Take it w/ a grain of salt, Tony Amonte says that he has 'connections' in the Hawk organization and that Hossa's injury is his groin. If thats true its bad news for him, no quick fix shoot em up there.

He took a shot during warmups and then bolted to the dressing room.

Shoulder, wrist, hand, or elbow. If it's anything other than a shoulder, he's no longer an offensive threat.

  3. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

If it is the groin, ruh roh.

    That would be a surprise.

this is the thing w/ the Bruins though bob, they'll play a solid inside/out game like last night and then just stop skating w/ about 10 mins left in the game and start giving up garbage goals.

This is much better than I thought. 4 years is much better than 5. Of course that cap hit is a real kick in the
I think Briere and Bryz have to be bought out now. Snider loves throwing cash away....thought they would wait.

Then they'll be down to a bad Simmonds contract and a bad Hartnell contract and a bad Streit contract.

Summer overage already an issue because of Pronger's contract.

Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, and Read up for extensions...I hope they don't let Holmgren sign them.

If Streit gets that at 35 I can only imagine what Giroux will get. Im not sold that the Simmons deal is a bad one yet bob. I like his game and agree he is overpaid but I think he's still improving and that might be cheap money in a few years.

I was hoping for those. Last night Chicago was just a mess in all areas. They woke up with 8 minutes left but didn't do anything before then. Bolland removed all hope with another bad penalty, his third. He was -1 with 3 minors and 1 of 8 in faceoffs. I wouldn't really care about the -1 but since he, Roszival, and Smith were very responsible for the first one I thought it was significant.

The only happy time for me was Chara losing it on Bickell and Marchand losing it on his stick. Everything else pretty much sucked.

Finally, the majority of Hawks fans heard my call (from 2010) to get Bolland out of here. He was complete garbage, singlehandedly set the stage for Boston to score both goals.

New anthem clown for Rene please. Clown boy needs to go away. It gets worse every time I hear it, at least he's quicker than most. I worry for his health when he starts talking about rockets and what not.

I was expecting the series to be 2-1 for Boston at this point. If Hawks are down Hossa, winning game 4 isn't an option. Toews injured on the hands/arms or between the ears. Roszival, Seabrook, and Handzus skating with concrete skates. Hawks better adjust for game 4.

Giroux is getting huge money x 8, should be funny. A dozen gms are sweating that contract.

Simmonds is 25 in August, he's redundant because of Hartnell, and his hands won't get quicker and his offense won't get more consistent. If he bulks up much, he'll probably lose a step. He has 5 full NHL seasons under his belt, I think we've seen what he'll give. Can't pay a guy like Hartnell AND Simmonds that much in my opinion. They are both on top 6 contracts but there's no room for both of them in the top 6 if they want to win. Holmgren can't afford to overpay.

Why I absolutely hate it (rare exceptions) when goalies get so much credit during a postseason:

Look where Chicago's shots came from. Similar picture for most games.

Very interesting and good point bob. If you draw a vertical line down through the dot's at each end of the ice...the Bruins had about 23 shots compared to the Hawks 5. Very telling graph. Bruins definitely had the advantage big time with quality chances. Q and Crawford should hang a chart like that up in the locker room. Good stuff.

Hawks can get shots off from the middle but it reflects a lack of patience and willingness to pay the price as much as it reflects Boston's defence. They pass it around instead of flipping it towards the net too often. It's a system flaw too, Boston collapses so Chicago has to give up the puck to fight for a goofy bounce and they are reluctant to because it means Boston could clear the zone. Even though they know the middle won't open up, they refuse to give up the puck...and they're losing it anyway.

It's a game of square-peg round hole and I saw this coming. They will adjust offensively, the problem is that losing a guy like Hossa makes it much more difficult in all game situations since he's a beast on the backcheck and on the puck. He corrects or compensates for a bunch of mistakes elsewhere, and he has a little skill.

I wish we had a clue about his injury.

Lots of other news around the league.

Detroit close to 3yrs with Datsyuk
Couture and SJ locked up, waiting for terms.

  14. i wonder if "sports blog" was one of them that finally heard. during game 2, he was repeatedly saying how bolland was in the same class as bergeron.

i like it. i was guessing 2 years.

  15. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

he's just the worst. and his nose gets more red every day...hair too. his voice is so bad its almost a slap in Merica's face.

as for Simmonds, I think he's a solid 30 goal guy moving forward. He's very streaky and with experience he should gain consistency. Think you're right about he and Hartnell being redundant.

see I love it when 'big guys' mix it up w/ Chara. He seems to put them in their place for a while....not that Bickell's played like a big guy at all this series anyway.

the most valuable Bruin is Chara, hands down. Would be in real trouble w/out Tuukka and Bergeron but they would be completely lost w/out Chara. Hoping he can stick around for a few more seasons and help the young D progress. He is the best defenseman in the league in terms of helping your team win in all facets on the ice. He doesn't get his due. Keep your Letangs and Subbans.

  16. yes, rene is a terrible singer. i don't care how much the crowd likes his fist pumping, the guy is a joke in the context they use him. and it's not a good joke.

  17. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

its an inside joke that no one gets. Ive been of the 'rene needs to go' camp for years. most people around here love him though. doesn't speak well of my people around here.

  18. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

I do love Jim Cornelison. Such a big dude w/ matching pipes. Whats w/ the military guys always keeping their hats on next to him?

  19. no idea who jim is, so i'll take your word for it :)

maybe the Kings will start having Cartman sing the anthem for them. :|

  20. Datsyuk contract?
My god, it starts when he is 36, hits the cap for 7.5 mil a year. . . .
