Otherwise, thanks to all for carrying on with the carry on. I’m now in Alcobaça, Portugal. Although my wife is still in Ireland (County Mayo and not the North of Ireland).

In an affirmation that it was the right decision to move here, we were in Ireland to visit her sister. She battled cancer a couple of years ago, and it has returned with a vengeance.

 

Ive been out of touch for awhile. Are living in Ireland or Portugal?

 

I retired on September 30 and we moved from Denver to Alcobaça, Portugal. I’ve been silent for a couple of weeks attending to the move.

My wife is from Ireland. She’d answer that she’s from Dublin since she spent a lot of time there, however, her family is from County Mayo, on the west coast.

We decided on Portugal because it has drastically better weather than Ireland (300+ days/year of sunshine vs. Eire’s 300 rainy days), but it is in the same time zone. It takes 2 1/2 hours to fly to Dublin instead of ~22 from Denver.

That's awesome Dan, good for you. Ive been doing a lot of traveling lately and this year jumped in head first to travel hacking, Portugal is an up and coming tourist destination. I know TAP airlines has good deals to Europe with layovers in Portugal. I may have to look you up if that happens.
