The Ditch part deux

Alan Eagleson was a crook, the nhl oldtimers were getting robbed for the longest time. I'm not sure how the CBA worked in hockey as far as counting games in the minors going toward your pension.
I'm sure baseball's a little different when playing for the affiliate, you'll get a pension at the end of your career.

 

yeah skinny, he gets 2. one from the affiliate and one from MLB. Sadly at 48 years of age, he's battling schizophrenia and is a very sick man. In his early 20's he was the life of the party and a great guy to be around. Now he doesn't know where he is or just doesn't remember who people are etc. SAD.

 

Money is nothing if you don't have your health.

 

^^and he's the second teammate from the same UVA College team 1986-1990 to have schizophrenia! Now that's weird.

 

Schizophrenia is common, everyone knows someone that's been affected, sad way to live your life.

 

at 48 yrs of age? doesn't that seems a little young? and he's the first person i know of that has it. and considering him as a 20 yr old and then pitching in front of mlb stadiums, it's sad to see him like he is now.

I knew one guy that got it when he was 18, another at 22, another at 26, it happens overnight and your life is never the same. You have to take medication for the rest of your life to keep the chemical imbalance in place. You hear voices, you have hallucinations, you have delusions that you're someone important or you get paranoid where you think that government agencies are after you.

I knew one guy that ended up taking his life because he couldn't handle it, nobody wanted to be his friend, no girl wanted to have anything to do with him, he had problems holding down a job, he was only 27.

 

that's sad all around skinny.

 

I knew another guy, his brother used to take care of him, he only had that one sibling. He even used to bring him out on dates as a third wheel. This guy couldn't work, was a chain smoker, drank 20 coffees a day and would constantly wash his hands.

Within five years, his mom died of brain cancer and his brother of pancreatic. Now it's just him and his dad, I see him walking sometimes while I'm driving, real sad story.

 

that's sad and scary he can't get help to look after him etc.

 

He's been taking his medication now since he was 17, not much else his dad could do, he's a senior now and probably has his own issues.

 

Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China, in advance of an upcoming preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings. I don't like hockey in China! Its just an NHL gimmick.

 

My brothers been to Shanghai, he said it's an incredible city, a population of 23 million people. If hockey takes off in China, then so be it, there's a yuge market there for nhl merchandise.

 

They are really blowing the whistle on slashing so far this preseason, but I bet they still put the whistles away during the playoffs.

Re-examining the photo... is that mist or smog in the arena? I've seen pix of the brownish-yellow air in China.
