The wings had a good draft, team going in the right direction. If they keep it up, they should be strong moving forward after zetts is gone.

I think after Buffalo, Detroit did really well. Zadina, Rasmussen and the likes are the future.

The wings do well with later picks, it's a good thing for them to have a full draft. They shouldn't be trading away picks, just keep having full drafts. They should consider maybe seeing what they could get for zetterberg, I think it's time to cut ties.

    ***BREAKING***

Pacioretty traded to Golden Knights by Canadiens
Montreal acquires Tatar, Suzuki, second-round pick in 2019 from Vegas for captain...

Max Pacioretty was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights by the Montreal Canadiens for forward Tomas Tatar, forward prospect Nick Suzuki and a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft on Sunday.

The 29-year-old forward had 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) in 64 games with Montreal last season, missing the final 18 games of the regular season with a knee injury.

Pacioretty, named the Canadiens' 29th captain on Sept. 18, 2015, has one season remaining on a six-year contract and can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2019.

He said on Sept. 6 he would not negotiate a long-term contract with the Canadiens once the regular season had started on Oct. 3 and was unsure if he would be with Montreal when training camp opened this week.

"I'm really taking it one day at a time," Pacioretty said at Jonathan Drouin's golf tournament. "It looks like right now I will be, I'm assuming. Camp is right around the corner. Like I said, I just want to focus on putting on my skates and playing hockey."

His agent, Allan Walsh, said Aug. 28 that Pacioretty has no interest in leaving Montreal.

"To be clear, while there have been many discussions over the last two months, there have been no negotiations on a new contract," Walsh posted on his Twitter account. "Montreal has not made any offers to this date. Max has stated repeatedly that he loves Montreal and wants to sign a new contract with the Canadiens."

10000000000% agree. im sure the other gms are kicking themselves for not being in the conversation for a trade to montreal.

Good point, 30+ goals they didn't have last year. JVRs a horrible defensive player, the anti-simmonds, he better score.

It is a rental, given that he's got the one year left. That said, the only reason you trade the guy is to try and get something valuable back for him. ... They didn't.

What am I missing, Montreal? After all this time, that's all you could get?

Vegas is licking their chops for the coming season, already.

yeah you can't let a team like vegas get him for so cheaply. i can't believe that's all there was in the deal. could another team offer more ? i think so.

I didn't mean to "like" the comment. I think Montreal did just fine. I still shake my head at the Subban trade but this one was good.

What's the odds on getting you to join Matty's fantasy hockey league?

In retrospect, Tatar will likely still be valuable when the team gets back to a competitive point. However, I don't think that they got as much out of this as they could have, especially given their need for rebuilding assets. Tatar is in the prime of his career now (theoretically, based on age), and they aren't positioned well to put it to use.

Florida's prospects are in camp for a few days prior to full team training camp. I don't think Tippett is NHL material this year, given that he still had to work on his defensive game and the Panthers loaded the f*** up on 3rd/4th liners this offseason. But he has definitely taken his workout regimen seriously, putting on size, and holy balls does that dude have a shot. If he can become a more well-rounded player, and develop that killer instinct shot in a tighter space (he's still used to working with more room than he'll get regularly in the NHL), he's going to be tough to deal with. Guy can shoot it from anywhere, real fast.

    Within a couple weeks.

I have spots reserved for you and a couple others that are waiting to confirm and I have some people interested from some advertising I ran elsewhere.

Ideally, I'd like to get you, Bob, Dan, dline, skinny and Cat involved before I get some others (if I forgot a name it's because I have not had any coffee yet this morning).
