I think the Flyers beat Pittsburgh at home for 10 or 11 years straight in the 80's! Some crazy stat they keep.

Hell, my home in Colorado appreciated more in value over the past 12 months that what it would cost me to buy a place in my hometown.

Oh, it was their 5th season to the SCF.

Do you know what really cracked me up? The people crying about a conspiracy that Pittsburgh was the only team scheduled to end the season early and get an extra day's rest. There are 31 teams in the league so they can't all play on the same day. It's only fair they gave it to the defending champ. Well they could have given it to the worst team who likely had no chance to make the playoffs lol.

Grubauer to start Game 1 for Capitals against Blue Jackets
Veteran goaltender Holtby will be backup to begin first round...

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Philipp Grubauer will be the starting goaltender for the Washington Capitals when they open the Eastern Conference First Round against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday (7:30 p.m. ET; USA, SN360, TVAS, FS-O, NBCSWA).

Coach Barry Trotz informed Grubauer and Braden Holtby of the decision on Monday; it was announced after the Capitals practiced at Kettler Capitals Iceplex on Tuesday.

Trotz said Grubauer is his pick for Game 1, and he'll evaluate it game by game after that.

"I just think that [Grubauer] deserves the opportunity," Trotz said. "I think the body of work, especially this year, presented itself. Trust me, it wasn't an easy decision. I put a lot of factors in. Braden has been the guy for a long time, and his body of work, especially since I've been here. I talked to him yesterday and said that weighed heavily on me because he's done so much for us.

"But I thought taking everything into consideration and all that, I think [Grubauer] deserves to start. We're very fortunate we've got two really good goaltenders right now, and I think that puts us in a real good spot."

Grubauer has backed up Holtby the past three seasons, but started 10 of the Capitals' final 16 games after Holtby struggled. Over that stretch, Grubauer went 7-3-0 with a 2.31 goals-against average, .925 save percentage and two shutouts.

So there ya go... Trotz wheels are turning. I think the Capitols must feel the pressure to win now and make it out of the East.

that's silly. The Flyers were off Sunday too and they play Pittsburgh tonight. An extra day off isn't the reason if the Flyers pull off an upset.

Good luck tonight to all playoff teams! The best and my favorite time of the year starts tonight. Tonight is when my TV shows get DVR'd and I watch them later. Tonight is playoff hockey all night long !

Bruins sitting Donato, this is where a slow and unproductive Nash could cost you.

I'll be having a drink with a date tonight, watching her Wild in the playoffs. Of course, if the Panthers were in the playoffs, there wouldn't be a date at all - I don't have time for anything else. But it's her team, it's her call. I'll drink and watch playoff hockey.

Oh I think this is a no brainer. Donato could, probably would, be a huge liability in playoff hockey. Nash with Krejci is just what the doctor ordered. That and Riley Nash coming back and getting the bottom 6 back in their correct spots.

The Flyers have yet to find the arena after leaving the Hotel.

The Peg and Wild game is great. Refs put the whistles away.
