An empty-netter and then an even-strength. He just did a 180 and slingshotted it blindly at the net for a goal.
Leafs have a great system, they just lack NHL-caliber Dmen... it's been their kryptonite but they continue to try to fix it with over-the-hill vets hoping to strike gold. Never do. Although a couple prospects that could rise up soon.
The AHL has committed big time to the West. Five teams in CA, one in AZ, and another in CO. It cries for an 8th for division balance. (Of course Seattle may be expected to plant their farm out west [Portland?], but that's a few years from now.) So, the news out of the Vancouver organization is surprising. The Nucks top prospects play on the other side of the continent in Utica, NY. The affiliation agreement was due to expire, and we expected the empty barn in Abbotsford, BC, would become that 8th western club. Instead, the Comets have been extended for six years. A Calder Cup and a gaudy 148 game sellout record have the Nucks besotted with that old Upstate NY burg. I'm happy that Utica is being treated better than Glens Falls (Adirondack); two small towns that proved that they love hockey.
Just got in halfway through the first, Marlies vs Belleville Senators. Sandin looking ok, $10, the popcorn cost more
Timashov and Baptiste are flying out there, Lilijgren looks real smooth and ready for the big time next season. Move over Jake.
That was a collapse at the end there, not too high on the Fin goalie, Kakisuo. Lilijegren looks ready to go.
Growlers take 2-0 finals lead on Walleye... Interesting story unraveling about the Colorado Eagles keeping the ECHL Kelly Cup from last season. Their owner claims the league never responded to multiple inquiries about returning it. League says they stole it. Pretty funny situation either way.
