was a beauty.

Krug turnover less than ideal, i think he was trying to avoid getting another Too many men penalty. Second option of tape to tape on the opposition's stick probably wasn't a great one. I like me some Krug but I think Bartkowski is far better suited to matchup against the Hawks.

Especially with shooters like Hossa and Sharp out there. They continue to amaze me with the man advantage. I want Kompon gone. They don't like to shoot, they like to practice puck possession. When I'm at the game, it's one of the only times I yell. Seems like everybody stares at me as I curse the pp, but I was able to motivate that unit game 5 vs. Detroit. They need me to fix the pp, that's the only conclusion I can come to.

I thought the Hawks carried the 2nd and 3rd once they backed off some of the hitting, but I gave the Bruins the edge in OT, particularly the 1st and 3rd OT. I thought both teams caught some good and bad breaks and some good and bad bounces. Lots of interference, hooks, and marginal stickwork that went uncalled, I hope it stays that way. Neither team got out of hand with crosschecks and all the high shots after whistles. I thought the Detroit and Chi series was nastier, but this series will get there. It was just two good, professional teams focused on playing, I really liked that even when Boston had the advantage.

It looked like one of those mistakes every young dman has to learn the hard way 3 times their first 100 games. I thought his head was in the right place by staying away from the bench side, I felt bad for him. I'll bet he doesn't make that pass again for a while.

Quenneville is going to have Frolik, Kruger, and Kane attack Krug's side all series, I'm sure Julien sees the problem there. He's a good shooter, but it's so much tougher to hide him on the road. I agree that Bartkowski is probably the better player for the series. Boston isn't going to move the puck and get rebounds like LA to the point their are going to get dmen open for an open shot like we saw from Muzzin, Voynov, and Doughty that series. If Julien can figure out a way to get those chances, Krug might be worth the risk, but right now I would agree with you.

Bollig was useless, I think we'll see Stalberg game 2. I can't imagine how broken down the players were this morning. My buddy Thornton scared the crap out of me with his scoring chances, I wish I could explain how I was yelling at the tv telling the Hawks to not let him make a play to end the game.

  17. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

lol, when he got that bid i jumped up and was thinking 'right in bob's face Thornton, right in da face!' . should've known better, Thornton did what Thornton does on that.

ya, Id be shocked if they called that marginal stuff in the Cup. Pretty well officiated overall considering it was almost 2 games worth of action.

most of the B's D already have a foot out the door in the O zone even when the Bruins Fs have possession. I like the low cycle w/ a lesser chance of giving the Hawks speedy Fs a chance to chip it past the Bruins D at the blue line for odd man rushes. Plus the B's Fs are big and ogery down low, usually most advantageous by the crease and behind the goal line.

did I just read that Ralph Kruger was fired via Skype? I know he was out of the country but come on Oilers. weak weak showing. maybe they can start the next season of Oil Change w/ the Skype firing.

makes sense, hope you're wrong because it makes sense.

  19. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Good point, they are on their way back about as early as anybody to minimize risk.

I really don't have a problem with it. All parties had alot of travel planned and there's a new gm. I'm not into the skype idea but I don't think it's any worse than a phone call. New gm, terrible year, questionable coaching hire to begin with, etc. Delaying the move would have been foolish. Lowe has created such an effed up culture over there, anything different can't be worse.
