Do you think Matthews is so weak minded that his coach cant give an honest answer? Babcock isn't supposed to give any interviews anymore for fear of hurting Matthews ego? Even if Matthews was the best in the game at age 20 I don't think he says it. Hopefully for your sake or his, he is isn't that much of a diva.

It's all timing, if your son brought home the best report card in his class, would you start praising his classmates?

Two things to consider, they just patched things up. Babs wasn't giving him his normal icetime in the playoffs last year.

He has an upcoming deal and it's in the teams best interest to have him sign for as low as they possibly can

It's also a battle of the egos, highest paid coach in the league vs best player in the league up until that point.

the more losses that pile up, the more heads will roll soon. hakstol, hextall, the other coaches or players will be gone in one way or another.

My son is 8. Mathews is a paid professional. Coaches are paid to coach. If Matthews gets a bug up his ass because he's not being coddled, that's on him not the coach. Babcock has earned the benefit of the doubt. Matthews has not.

I'm not saying that as a fact that Matthews is bothered by this. If I was in babs shoes, I would be highlighting his potential, or at least adding him in the conversation.

Right now, crosby and mcDavid are the best players in the league. I could see matthews getting there, he's a great asset to our team and has gotten off to a great start.

Believe it or not, at 20, these players need encouragement from their coach to take that next step. It seems babs is working against him, even going back to last years playoffs. It makes me wonder if ownership and management isn't putting him up to this. If Matthews were to get 120 pts this season. His asking price could be $13-14M, that would deal a blow to their salary structure for years to come.

Matthews is the real deal and that's obvious. He's going to get paid no matter what. Its all going to come down to, does he want to get paid $$$$ or does he want to win. At the time of Sid's signing he took a team friendly deal. He could have got more but it was more important to him to win.

Matthews wants to get paid, then he'll think about winning. Times are changing, parents at all the games getting involved. Dads are ex-players and want best for their kid.
Matthews is american, nylander is a swede, they have no ties to the city like JT, marner or kadri( who is from London).

They want to get paid market price, period.

McD is holding his end of the bargain, it's the other slackers and PC failing him.

Confidence in you line-mates is so important. Toews is so much better with DiBrincat than Kane.

Coaching is pretty much about setting lines. Players play.

Good game, McD played over 28 mins.

Settling in to watch Toronto and Winnipeg... Randy Bachman singing 'takin care of bussiness', he has aged well and still plays a mean guitar...
