a great deserving HOF Class! I thought 3 of them should've been in a long time ago. Nice to finally see Dave Andreychuk get his call to the Hall. He's been waiting a long time. Loved seeing him and LaFontaine play at the old Aud!

People were chiming in saying Recchi played a long time to get those high stats and deserved it. That's crazy! He certainly did!

I thought Teemu got in the HOF in 2016, so I was surprised he wasn't.

Sad to see Kariya's career end early, but nice to see him in the Hall.

Connor McDavid's next contract deal and proposed cap hit is over $13 million ! Wow. Oilers won't be able to afford everyone is this is true...?

 

McJesus' contract negotiations started at $14MM. Who knows how much further down they'll go before the contract is settled. I expect it will break the NHL record set by Toews and Kane in Chicago. McDavid is better than that pair. He's the best player in the NHL and deserves to get paid accordingly. But this is just a negotiating stance for now.

 

^^ but at what cost versus affording him and the rest of the Oilers ? I agree with everything you said Dan. He's worth every penny, but can the Oilers afford him and some of their higher price talent at the same time?

The Blackhawks make changes to their roster yearly as they have 2 $10 + million dollar players under contract. Someone may have to go...?

Speaking for the Flyers...I had high hopes this was going to be a big FA summer for the Flyers. See link below to how much money they have and all the NHL teams. Now, I don't think they do much for their offense. I keep hearing Granier for their goalie.

Sid gave a generous hometown discount when he signed his contract. If the Oilers are to be long term successful McD will be smart to do the same.

I really hope McJesus gets 20 Mil. I would send a contract to Draisaitl for 8 Mil for 7. That would be hard for the Oilers. Number crunching is hurting Chicago.

 

but Chicago already has 3 Cups, so im sure they're happy! Teams would kill to be LA with 2 Cups, Pitt with 3, Boston with 1 and the Blackhawks with 3 !

The Oilers are trying to win their first with McDavid. To win and pay him accordingly, they gotta crunch some numbers or be cheap with some players. The Hawks do it every time they win a Cup!

All I want is 1 Cup in my lifetime for the Flyers and I would die happy ! Just 1! Like the 08 Phillies-if they never won again, I wouldn't care bc they won the WS Title and I had a front row view of the parade route as I lived blocks from Broad Street!

yeah to me the Oilers tanked for years. much like the Sixers. unfortunately the Sixers never got the Lebron type the Oilers did with McDavid. I hope they do give him $14 mil bc others are getting a pay cut.
