i'm gonna have to chip away at this topic, but here are my top 2:
    1. Frank Booth (Blue Velvet)
    2. Ichi (Ichi the Killer)

    ... to be continued...

  2. oh, i'm being dense today. i have TWO favorite scary guys named frank - mr. booth from blue velvet, and just frank (henry fonda) in Once Upon a Time in the West.

which leads me to another favorite scary guy in a different sergio leone film - another nutjob - indio from For a Few Dollars More.

fans in NY calling for Messier behind the bench. that would be great for the other 29 teams.

  4. maybe, but he can't possibly do worse than gretzky did - or can he?

  5. man this Blue Velvet movie I have to see, you guys are throwing this in with some of the best evar IMO. Lulz what the hell is Hal9000, sounds like a computer .that better not be from Short Circuit

  6. HAL 9000 is the bad "guy" from 2001.

Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

    I'm sorry, Dave. I can't do that.

at least the Gretzky debacle was in Phoenix where no one saw it. NY w/ Messier, Id love to see that.

The Shining is one of my all-time favorites. the movie is flawless except for maybe 2 or 3 seconds... when Wendy is running through the hotel she meets a old man (ghost) in a tux with blood dripping down his head and he says the corniest line in the whole movie... "nice party, isn't it?" WHY?!?! was that really necessary? i think Kubrick got one of his friends some action on that one, it's the only somewhat reasonable explanation i can think of. Kubrick was known to be VERY difficult and he like to put his actors in place, especially the stars. the scene where Jack flips out on Wendy, and says, "i've let you f**k up my life so far, but i'm not gonna let..." and storms off to the bar. as Jack leaves the room he LOOKS RIGHT INTO THE CAMERA scowling. Kubrick thought it was funny and left it in. the reason Jack was so mad (at Kurbrick) is the director made the actors do that scene close to 40 straight times, even though Jack though they hit it right on take 6 or 7.

  9. in the "wouldn't wanna eff with" category, i'll start with 2 characters, one man. arthur bishop/paul kersey

  10. ya, i've heard that about kubrick too, frank. seems like even hitchcock was easier to work with. apparently, the current standard bearer for despised (to work with) directors is ridley scott.

disclaimer: kubrick is still one of the few directors who put out multiple films that rank among my favorites - dr. strangelove, 2001, the shining, clockwork orange - and scott is the same way with blade runner and alien. did he do aliens too?

  11. ugh, aliens was cameron. i have to begrudgingly put him in the same group, even tho i currently avoid his films like the plague.

Don't get on the bad side of Paul.

  13. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I dig and hate Cameron at the same time.

Cameron... i'm ambivalent. Kubrick is one of the GAWDZ.

  15. lulz you are defintely a movie and music guy. there are people and bands you mention Ive never even heard of. who the hell is Paul Kelsey? thought that was the guy from the 80's show my two dads

Halo your nitpicking that movie is flawless in regards to that genre. the only part that could have been removed IMO was the nasty crazy lady that gets out of tub. weird and bizarre yes, disgusting and repulsive even more so. no one wants to see that.that movie is top notch

  16. again what the hell is Ichi Halo? Im not a big movie guy so Im sure the only one who doesnt know this is me

it better be a good arse movie Halo to beat Anton and Jack

  17. the original Aliens was AWESOME! nice follow up to the Terminator - another Awesome movie

  18. paul kersey - death wish (bronson)

it is a brutally violent Japanese film by Takashi Miike. Ichi is basically an assassin or a henchman. when they released the special edition DVD, it came with a bag of fake plasma. it's a solid movie... a real international classic.
