Buffalo Sabres will hire Penguins Associate General Manager Jason Botterill as their new General Manager.

    Maybe Tocchet as the coach.

Love having Botterill. The more I looked into the candidates that interviewed the more there was to like about him. It's icing on the cake that he skated for the Sabres.

Phil Housley is who I still want at HC. Perhaps the best offensive defenseman ever. Now he's coaching the best offensive defensive unit in the playoffs. Hell, he's like Lindy except he has a whole lot more polish on everything about him.

^^^ i think the whole reason to have his son, Jason, be a diver was so they could put in that scene. a classic.

He is supposedly salary cap wizard so congrats on stealing him away.

Maybe they have better hotdogs in D.C. so he wanted a game 7.

They need to feed the Phil or fill the Phil... It would be great to see the bench during the game... they would pan left to right and everyone is hitting their water bottle except Phil is putting mustard on a hotdog. That would be cool!

    Tru Dat

DC does have a fine selection of hot dogs and international cuisine compared to Pit (I say that as fact having absolutely no idea about dining in the greater Armpittsburgh area)

Thinking about that expansion, I have always associated the "modern NHL" with the addition of the 2nd six.

I think that's a mistake given all the relocation, dissolution, and disasters in the league during the expansion era following initial expansion until the addition of SJ.

I think the "Modern NHL" should be the time following the addition of SJ when TV money was the driver of league policy, labor fights were coming to a head, and the fall of the Iron curtain brought over so many great players.

Just a thought, I haven't really considered the time to call "modern" other than initial expansion. The game didn't resemble the game or the business in the 60s, 70s, or 80s, so it seems like a flawed title to call any of that modern.

I expect Boston and Leaf fans to be on board as it would obliterate what remains of the Habs' comparisons to teams of today.

C'mon, NYR, take this one to 7. I'm with Catfish - more hockey!!!

You officially sold me with that last paragraph Robert. Was already leaning that way, take out early Habs dominance and I'm diving in the deep end.

On board with this too, game 7s are the best.

AV's team sucked on the dot and throughout, kreider had plenty of chances, but the big armed dude couldn't find the net. I enjoyed watching, eff Melnyk.

    Fucking Senaturds...????

Yeah, I didn't see that one. Nice year for crazy Gene and his merry minions. Nice payoff on the Boucher gamble too.
