Grabovski bought out. This means that they now overpay Bozak and try to land a high price UFA. Clarkson makes me nervous but he would make sense.

Grabovski was bought out? I didn't know but that can't be too much of a surprise. On the right team he's capable of being a good player but not a 5 * 5.5 guy, that's a huge overpayment for what he can do for that Leafs team. As for Bozak, he's supposedly asking for 8 years at 5 million per season. I'll be very surprised if the Leafs even come close to those numbers. I remember their new GM being asked a couple times about Bozak and both times responding with the same answer. He said he wants Bozak but the deal has to make sense. I don't see how 8 years at 5 million makes sense.

I have this feeling July 5th will be a pretty slow day. Too many average hockey players wanting to be paid like really good ones and too many good ones want to be paid like they are superstars.

 

Grabo's buyout is good in a sense that now when they sign bozak, he can't use his stats up against what they pay grabo, burke messed up on that one.

Patrick Elias signs a 3 year deal at a $5.5 cap hit. 3 years is lunacy. Elias still getting it done but 37 and 3 years is not a good mix.

In boring news, Leddy extended for 2 years for too much money and the Hawks lost their goalie coach. I've been screaming about Stephane Waite for about 5 or 6 years until this year. First time I want him to stay and he's going to MTL with Bergevin. Emery can go away now, I have no use for him with a new routine.
