Thanks, but I screwed up a little bit. I didn't specify that while McLellan is a coach willing to play the 4-3 game he will slot guys to get wins. The defense/structure first guys and the "slot em'" guys are not always the same. McLellan is the latter imo, but the whole topic of coaching philosophy as it relates to development overlaps so many other issues. Like I said, it's complicated and I'm still trying to get my head around all of it. It beats trying to figure out how I'm going to redo a bathroom. I just use it to for the 3Ss in a day, not really worried about appearance. Since this tasking is hanging over my head right now, I'll be thinking alot about coaching and rosters this summer.
Wouldnt Toronto be a fit? That's gotta be a primo gig up there. Maybe you addressed that, i dont know. Hard for me to back read much today.
They're in a tear down from my understanding. I think they can try to make him fit, but I don't think he's a good fit. If they miss on Babs, I would think he's a top candidate even if it's a bad idea. Given my understanding of Shanahan and his nature, I can't imagine he's fond of the idea of bringing in a coach that used to coach him. If they have a great relationship, which doesn't seem like Shanahan's style, then I can envision McLellan being paid enough to have it be worth his while.
Elliotte friedman reports - Peter Chiarelli in Edmonton meeting with the Oilers. Dont know what that means, but i will post when i find anything new.
We're back to normal. I just saw the tweet and posted it elsewhere...you had it up 15 minutes before I saw the tweet. If I only followed the Will, I could have saved my time.
I sometimes hesitate to quote a lengthy response, but you put in too much good stuff. As a coach, I think he'd be on any team's list, and I have him on my BUF list. I appreciate the insights which I was only half-ass familiar with. There is a reason I have him third and not first, and you've helped me articulate my thoughts better.
Shame on Laviolette for never playing Josi and Jones together during the regular season. Once they hit about 80 pts and the wheels started squeaking he should have made some changes, especially the dpairs. I'm not sure the Hawks are up 3-1 had Jones and Josi had 5 games together before now. Might be the difference in the series so far. If he and management thought they didn't have a chance in the postseason or if they just assumed Weber going down would kill them anyway, then the decision makes sense for most markets. It just seems like a foolish risk to ride into the postseason knowing your going to have pairs that literally never logged shifts together on purpose.
I wonder if Edmonton turns the corner like Burke did for Calgary. If that happens Canada might become very overly zealous and attack us or something.
what's his role gonna be? would be the best thing to happen to Edmonton in a long time if they hand him the reins. he's gotta get rid of that pedo mustache though.
i hope thats true. one less jabroni for the Broonz to hire. Tippett or McLellan?.or Cload depending on the GM. Some lennie talk out there that the Bruins would be interested in Jeff Gorton. Makes sense, he was the interim GM while the team waited for Chiarelli. For this simple reason I now want the Rags to lose.
