The Ditch part deux

The league and Bettman came under scrutiny this week. Many in the media questioning the NHL's 2017 marketing, some calling it non-existent, or at a 1993 level.
The big complaint was how the league doesn't market their superstars, or they aren't doing enough to make themselves available, especially during the SC finals.

There were comparisons done with other leagues, the NFL for example is a 24/7 marketing machine during the super bowl. They aren't doing enough to get to the kids, the next generation.

A prime example was a playful tweet by Auston Matthews having fun with a picture of Marner looking like a little kid. The next day, the tweet was removed, the question is, why? These are the type of things that appeal to the youngsters, the next generation of fans.

If the league doesn't wake up and give the players more of personal appeal with the young fans, they'll eventually lose out. The teenagers are starting to get into the EPL, along with the competion that already exists with the NBA and the NFL.

NHL needs a younger Commis that understands how to run a league.

BTW I hate Gary Bettman.

just read an interesting article on Gil Stein. he was the interim president of the NHL and is best known for essentially changing the voting process to get in to the HOF by committee, enabling him to get in without any real merit.

Gents it's been a whirlwind of fun these past 4 years. many laughs, jokes and stories. i got a ton of stats and information from you guys and some poking and prodding. some on good fun and some not. when i talk about this site and the threads, non-users have no idea what this stuff is. threads, posts, forums? all Greek to them. it's kind of our own little cult. haha.

Cat I sent you a PM on reply to yours. From a 3rd party in most of these convos I can say that people are pissing each other off without even knowing and it escalated. I think I took care of it the other day for the most part in private with others but I didn't with you because I was hoping it would go away without you knowing there was any intervention. Unfortunately it must have stewed for a bit until now. Take some time off of you wish but the Cup Finals will suck without you. Don't worry since there are no true Nashville fans that frequent the hockey boards you don't have to worry about Catfish thrown on the ice.
