The Ditch part deux

Discussion in 'NHL General Discussion Board' started by cutter9394, Apr 21, 2013.

  1. Jimmy Howard has played in four Game 7's (all of which were on the road) and was great in all of them. He has a combined .939 SV% in those games.

95 Finals brought me joy after so much pain.

    Happy Birthday Kerry Fraser...You penis.

Hair doesn't look much different than 20 years ago. 61st birthday, I've had enough of his TSN glog, he can go away now.

  3. From what I remember there was an air of arrogance coming from that newspaper after the Wings beat the Hawks in the WCF's. I don't think it ever crossed their minds that the Wings could possibly lose that series let alone get dominated.

didn't see him this season but his stats back you up.

obviously you watch Crawford far more than I do but it seems like he often lets in a flutterer or a short side shot thru the body kind of a shot. Maybe Crawford saves up the bad goals against for games I watch.

lol, he's given up his share. They'll talk about Crawford's softies but won't mention how Quick almost eliminated his own team round one. He was lucky STL had stone hands all series. It will be Quick for Conn Smyth (out of the WC teams) even though he's had more mistakes (at worse times), but he didn't let in the "softie".

Obviously I'm not a fan of all the recognition some goalies get depending on the system they play in.

All calls AGAINST the Flyers are good calls by definition.

  8. It's interesting you should say that, Alfred.

Remember last season when the Flyers and Lighting played that awful "stalemate" game? The one where Boucher had his players run a 1-3-1 trap between the blue lines while the Flyers just stayed in their own end? Kerry Fraser said he would have given the Flyers a delay of game penalty because they weren't moving the puck forward -- which is a load of *expletives* if you ask me.

Good call on the "stalemate" game Mo.

I would take luongo price and crawford. Brodeur's too old, and I hope they don't choose him just to honour him. Mike Smith had a good year two years ago, but if you go with the current trend, crawford's doing alot better. Luongo and Price will be starting any games will have to do with how they do in the regular season leading up to the games.

Regehr signed a 2yrs x 3 deal to stay with the Kings. This is very un-Lombardi like. Willie Mitchell's career must be near over.

Solid contract. Lombardi doesn't want his RFA dmen thinking they have more leverage than they do.

  12. Price, Luongo and Ward for me. MAF shouldn't sniff a spot on that team any time soon.

If Crawford ends up having a great series vs the kings and goes to the finals, how could you take ward ahead of him?

Having Fleury as your Goalie, comes with a season supply of valium and Cymbalta. ... or it should.

Odds of Tambellini drafting his kid in the 2d round 2:1

The Red Wings, Blackhawks game 7 was the highest-rated NHL game ever on the NBC Sports Network. It peaked at a 2.83 rating wich means 4.613 million fans were tuned in for that game.

The 4 remaining teams; Blackhawks, Kings, Bruins and Penguins are the last 4 Stanley Cup Champs...I didnt realise that until today. I am slow, sometimes.

Seems strange with no hockey last night or tonight...double-header Saturday, thats cool.

strange timing here but a good deal all around. anyone have an opinion on Regehr's play lately? a non factor in Buffalo.

  19. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I think the timing is to minimize leverage of the RFAs. Lombardi letting Voynov and Muzzin know they're not solidified in the top four, and that they aren't getting more than a bridge contract. It may have been as simple as "he's a Sutter guy".

As far as his play goes, I think he's perfect for Sutter, he can't do anything with the puck other than the occasional shot, he's excellent in wiping a player out of a play (extremely effective in that system), and he can stay at home as good as any 2nd pair type to allow the better offensive dmen to pinch in and get the offense going.

I really don't want to see LA win.

  20. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

is that more of a pro-Chicago or anti-LA/Sutter statement?

Tim Thomas's contract was not tolled by the NYI meaning he'll be a FA this offseason. Any takers? Would think he would come cheaply. A local reporter said that he heard TT hasn't worked out at all and has blown up like a tick. TT may be joining us in the ditch soon.
