Will-the others leaving this site, Matty, Halo, Red and others probably had nothing to do with skinny using the term "masshole."
Your missing the point too. Of course Skinny's use of that word had nothing to do with those guy's, wtf, who said it did? The one exception is Matty and id bet if he were here and maybe later he will be he might just express how he feels being lumped in with 'masshole'.
That's BS too... words cut worse than a knife. Id have rather been beatin with a hundred baseball bats than to have experienced some of the shit loved ones have said to me in the past. On the internet, words build your character... that's all you got is word based character, so how can you belittle that?
By the way, fuck the rest of this convo! Im not interested in continuing this . WE should edify and lift each other up and enjoy sports conversation... name calling is for 'ASSHOLES' period!
On the internet, words build your character... that's all you got is word based character, so how can you belittle that? Very well said by Will........WORDS speak VOLUMES about your character.
Nobody is attacking anybody personally, it's just a joke. If lava attacks ontario, I wouldn't take it personal. Cyber bullying is a whole different matter. I've known matty for ten years here and have never said anything personally insulting to him or his family. I was just picking up on that masshole joke that all-pgh mentions to him.
It doesnt bother me, I use Masshole a lot in forums but its more for the fun of it or making jest. the stereotype is largely lazy and outdated and its fun to perpetuate i think. its one of those terms that really only people outside of this area use, similar to Beantown. I can say without hesitation that Ive never heard a local actually use the word Beantown. i was just curious about the Masshole theory, still not sure what that is. is it that people from this area fit in to those stereotypes written by that food critic? where are JR and Millbury on there?
i know in the tv show MASH a character on the show would ask Charles Emmerson Winchester the Third about "Beantown" and he hated and loathed the term.
Boston is like Philly in the sense that the overall term is Boston or Philadelphia as the whole city, but it's really broken down to many areas within that city. Philly has Somerton, NE Philly, Kensington, Morrell Park, Port Richmond, South Philly, Juniata, Frankford, etc. Boston has Southie, Harvard, Cambridge, Worcester, Charlestown, etc.
youre all over the map catfish. Harvard isnt an area within Boston, its in Cambridge and Worcester is 45 minutes west.
but people associate harvard with boston or being near boston, isn't it? I don't know where Charlestown is located, but it's associated with the town of Boston isn't it? i've seen many tv shows and movies that do this. anything even closely related to that area is being from the boston area.
yes Harvard is a school with in Boston, its in Cambridge. It's not a subset of the city tho, it just resides in the city something like this. No Southie, East Boston or Cambridge in here tho.
