Kane won Conn Smythe because of "out of town stupid". Most of them probably didn't see anything the first 10 games of the Hawks postseason run, Kane was excellent but had some stinkers. I don't like goalies getting the award, but he deserved it ahead of Kane.

Every single member of the Chicago media, most of whom have been extremely critical of Crawford, voted for Crow. Keith might have had a chance had he not been suspended.

Last year and 2010 kind of had some fluky teams in the postseason. Chicago had a bunch of guys on EL contracts or initial extensions and had a big gamble on Hossa and Campbell at the time. PHI had the Pronger gamble and an unrealistic run by a number of players.

I say 2012 was a little fluky because LA wouldn't have made the Carter trade if Lombardi was stable in his job or if Sutter paid any attention to the offensive zone and because that blueline had no business staying healthy for the entire run. NJ only had 3 lines. Not Lou's fault, bad owner.

2011 had 2 very well built teams with smart contracts and extensions imo.

I thought the same about this year. 2 very well built and maintained teams. I like that, keeps me more interested in the offseason.

Curious trend in the cup finals has been the horrific pps on the last 3 cup teams. Wonder if it keeps up.

Speaking of injuries. Marty "Dr" Havlat had surgery.

Rumors of injuries to Seguin, Jagr, and Chara starting come out, not sure what yet.

Can't say I saw all of the Hawks games but saw most of them. Crawford was deserving in my mind. Kane too.

The Chara BS w/ Toews in front of the net was stupid. Maybe Z was trying to get some sort of revenge on Toews for embarrasing him on the goal that tied it at 1.

Rene Rancourts fist pumping is getting out of control. Maybe not getting, has already gotten out of control. Still not as bad as his voice though.

4? Things hadn't gone well when he went after 2. Hopefully he comes back to earth or retires.

Good luck and best wishes with the little one Matty.

    I'm just kidding Rediiis.

After missing a matchup 2 years in a row with Vancouver, I'm not sure how much hatred is there.

Maybe Handzus wasn't diving. I wonder if that MCL tear contributed to him going down easy.

  10. Believe it or not what I enjoyed the most about last night's post game action was the interview they did with Jamal Mayers. The guy is a fighter who doesn't get a lot of minutes or really any playoff time in this year's playoffs but his attitude was awesome. He couldn't be happier the he was last night and for a guy most people wouldn't think is that bright he sure is extremely well mannered and well spoken. He appears to be a very intelligent person, that's for sure. I love that Toews promised him he would be one of the first players to get his hands on the cup too. That's some pretty good stuff.

As for Chara and his style of play, I don't like it at all. Is he a great dman? Sure he is, he's had a great career to say the least. But I hate the constant cheap shots more then anything. I have a lot of respect for the Bruins organization but there are at least 4 or 5 players on that team I can't stand because it can be dangerous to be on the ice with some of them at the same time. Not a Chara fan... and certainly not a fan of Marchand at all who reminds me so much of Matt Cooke it's not even funny.

I cheered hard for the Hawks last night because I always want skill to beat out the rough and crazy style the Bruins use to win games. Yes, they have a lot of talent too, I'm not saying they don't. But as I've gotten older I don't like the dirty stuff. Rough and clean is one thing, rough and dirty is what i hate. One of my favorite goals of this year's playoffs is when Toews fought off Chara in front of the net in O.T and screened Rask just enough for the Hawks to score a goal and win the game. Toews is a little smaller then Chara and not quite as strong but the heart he showed in that play made it tough not to cheer for the Hawks in this series. When the Hawks tied it up last night I almost woke my wife up out of a dead sleep... she kinda turned a little bit and I quickly shut up to avoid the storm that was gonna hit me if I wake her. But when the Hawks scored again my "Yes" was a tad to loud... I'm lucky she didn't kill me.

  11. Considering only 8 players on this year's roster were on the cup winning team from such a short time ago I don't think anybody can say Stan hasn't done a fantastic job in Chicago. And unlike their previous GM not only did he find a way to bring another cup to Chicago but the way he built this team they should remain contenders for at least a few more years too. Even his dad Scotty said in an interview he didn't expect a Stanley Cup winner in Chicago so soon after their last victory. Even he expected it would take a little longer then it took to get the job done again.

  12. Stan can get some credit but when the smartest man to ever be involved in hockey is YOUR DAD, I gotta think hes gonna be good. no way he cant

    .......now bring back Dale Tallon

  13. havent looked and not to rain on your parade(no pun intended) Bob but is this team gonna stay intact? anyone you think will leave. the last time you guys won everyone wanted more money and the team was dismantled. you guys are in a much better situation now so that shouldnt happen but some people are gonna be looking at $$$$$$ after another Cup win

  14. Roszival, Bickell, Stalberg and Handzus - nope your good

Leddy and Emery are the only ones id be lookin at. what a role reversal for the cancer Ray Emery, sounds like he was a model citizen and totally bought into the program. I thought that signing would be one you'd regret but.....

  15. I'm not Bob but I think I can say the Hawks are loaded for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. Aside from Bickell who I'm positive they'll want to re-sign after a great playoff season the Hawks I think have everybody that matters under contract for next season. It's the 2014-15 season where they have to start getting a little more creative and where they'll need more money to get everybody signed. But if the cap goes up significantly that year as some people are saying the timing will be perfect for the Hawks and maybe they'll be able to sign players like Crawford, Bolland and Hjalmarsson to new deals. Not to mention kids like Saad will get raises as well.

P.S How did the Hawks get Jimmy Hayes from the Leafs? I didn't know the Leafs were the team that drafted him. From what I read about his play and his stats he looks like a promising young player. Do the Leafs hold onto ANY good prospects?

    Aint that something...Luango in Philly?

  17. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I like him, I did from day one. This win will help get him out of his Dad's shadow and should clearly (because I'm told things are clear often, especially opinions) separate Stan from Dale.

I wish I had a list of hardcore Hawks fans saying Florida would get to the finals before Chicago with Dale at the helm, even as late as last summer.

Hell no!!! Take him in Detroit as an asst gm, or better yet, use him to replace Dellevano.

  18. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

Blues sign Patrik Berglund to a 1 year extension rumored to be in the $3-3.375 range.

  19. i'm gonna give homer a bit of credit here.

there's a quote i've heard attributed to Henry Ford, altho i can't find confirmation on it anywhere *SCRATCH*

    it goes something like this:

a great man makes decisions quickly and only changes his mind slowly.

to me, that translates to "a great man jumps to conclusions and then stubbornly refuses to admit it."

homer screwed the pooch when he signed him, at least he's got the stones to admit it.

  20. lol @ hardcore hawks fans. same guys who couldn't figure out why a habs fan was cheering for the hawks? :)
