He's top 4 talent, but I don't think you can count on him for more than 100 games over two years. I still don't trust his health. He's not Colaiacovo, but he's still a big risk, that's probably a reason why he loitered on the market for so long.

I've heard rumors that Grabo is dealing with some sort of GI issue and it's been a problem for well over a year. I don't know what's going on there. I don't trust Lennie very much. Maybe Skinny knows something about it.

    SKINNY!!!

He has admitted to biting people...might have something to do with the GI issue.

    Sorry...

  5. Jurco just needs a little more meat on his bones and he'll be a really good NHL player. He's a bit undersized for his height right now.

Colorado, home of the avs, you'd think that the hockey fans there would want to be watching the game, but, they have fireworks on instead of the game. Seattle, bidding for a new franchise, most likely picking up the cbc feed anyways, but the nbc affiliate is showing reruns of LA Law, now you wonder why the nba has better ratings.

If he's really top 4 talent and it's only a 2 year deal I'll take my chances. As long as we're lucky enough that he's healthy in the playoffs that's good enough for me. Detroit just has way too many questions in their top 6. After Kronwall and Ericsson I'm not sure who else I trust. The upside is definitely there with players like DeKeyser, Lashoff and Brenden Smith. And if they all blossom very quickly the Wings could surprise some people and contend. But when 1 or 2 don't, who else do the Wings really have? Quincey? Kindl ? No thanks.......

I have to laugh with Tort's saying the twins will be pen killing. I think this is a subtle way of saying you are not on the top line. Kesler will get more chances to score instead of being AV's workhorse. I have to like change, it is written in stone that I'm impressed with Tort's abilility to change my thinking of him. Why do I see Keenan 2.0...wait, I am totally behind this move...unfortunately way behind. I guess this off-season will be full of up and downs for nuck fans. I'm not low at the moment, but I don't see the Nucks as a better team yet. Until then, more glass pounding on Bob's windows!

Skinny, how dare you underestimate White in a full season. He should be the frontrunner for the ...

Grabovski was a horrible mistake of a deal, and that's why now they're dealing phaneuf, they can't afford to make another mistake like that.

Burke made some great trades, with lupul and gardiner, but his signings were horrible. Yes, he said he could've gotten 5 first rounders one year.

I think you had me mixed up with redwings.

  16. Who thinks Rask is worth 39 million over 6 seasons at a 6.5 cap hit?? I think that's a little steep. I'll ask the same question here I asked people on CBS. If the Leafs don't crumble in the first round in game 7 against the Bruins, is Rask still asking for that kind of money? With a pretty darn good defense in front of him he put up some numbers. But his save percentage this year was 92.9. Howard's on a team with nowhere near the defense Rask had this year was 92.3. Howard was going to be an UFA. Rask is a RFA. If I didn't think Howard should get 5.5 over 6, I sure can't go with Rask getting 6.5 over 6.

For that system, I think it's a huge mistake to give that much money. The market says he should be seeing money around Howard's range though.

The agent, Zito has done well for his clients in recent years. It will be interesting to see how it plays out with Chiarelli.
I'm cheering for Chiarelli in this fight, I hope he pushes it to arbitration myself.

Until scoring comes back up in the league, I don't like seeing goalies make more than 5 unless they can handle 65 starts. I think Howard can, I'm not sure about Rask.

Spend the money on scoring, everybody can defend these days.

  19. agreed, howie is the new kipper. he can play a ton of games.

i personally think tuukka is worth 8.25 million a year for 10 years. make it happen, guys :)

I agree 100 percent. Even though if I compare goalies I'm not sure how Rask if would do as well with Detroit's defense and system as he did in Boston after winning a cup and putting big numbers up denying him the money Howard got might be tough to do. But anything more then that in my opinion is way too risky. I'm very curious to see what Chiarelli is going to do with this one. Another very important thing to remember is Holland had to deal with a goalie becoming an UFA where Rask is a RFA who definitely doesn't have the same leverage Howard's agent did.

The only thing that could screw Chiarelli is an offer sheet coming Rask's way. In an offer sheet 5.5 and 6.5 are the same number when it comes to compensation, it's a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick as compensation. The kicker though is whoever signs him would need to have those draft picks available and at least per the old NHL CBA rules the team had to have their own picks available and not somebody elses selections. I doubt anybody signs Rask to an offer sheet for that kind of money
