henry fonda played a mean "Frank" in Once Upon Time in the West, but of course, Bronson kills him.

  4. Im a HUUUUUUUGE Clint Eastwood spaghetti western fan. have all of them Lee Von Cleef was an awesome actor. cant touch Tuco either. well done lulz. all those movies were made on a shoestring budget in Sicily and almost all the actors werent mexican they were sicilian. my mom moved here from Massena at a young age and theres not too many cool things everyone should know about Sicily but thats tops on my list

i think Easy Rider was OVER-RATED as a story and "cinematic" achievement. BUT the REAL VALUE that picture has is the CULTURAL IMPACT and the message of "there is a counter-culture happening and we are here NOW." the significance was the opening of the eyes of America, especially in places where things were a little slower (not LA, NY or any other large city). picking the south as the location was important and drove the point home. Hopper knew what he was doing and the vision was pure and well-thought out (even filming the actual LSD trips). the overall execution is where you see the holes: the dialogue had moments, the story had moments, but as an entirety, the film went cold here and there. like i said, Easy Rider has CULTURAL IMPACT and that was its greatest achievement.

  6. never seen Easy Rider its now on my list along with this Blue Velvet. when did Blue Velvet come out, how have I never even heard about it

The production of easy rider was very cheap, you're right, it was just the feel to the movie, and what it said about the times. The scene in the restaraunt was real, those were real rednecks, and they really hated hippies.

  8. I have heard of Easy Rider but Im not a motorcycle guy so never really had much interest. one movie Frank bombed on(just not at the box office) was Speed, that movie sucked. I hate Keenu Reeves unless its Bill n Ted and Sandra Bullock is nauseating

    Blue Velvet (1986)

... and it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in common with "Speed".

I would say easy rider is just about a bunch of hippies from california that set out to new orleans for mardi gras, and they just have a story along the way, they take the audience with them.

It's not really about motorbikes. The spaghetti westerns were filmed in spain and italy, mostly central to southern, all european actors except for a couple like eastwood and van cleef.

Sicily is real rocky, good background for a western.

nowadays, Richard "Cheech" Marin is considered a "professional Mexican" because he is actually of Middle-Eastern descent but frequently plays a hispanic character. is it possible that Eli Wallach (Tuco) was the first "professional Mexican"?

the Leone westerns were shot in Sicily, La Mancha (Spain) and other parts of central Italy. the cinematography is exquisite in those pictures, which helps make Leone one of the GAWDZ i referred to earlier.

Eli Wallach is hillarious, funny that he's jewish.

  15. leone is effing brilliant. the absolute master of the close up. the opening of once upon a time in the west is as good as it gets.

agreed about easy rider, as a movie, it's way overrated. it was a social statement that was well timed. but ya, it's not a biker film.

  16. Wallach is jewish? Really. Wallach sounds like soneone from the fjords or even english

  17. No shitting( had to do it) cheech is middle eastern! My whole world has been turned upside down
