The Ditch part deux

holy crap are people salty about the possibility of Seattle getting a team. people coming from everywhere bashing the idea and how it will ruin Junior there as they will see the NHL team over the Junior team etc. And then there's people saying Quebec should have a team first etc. Well they already had one. With the 600 million arena renovations coming in, it looks like Seattle is getting a team.

 

Quebec lost their team due to a broken revenue sharing system. The same thing happened to the Jets. Small markets in Canada couldn't afford their teams due to the NHL running on the US dollar, while small market US teams were doing okay. Winnipeg had to move for the same reason. Now there are plans in place to help those teams and Winnipeg got their team back and proven to thrive. Why can't Quebec? Well the owners always wanted Vegas and Seattle. They fed Quebec some BS when Vegas got in saying they would only take 1 team because they had a list that said Seattle first, then Vegas and then Quebec after a decent drop off. The league wanted those 2 cities and pretty much took Quebec for a ride. Now the question is if they will ever be able to move a team there.

I think Quebec has a good chance to take one of the existing Canadian franchises, in particular Calgary or Ottawa, it could be soon.

 

Trojan Horse.

 

Yes, the trojan horse has seen the vet one too many times. A new arena in a more central location might be too many years away for this team to survive. A lack of corporate support will be its undoing, too many federal government buildings and not open for gifting season tickets by law.

Stuck at a bar watching NYR v NJ, just a round the corner from MSG. Blueskirts score nobody cheered. Asked bartender to change to NHL network for Penz/Leafs. Bartender: “no”. REALLY?!?!

 

2-0 leafs, he's the only rags fan in the place.

 

Bartender just changed the channel... to MSG2, NYI v br00nz. No tip for that guy.
