i was thinking the same thing about Carolina. i think the Islanders do it too, but nobody else seems to know this answer. Disco Dan needs to watch some film or disc or whatever the kids are calling it these days. the Pens game looks NOTHING like what we saw during the 3 regular season games. Bitchface has made the right adjustments and Dan just keeps smiling every time a Penguin bumps a Broon off the puck. i don't know why the Pens are NOT utilizing their speed. they seem to be playing into Boston's hands. this could get VERY ugly for Pittsburgh and incredibly wonderful for Boston if Dan doesn't figure this stuff out. bring back the PIGFACE!!!

The Saad part of the trade will eventually be recognized a little bit more.
Hawks also have Dman (Paliotta) from that trade. He's on a bad U. of Vermont team. He's been proving better in some areas than they expected but I don't think anybody has high hopes for him anytime soon. Still only going to be a JR next year. Based on the Toronto trade so far, I'm sure he'll be a top 4.

I'll bet Jared Knight is a quality player in a couple years too.

They'll show the pens hustling, but everytime I'm watching the guys away from the puck they lose a stride in a half before attempting a backcheck. It's disgusting to watch, Semin makes fun of it. The Penguins are so slow to react (let alone anticipate) before coming back, I just find it really difficult to give the Bruins a ton of credit. I'm not taking any away either.

I agree with the Pens "forcing it", looks like the Bluejackets the last few years. Game of "square-peg round-hole". Boston is just doing the same thing everybody expected them to do and the Pens refuse to adjust. It's just amazing watching the Pens skate with their heads up their rear ends. The same player looks different shift to shift to shift. Not all the Bruin defensemen are good skaters or all that bright on the way back in their zone against a rush or coming in and out of the corners (See Ference on Sutter goal), I don't get it at all.

I don't even need to go into my "Bylsma sucks" rant, one only has to watch the games.

i didn't know he was involved there. Saad and Gibson.

hopefully, he had a tough 1st pro season. seems either injury prone or just unlucky to this point.

    that sentence speaks volumes.

they're robotic. you can see what will happen w/ the Bruins D before they even get the puck. weak side D drops behind the net and is always option #1. They more or less force it to him Id guess 90% of the time. Thats why Krug and Bartkowski (Pitts' own) are so valuable, imho. They're the only D willing and capable to start the breakout on their own.

I agree with you guys about Marchand. One of the worst in the league in terms of unnecessary garbage. Howvere, it was great to see him abuse the #1 garbageman Matt Cooke on that back-breaking 4th goal.

do you find this upcoming quote astonishing? "Bylsma is an excellent coach, probably one of the best in the NHL, but..." you won't when you find out it's from Adam Gretz. just another reason to completely abandon seeBS Sports and their hack "writers".

That's a good way it, robotic.

I agree on Krug. The ability to skate and not suck with the puck certainly has a place, especially if the Bruins can keep the Pens from getting a sustained forecheck (and associated Bylsma-ing/overaggressive hitting) going. As long as he's not trapped in corners or behind the net, I think he's going to be very useful, especially as Pit adjusts to play something of a defensive scheme.

If Pit starts hitting more, they're screwed imo. The can't afford to play that game anymore. Boston just has to keep those skates going to and minimize space on the Pit forwards and they'll finish them off in short order, don't let the game start like game one with wide open play.

lol, I actually like Gretz because he has a rational basis for most of his opinions. I'm not saying I like all his opinions, I just appreciate that there is a tangible basis for an argument of his opinions, I find that rare, even with regular writers. When it comes to things Pittsburgh and Detroit, I really disagree with most of his opinions. I swear he might have been a full-blown Pierre-type Penguin fan. I still read probably 2/3rds of his blog entries but if I see a headline with Pit, Chi, or Detroit in it, I don' t bother reading it as I've done for most of the season.

I've thought Bylsma has been a suck for years, but to be fair, I'm in the minority. Most of Lennie considers him one of the top 2 candidates for the team USA job and most of the major writers and networks rank him among the top coaches in the league on a somewhat regular basis. I don't get it, I won't ever get it, but it's an opinion probably shared by the majority.

Back to Gretz, I think he's less sucky than most of the bloggers on the major sites as long as he stays away from certain teams. I wonder how many hits most of their stories even get, can't imagine CBS is doing too hot these days with so many other sites improving so dramatically the last few years.

I love Cooke being made to look like a fool, but it's offset when it's Marchand. It's akin to "Sideshow" Steve showing up Avery for me.

  12. not sure who is a bigger douche Gretz or Cooke, Ill never forget the article Gretz wrote on why fighting should be abolished. I may give the tip of the cap to Adam. CBS at this point isnt far from ESPNBA. they want the fluff without the substance. their writers are very biased and uneducated. the site lacks user friendliness. whoever does the title screens throws whatever 'look at me' pic they can out there alas TMZ. and they care as much about what their site visitor/ customer as Bettman. the only thing worth 1 flying shit on CBS is the fantasy games, and even those have started to suck. the baseball one is a mirror of ESPN's. after this year Im done w any fantasy on there. Im already tied up w about $400 on baseball so Im stuck - that wont happen again

Under a Sutterized system, can the Kings generate enough offense to beat the Blackhawks for once? Seems like they have enough talent to score some goals. I have a feeling that if they open up the game, Chicago will play bombs away on them and destroy them. Is the Major key to the game for the Kings, to get the first goal or two and then just hit like crazy? They cant stay business as usual imo. If the Blackhawks score the first couple...look out. Maybe the key for the Kings winning lies squarely on Quicks shoulders...poor fella. He's carried them before, He'l probably have to do it all by himself, again.

There...tried my hand at writing. *WRITE*

  16. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I like "Sutterized". I like it alot.

I think the Kings can generate offense. They'll be at home and Toffoli seemed to be seeing the ice well last series and game 2 so I'm not going to be surprised if he and Carter get a good number of quality chances and bury one or two.

Richards is out game 3 because of Bolland's questionable hit so they'll be more vulnerable. I think LA could blow people out if they abondoned the Pylon behind them with Regehr and Greene but they won't do that.

LA will be very strong tonight. They've had a day off unlike last game, so I'm not projecting anything from game 2 forward unless I see similarities tonight. Seeing how Quick does will be interesting.
