  1. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

I respectfuly disagree...there is plenty of room for Pavel to get a little raise and not have it hurt the advancement of the team. One shouldnt look at the age, but the productivity on the ice... Pavels numbers arnt to shaby---
This season, Datsyuk led the Red Wings in scoring with 49 points while playing all but one game. In 14 playoff games, Datsyuk had nine points.---

Holland will make it work out financialy and look pretty good doing it imo. Was it an expensive investment?...hell yes. But, you get what you pay for. Im not exactly impressed with all the moves or lack of moves Holland makes and I am a fan of him, for the record...but keeping Dats around for 4 years is good. A happy Dats is a productive Dats :)

If he was going to be a 30 goal guy, wouldn't we have seen it in the jrs at least. He had nice numbers, but he wasn't an explosive offensive talent. He notched 28 when PHI was flying all over the place scoring at an unsustainable pace with new lines that the league hadn't seen before. If he's a 25 goal guy, that's great, but I don't think there are enough goals or playmakers to go around. I don't think he's going to be a strong enough finisher. I won't be shocked if he scores 30 once in a Laviolette system but I will be shocked if he scores more than 25 three times.

Bickell is a myth on a hot streak. If Chicago keeps him, it's going to be because they don't trust JHayes or Morin and it will likely be a bad contract.

Thanks to the hard work of those assho33s in congress they passed a bill pretty much letting anybody with military affiliation do whatever the F### they want to do during the anthem. Off duty military can salute in street clothes too if they feel like standing out. That would have been nice, much easier to troll around for free beer a while back. Nothing wrong with the writing in the bill other than it being a giant waste of time and a distraction.

Just part of this disturbing and ongoing trend of bull#### to put warm fuzzies and sunshine on a line of work with the most serious of direct and indirect consequences because of actions at all levels. Great, vets and active military can do whatever they want for the anthem, how about using the time on part of a bill to fix one of the hundreds of issues that would actually improve somebody's quality of life.

I'm in favor of scrapping anthems at the start of games to be honest, a few care about the intended purpose (the generally agreed upon purpose), most just pat themselves on the back or follow the herd. The yelling at the UC doesn't bother me in the slightest, people are there for a hockey game and most of them act like it, while the ones that care still really get to care. Much less b.s. than just about everywhere else I've been with a full house. I like this country because of its vast ditches and because if somebody doesn't want to give a crap about something over selfish interests, they don't have to.

I'm not a fan of insincere or ignorant patriotism....but I digress. Sorry, voices got me again.

Make that clown stop singing please.

Weiss' name keeps coming up in all the trade rumors. meeting with Dale.

Wonder if we'll see a sign and trade so that Tallon gets to get a return on their guy since he completely botched how he handled that guy. Tor, Det, and others in the mix according the rumors from various unreliable sources.

Corban Knight just finished at UND, and Feaster snagged his rights for a 4th. Too many centers in Florida's system. Seems like a low cost depth option in a couple years. I think Tallon was having a tough time signing him or just had a brainfart. Picks outside of the top 100 are worth less and less by the year it seems.

  5. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Bernier rumors are interesting. He's being openly shopped it seems. Wonder if Simmonds will go back to LA for him. Lombardi needs big tough wings with Capt Flapjacks on the way out and guys like Williams with unknown shelf-lives at the wing.

Couture is on a 5 yr by 6 million extension.

Quality work by Wilson to lock him up on that deal. Keeps the options of trading him open while still paying him like the top line talent he is.

Q says it's likely Hossa will play tomorrow. Lots of speculation about the injury. Hopefully it was just swelling or painful stiffness. MOAR Helpers for Hoss.

Does Halo go to the games to sell helpers?

  7. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Oh yeah, the battle for the trade to get Knight's rights was a fight between EDM and CGY.

Chalk up MacTavish for a loss already. Hahaha, your ditch is waiting, don't step on Tambellini on the way over to it.

    Triangle head gets 3 x 7.5

Too bad it's not 2 years for Detroit fans. Not sure of the salary structure yet. Either way, good to have him around to minimize how badly the prospects fall short of expectations.

I'm thinking about the Hawks pp.

I'm laughing and crying at the same time. Similar feeling to seeing my Ash trees cut down. They look like crap and I hate them but now I don't have them and the sun just cooks the house since I face west.

Can't bring myself to call Q to tell him that he should decline the penalties or that he should send out Bolland in his zone to flip the puck over the glass at first chance when up a man.

  11. I disagree here. Simmonds may be slightly overpaid but hes young and we havent seen the best of him yet. as far as Hartnell goes hes getting probably only a few hundred thousand per more than Fillpulla will get. sorry but Hartnell brings much more to the table and if that is market value for a quality 2nd liner then thats not as bad of a deal as you may think. I love Pronger and hope I see him again dont think I will but as Ive said before when that contract was signed it was not a bad deal. it was market value then for a guy who was still in the top 5 Dmen. how is it holmgrens fault that Pronger comes up gimpy for two years. yeah its risky to give that kinda money out to an older player but what do you think the Wings will do with Datsyuk - same thing. the Pronger deal looks bad now but its easy to say that after the fact. If you want to make someone the poster boy then look no further than Briere

  12. k just seen the Datsyuk stuff. 3 for 7.5.....I wouldve liked 6 or 6.5 but we have to have him, I take back all the 'hes returning to Russia' stuff - ahh humble pie is good. Ill take a slice of that in this case, I like Dats a lot happy to see him return *DRINK*

  13. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

On Pronger. I loved the move, I loved the gamble. It ended terribly, it's a bad move at the end of the day. I liked the move but that doesn't mean it was ever a good idea. Smart gms avoided that scenario.

It had disaster written all over it. When he did it, my thought were along the lines of "that's awesome, that's just what they need to take the next step, holy crap is that going to end in a disaster". The disaster came a year or two earlier than most would have predicted. It was an extremely high risk swing for the fences. Not just the contract, Holmgren gave up a ton just to get the right to sign him to a bad contract. Lupul, Sbisa, 2 firsts for Pronger and trash. He gutted depth and cap space for years for what most thought would be 3 shots at a ring.

I like Simmonds, I don't think his contract is that bad on it's own. On PHI, for that roster, for their structure, I think it's a waste of talent and cap space. He's redundant and is not a natural scorer.

I had no idea if Datsyuk was going to Russia or staying in the states.
2 years ago I thought he was staying for certain, and I really thought it was a toss up because of health and competition in Russia last year. I've gone back and forth for a long time whether or not I thought he was go to Russia or stay. Only CBA rules that we didn't know about kept me from having a real strong opinion one way or the other.

I thought it was very likely that he go to Russia only to come back shortly. If I had to bet, that's what I would have probably wagered on. He would sign a KHL contract and then come back within a year just because of the competition in the NHL.

  15. I don't want to say "I told you so", but I told you so :p *YAHOO*

Datsyuk says thank you Detroit, any irony that theres lots of green here?

  17. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

    Voynov 6 for 25.

Nice cap hit, smart extension for Lombardi. Dmen with a shot start at 4 million, Dmen that can play 20 min and skate start at 3.5 million. He's good at both. I think he'll have some ugly stretches the next 2 years but I think he'll be a bargain by year 2 or 3. Nice long term signing by Lombardi, the guy is amazing at evaluating young talent, still has his other issues...like that coach of his.

  18. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

Love that Voynov deal for LA.

Datsyuk worth every dime even over that term.

Thought that Pronger deal was ludicrous when it was signed. The term was stupid at that stage. Homer being Homer I guess.

Think Bernier would be a score for the right team. Philly always in the discussion but what about Edm, Calg, or Pho?

I was looking at the old ditch Lulz linked for us. It's funny, I had similar thoughts on Q and the Hawks pp 2 weeks before the playoffs:
