Forsberg had slipped a bit in the draft to Washington at #11 and they then dealt him at the deadline for Martin Erat and junk. in 66 games as a Cap Erat had 27 points.

 

Id say Forsberg would be the best all around F on Washington right now.

 

I appreciate the reminder, Matty. Giving away a talent like Forsberg... How do you think that's a contributing factor in them potentially winning a cup?

 

Vegas GM McPhee was the Caps GM at the time. He let go of one of the best prospects for a bandaid that didnt end up helping them at all. had he not flipped Forberg he would make the current Caps all that much better.

Yes, I see what youre saying. Pens could have given them Tyler Kennedy for Forsberg. Actually I wouldn't want to change history, it has worked pretty well without Peter.

 

Credit McPhee for putting together a roster of recognized talent. To his credit and any other gm that trades potential i.e jfj trading rask for raycroft, in hindsight.
