  1. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Kane is the 3rd straight American to win the Conn Smythe and 1st American forward. thought that was interesting.

congrats to the Hawks and their fans, hard fought and well deserved. the one good thing I can take away from these playoffs is now I know the Wings lost to the best team in the league

  3. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

    Bruins blew the game,
    Hawks earned the series.

As for Bruins fans throwing Tuukka under the bus, they can all go dust off their Red Sox lids and pretend to be a fan of the Sox now too. Short memory they must forget Blaine Lacher, Mike Bales, Matt Delgudice, Jim Carey, Evgeni Ryabchikov, John Blue, Rob Tallas, Jeff Hackett, John Grahame, Hannu Toivenen, Manny Fernandez, and Steve Shields of note recently.

Nice quick shot from Odyua on the gwg and beauty tip from Frolik and great positioning from Bolland. Boychuk will have nightmares about that until the day he dies.

Ferrence gone....but not forgotten. Played well here and seems like a great guy. Time to move on.
What Tuomo will make is the key question for the Bruins moving forward.
    Horton probably gone.

so Jim Belushi was down on the ice after the game. Thats something.

  5. those guys may be gone Matty but no way do they let Jagr go

  6. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

sort of a laugh/cry right there out of me because you might be right.

last day of work for me today and then school is out for the summer. Going to try to check in as much as possible but probably won't be here regularly, especially after the little bambino arrives. Should be about a few weeks there.

Congratulations on that matty...tip of the cap to the Bruins too, they have a fine team there in Boston.

  8. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I really hate that he's associated with Chicago. Just about everybody I know can't stand that guy, and he's not funny. He and John Cusack get themselves full access and nice seats for free from somebody whenever there's a big game.

  9. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

2nd goal seemed like more of a good play by Chicago winning the puck in the corner after Kane had everybody scrambling, but the 3rd one sure seemed like a nap for the Bruins. Too bad the 3rd goal had to be on a shift like that where the r-d just takes a nap. I didn't think he was burnt out either.

a few ex-Hawks in that list. Lots of gems.
Not sure why they're blaming Rask. Goalies get too much credit and too much blame. He was good in the series overall and had an excellent playoff run. Too bad that he's getting blamed. He's a tough player to like though. He's got Jagr-mouth with his comments.

It was nice execution, but it wasn't supposed to work. Bolland used his opossum technique to make Boychuk drowsy. Too bad Boychuk blew that. Julien switched his pairs, it wasn't as if he had a long shift, plenty of time between shifts for him because of the 2nd goal.
Why do you call him Tuomo, lol? It will be interesting to see which players stay and leave. Chiarelli has to sign a few dmen, should be interesting. Rask will be making many pesos for many moons.
    .
Probably best that he is. He'll get too much money for the risk.

Load up on the bad movies to watch when the bambino is up at 2 am. Great opportunity to catch up on the bad movies and documentaries you've missed the last 10 years. Start by order "the last gladiators" (Cutter!!!), and round it out with a Donald Sutherland and Bruce Willis theme for good measure.

I hope for Bruins fans' mental health that Jagr goes away. Legs and hands have too big a gap from his brain now. I don't think he'll be able to just simplify his game enough to be effective.

Great season (even though it was short) for the NHL. 3 of the 4 biggest markets for revenue growth made the CF or better. Crazy streaks during the regular season got the league some huge headlines in every outlet.

Canadians can have Canada teams in the finals after more U.S. markets are developed a little better.

With Boston and Chicago going to the finals, it will certainly pump up league revenue more than most matchups. I wonder how many players on those teams will be in the olympics. Looks like a ton. German, Latvian, Swede, U.S., Can, Slovak, and Czech. No Fins or Russians on those two teams of note.

  13. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

I understand why you might think that but I see it as him being extremely matter of fact. Sometimes sounds like he might be throwing his Dmen under the bus but I think he doesn't have the filter capabilities. He just tells the media what he saw. He most often leads off by saying that he should've had that shot or been quicker to the post or whatever. Just my take.

If you check out the Vezina thread here on Mudncleats you'll see where Tuomo came from.

switched the pairs but kept the same line out up front, not blaming them though. As you said the 2nd Chi goal of the game was a nice play out of the corner and the 3rd was just a well executed hockey play. they happen. tough when it happens the way it did.

worried about the extremely short summer and the way the losing Cup teams have played the following season.

Is that a done deal of having the NHL players in the Olympics? Or is it still an unresolved issue? Im not clear on this yet.

  15. skinny123 Guest

Not a done deal yet, but it looks like it should be a go.

  16. hope you check back often Matty and best wishes on the newest Bruin fan

  17. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

Appreciate the well wishes guys. If this little lady chooses to play hockey I hope she watches Bergeron and Toews.

  18. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I can handle the filter-less mouth. It's how he come across in interviews and the hissy fits after plays he doesn't like.

ah, I didn't notice the same line out there. I assumed the defensive switch was because of the Chicago line out there. The 3rd was a well executed play, but I put more of that on Boychuk than Chicago, I don't think Bolland was supposed to be there and Rask didn't give up the goal on the redirect. It was a shame. Of course, since Boychuk chooses to make hits instead of playing the puck so often, I'm glad it was him instead of some of the other players.

Hangovers may be bad, but I think rehad from injuries is going to be worse.

  19. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

As long as she's not watching Lucic.

  20. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Speaking of Lucic. One of my favorite moments of the series (as a hockey fan, not a Hawks fan), was when Crawford misplayed the puck and Lucic was completely focused on skating hard to the puck instead of worrying about contact and it set up the play that lead to the Bruins' 2nd goal. I loved watching that (the voices didn't care for it). I like when playing hockey beats playing crash into people. Of course my appreciation of that play went away when Chara did that bull#### push in the back putting Toews into the goal post. If Toews wasn't balanced to start that, something really bad could have happened to him. I was a little sick of Chara's loose elbows and shady contact in games 5 and 6.

Marchand, Shaw, Thornton, Bolland really hung up their azzhats and diving suits for this series. Shocked there wasn't more drama.

    More injuries:

Bickell grade 2 MCL tear, I guess Q wasn't expecting him to be available
Handzus had an MCL tear and has a broken wrist (explains that 0-10 game on the dot and diminishing speed).
Shaw forgot his name already, good thing he's drinking his nurishment. I'll bet the NHL tv production staff was giving each other high-fives for doing an NHL 36 on Shaw after he was bleeding all over the place. I have a feeling Shaw will not be voted the NHL's most handsome man in a few years.
Toews had his "bell rung". Probably a sweaty head according to Carlyle.
Not sure what they're going to do about Hossa's slipped disc.

Should learn more about the Bruins injuries the next day or two.

Always fascinating putting the games into context with the injuries the guys are playing through.

I'm getting pumped up for offseason overreactions.
