I think you're gonna like the cupboard Hexy has stocked. It's weak in scoring wingers, but those are the easiest pieces to get via free agency. The defense is loaded. The goaltending perhaps even deeper.

 

Cat, you're lookin at Provorov, Ghost, Sanheim, Morin, Hagg, and Myers as your defensive core in two years. At least 4 of them will be there next season.
If one or two busts, Alt and Friedman are there.

Who knows if they all pan out, but it's reason to be optimistic. Our 5th best defensive prospect is top 2 in many farms.

Also, this kind of reminds me of Duck hockey the way Hexy is building.

Similar to the Kings of years past, too. Stacked the D, and filled in winners as needed at the forward position via trade and free agency when they were ready to be serious.

and after the sophomore jinx of a season from ghost...i don't trust anyone to be a lock now. what a clusterfuck of a season he had. i posted an article about ghost on the Flyers thread. It's well informed and long. Some think Hakstol is the issue with his decline in development?

and yes i agree the cupboard is deep and well stocked. goalies are even deeper so i agree there and it's easy to replace wingers, but WILL HE? will he pull off a big trade? will he open the checkbook to get a top FA when the time or team needs one like right freaking now or when the kids arrive and the team is contending? those are the unknowns i don't like bc he hasn't done it in the past. he plays close to vest on money, trades and FA signees. that track record worries me.
