They use the "19" and "Hurricanes" as a stand in for player names and numbers.

haha. hope the announcers known all the players names and #'s. haha.

I mean, they use a stand-in for the picture. The real jerseys will have all the players' names and numbers. Every team does this for jersey photos.

They used Whalers jerseys last season.

Carolina has to capitalize on their current popularity and success - adding another new jersey brings another revenue stream, as people get the new ones.

I really do not like Carolina's uniforms. I think they're rather boring. But, I like the simplicity of the slanted Canes. I see dline has already addressed Cat's question about the name on the back.
The Sabres did the same thing when they rolled out their (exquisite) 50th Anniversary sweater. BTW, I just ordered mine - it's wait-listed until mid-Sept. I decided to go with #26, Rasmus Dahlin. I thought it would be wise to have the name of the best defenseman ever born on the back of the best looking hockey sweater ever produced. (There could be a slight bit of exaggeration; but without question it will endear me to locals when I see the Sabres in Stockholm in November.)

Extra extra, read all about, Kuznetsov is a coke head. Banned from the Russian national team for 4 years.

D-man's gotta keep his stick down. No excuse for that. Sloppy play. Never gonna make the big team, playing like that.

Seriously, though, this is great. Good for those kids.

My brother and his buddy bumped into Ron MacLean on the train to Toronto. My bro was going to the Toronto FC game and Ron and his wife were going to a Blue Rodeo concert. He was wearing weird shades to go incognito and asked to sit next to my bro. Someone nearby asked him if he was Ron MacLean and he fessed up a few minutes later. Apparently they got on pretty swell since my bro's buddy was rocking older music and Ron loved it so they were the cabin's DJ pumping the volume the whole ride.

Maclean is smart taking the train, the qew is a mess at that time, plus you have to find parking. There's a train station right in front of BMO field and the budweiser stage is a 10 to 15 minute walk.

Sept is almost here, so that means a month left till the new NHL season starts. I can't wait. Now by November, I will be pissing and moaning about the Flyers, their new coach and how bad Kevin Hayes is, but I really love hockey. I love a lot of sports, but I just love hockey in the fall. Baseball is just too damn long of a season. im bored. football is around the corner, so that makes me happy too, but not like hockey season.

I just moved to Orlando with the girlfriend. Had to give up my season seats for the year, because no sense paying for them when I'm 4 hours away (and I don't feel like re-selling them 41 times this year). We started discussing the move to Orlando just a few weeks before the team signed Quenneville. As you can imagine, this being the season I'm not in the stands is awfully fucking painful for me. Of all seasons, this is the one you wanna be there for. So... fuck. Watching games from afar is gonna hurt...

You do, at least, have the Solar Bears! That, and sunshine in the winter. You'll get through the hockey season somehow.

Thanks Dan. hockey just has a different feel than baseball and basketball. now i know there are thousands of football crazed fans all over the world, but hockey has thousands of nutty fans too. growing up i was a Flyers fan before i was an eagles fan. i played street hockey at 5 yrs old. i didn't play rec football or even against the neighborhood kids until i was older. hockey has always been close to me. i guess my 3 older brothers being die hard Flyers fans got me started early. haha. i was 13 when i saw my first live Flyers game at the Spectrum. It was a preseason game but I didn't care vs the Boston Bruins. There were a lot of fights then. I asked my brother, who brought me to the game, if that was normal? he said "it's the Boston Bruins, we hate them and they hate us!" haha. This was 1984. I didn't attend my first Eagles game until 1988.

Yeah, a buddy bought us all Solar Bears shirts. Gonna try and get us all to the Panthers season opener, and if the kiddo likes it, we'll definitely get to a few Solar Bears games. There are a lot more opportunities to skate up here than in South Florida.

Funny enough, we moved from West Palm - where the current forecasts have it currently bearing down on. Of course, it was aimed directly at us just 24-48 hours ago, and it's still supposed to come straight up the state at us. Honestly, it could go anywhere right now. 3 day forecast at 5 / 11 tonight will be important. If it hasn't moved considerably north in the 24 hours, it'll likely be impacting my family and friends in Palm Beach before it comes to us...

Scary stuff, man. We won't know anything for sure until just a few hours before it's on us, which is the worst part.
