The Ditch part deux

    Dear Canucks fans,

Earlier this year we wrote a letter to the city, and to everyone who has supported us for the past 18 years. Many people were asking what the future holds. We said we'd take it one year at a time. We said when the time was right, we'd talk with our families and sit down with management to discuss it.

We started the year with the mindset that a decision would be made in the postseason. But it became clear, after discussions with our families throughout the year, that this will be our last season. This feels right for all of us.

Being part of the Canucks family for 18 seasons has been the best period of our lives. But it's time to focus on our families and life after hockey. It's time to help with homework every night. It's time to be at every birthday party and to stand in the cold at every hockey rink, soccer game and riding lesson on weekends. It's time to be at home for dinner every night.

We're saying it now because we want to share these final three games with you. We also want to share these games with our families, friends, teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and everyone at the Canucks who have supported us. You've all been with us every step of the way, and we want to thank you.

It's time to let the next generation of young players lead the Canucks. Travis is building a strong culture and emphasizes a style of play we know will be successful. The team is in great hands, with people who care about its success and it's headed in the right direction. We know there is a bright future for the Canucks.

As we've said before, Vancouver has become home. This is our family's home. We plan to be part of this community long after we retire. Vancouver has given us so much and we've tried to give everything we have in return. That won't change.

In the meantime, we still have some games to play, and we still have some work to do.

    Henrik and Daniel

I mean, that's as classy a way as you can do it, without deciding prior to the year starting / earlier in the year. I get those sentiments. Go enjoy the last of the bros, Vancouver fans. Catch that farewell tour.

Ya you gotta respect the way the Sedins are going out. No season long tour, not looking for accolades, just a late season letter to the fans. Unassuming just like them. Consistent among Swedes.

An amazing era in Vancouver and the NHL. Enjoyed watching them play the game.

I think it was the perfect time to go, the team can now move on.

Was there another riot to celebrate their departure? The Twins were such a part of the city of Vancouver, the fans would have no other option but to destroy a part of it.

Alright, this is gonna be fun, let’s see what Mittlestadt and Nylander can do.

I was gonna post this: Crazy results today. It was a pivotal day and it only leaves more questions when we thought we'd see some answers. April 5th is the next big day.

But Winnipeg goes to OT after blowing it multiple times vs Montreal and Nashville gets into OT with 2 late goals vs Florida. Not good for Florida or Winnipeg.

Oh snap. Nashville goal with 0.7 seconds left called back on no goal. Panthers win. And Winnipeg wins in OT.
    Nothing has changed.

There is no interference here. Only contact was by Luongo on the attacker who was OUTSIDE the crease. The only consolation is that that play should have been called dead. No way play should have continued by the puck being poked free from under the goalie when it's covered.

That's a bright future if they end up with Dhalin.

    Wow, that's sad.

Catfish will be pissed when he learns of this.

Yeah, the flyers should be ok unless they lose every game.

Well "every game" is only 2. They are both at home though. The 5th should clear some things up. If Florida wins I wouldn't even rule out Columbus missing out. That win today was clutch.

Two easy opponents, carolina and nyr.

Sorry, Joe, but that interpretation isn't what happened. The puck was under Lu, the defender turned him with his stick, the puck came loose without anyone tocuhing it - as a result of Lu's rotation.

I might say the play should've been blown dead, but admittedly, it happened very quickly. I've seen refs blow that whistle, I've seen refs let it go, and they've both been right.

If Florida wins out, and the Flyers even lose one, Florida is in. They own the tie breaker with more regulations wins, as far as I know. With two games against Boston, I'm not hopeful, but the possibility still exists.
