FA rumors starting to come in now. Bunker bound Timmy Thomas stories should be interesting. Fletcher says he's taking care of Backstrom first.

Schultz asked to be traded from the Washington trainwrecks
Omark won't be playing for Edmonton.
Chris Gibson is buried on LAs goalie depth, he'll reenter the draft
Lots of other good rumors starting to surface.

    Ryder will hit the market.

    Yes

I've heard nothing of TT sightings near the ice.

How much is Rask getting Matty?

I think Chiarelli did the right thing by keeping him hanging most of the year. Rask's team probably overplayed their hand and the goalie market is going to be soft for a little while.

See I think they'll pay more for Tuukka this summer than they would've last summer, even w/ a soft goalie market. Would've like to see a long term deal finished last summer. Hard to quantify how valuable it is dangling the carrot in front of him for this season though. Probably only helps the team immediately having a RFA play on a 1 yr deal. But back to the question, I think he looks for a Jimmy Howard like contract. 5-6 yrs/ $5.5 neighborhood.

Eagles very excited about Hawks 3rd rounder Chris Calnan coming in bob. JY told me that he's got an NHL ready body and he's been a dominant prep player since 8th grade. Its always sunshine and roses w/ him though so time will tell on Calnan.

It seems Walkom is now the worst official EVAR.

At least hockey fans are starting to learn another name or two. If they think Walkom is the worst...oh my. The guy has been pretty good the last couple regular seasons I thought. He's just a playoff choker. Can refs be "chokers"?

I wish I was a fly on the wall for the negotiations, as long as nobody had a fly swatter. I would think Howard's contract minus 5-10% would be appropriate. I never had a read on what they were looking at last summer.

    Who is JY?

I read a couple things about Calnan recently. Hope he's able to develop. I really like the depth in Chicago's system.

Oduya deal working out better as the 2nd and 3rd rounder slide deeper. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a non-physical Euro and the gm that acquired him serve up some crow to the haterizers. Of course, his mistakes will be highlighted next series and his good plays ignored.

We'll find out if Jagr is worth the first over the next week and a half.

ya only speculation around here last summer. some were reporting that Rask was looking for something around $4 per, don't remember anyone really knowing much about the term.

JY is Jerry York. Calnan very religious also, for whatever thats worth.

were people critical of that move? seems like its already paid off big time for the Hawks. I like Oduya a lot.

shouldn't even be in the lineup. That 2nd line of Marchand-Bergy-Seguin was one of the most productive lines in the league. Granted Seguin was not playing well or hard at the very end of the reg season and in the 1st round but he turned that effort around last series while Jagr just slowed that 2nd line down. The one man cycle w/out moving your feet hasn't served Jagr or the Bruins well. Hate that trade. Move Seguin up and put the one-eyed angry Swede on the 3rd line w/ Kelly and Peverley.

Some were extremely critical of the move and the extension. Chicago gave up a 2nd and 3rd for him. He was great to start but since he had his pocket picked a couple times against PHX last year (lead to goals) he was declared a disaster by many a meatball. He's a legitimate 2nd pair type with some obvious strengths and weaknesses. His extension was a bit below market value imo too. I never understood the criticism, but then again, since he doesn't hit, I could have predicted it. I liked the trade and loved the value on the extension.

I don't understand how he's being used. Should strickly be used in prime offensive situations only like the pp and following an icing call. I don't understand why he gets 1 second over 12 minutes a game. Julien doesn't do much in the way to support sustained offensive zone pressure so I don't get why Jagr is on a regular line.

  11. who's the angry one-eyed swede?

and who doesn't love a cyclops? i mean cmon, people!

  12. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

sounds like many typical Bruins fans. maybe the Hawks fans that love the hitting would be interested in a certain St Bigfat? we can start w/ Hossa and work from there.

nail on the head bob, all around including your thoughts on Claude.
another thing about Jagr is that he takes these 2 min shifts regularly. men's leaguers don't even do that. just pouring on at this point, hoping Jagr can do something offensively. square peg round hole situation.

As a red blooded Maericano i personally love a cyclops. unfortunately Claude does not agree. Carl Soderberg had a bad eye injury back in '07. Speculation that he was going to quit hockey and enroll in medical school.

When more of them acknowledge hockey outside of Chicago and maybe Van, Det, and STL, ST. Bigfat will be the best hockey player ever.

    I know this game.

Now that Boston Brewed beers aren't being sold in some Pit area bars, I'm naming Sam Adams as my official postseason beer.

It already was, but I never used the word "official".

What type of effed up sports fan bans any type of beer for a sporting event?

I'll blame Mario and Sid. After they win the series by Wednesday, will they lift the ban?

no, they would just dump that s**t into the Allegheny River... but of course that will NOT even be an issue.
hey, did i see an earlier comment about snorting something?

Hawks just signed Alex Broadhurst to an EL contract. I wonder if Kevin Hayes signs. He pooped in a hallway and got injured this year (irrelevant details in between) but I'm not going to be shocked if he signs a deal. Might be 2 Hayes and 2 Broadhursts in Rockford. Not exactly alien twins but still a fun storyline for the affiliate. Broadhursts are from Chicago area.

I hate that there isn't a game tonight.
