I have no doubt claypool will be good. I just thought Ben needed to ride the dog sled coming out of the gate until he figures out what he can do with his new 6 million dollar arm. He says he is pain free but that doesn’t mean he will come back on target right away. Maybe the tall WR and TE will help make up for some overthrown passes in the beginning.
The Falcons have STILL not officially announced any UDFA signings, which is par for the course for the organization. Unofficially, adding Jared Pinkney without using a draft pick to get him is a big help, given that they used their seventh rounder on a punter and took what appear to be big reaches with both of their fourth round picks. (Yes, I would have traded down first before taking either of them. I would have been very happy with both of those picks if they had traded down first, taken them both in the fifth and landed a few extra picks along the way.) Outside of Pinkney, the most interesting UDFA prospect that I've heard about so far is a 5' 6" wide receiver who MIGHT actually have a shot at the PR/KR role. The Falcons did not resign Kenjon Barner (who was only on a vet min contract last year) or backup returner Justin Hardy, so that competition is going to be wide open.
The Steelers are one up on the Falcons, because they haven’t come out and announced that they got their heads out of their asses yet.
Yeah, I guess Cleveland landed three in PFF's top 25 overall. Will's #11, Delpit #15 and Jordan Elliot #24.....They gave us an A+.... The Browns draft reviews have been very positive across the board, I'll give them that.
Browns are definitely in my top 5. Probably top 3 but I didn't have a thorough look at all the classes. The Pats are easily in my bottom 5 probably the Bears and Packers too. The Eagles actually are near the middle of the pack for me.
Not top3 for me but only because some teams absolutely crushed this draft. But yeah everything else I agree with you. It gives me no pleasure to do this, but you have to tip your hat to Rick Spielman. That guy understands roster building and is masterful come draft time. I have to wonder if he would get far more national love if he was in a major market. If I had to nit pick I would say I do think he indulges Zimmer's CB infatuations a little too much. 3 1st rounders & a 2nd rounder in like the last 5 years is unbalanced. But hard to be critical when you look at his all round performance. Spielman gets what GM'ing is all about and sets his team up for sustained success. So the exact opposite of the Bears who go to the playoffs once a decade and have Ryan "I can't control my boner" Pace for GM.
When the bears picked Triibs wasn’t that the last time they actually picked it player in the first rd?
No they did take Roquan Smith the year after. Some Bears fans like him but I think the jury is still very much out. There was the dickhead holdout that went on so long he missed week1 against the Packers. There was the mystery absence for a game last year that never got an explanation, and I've seen him look suspiciously like he's avoiding contact at times. Not what you want to see in any MLB but especially not a Bears MLB. One of the reasons I and so many others loved the Mack trade was cos it meant Pace couldn't flush two 1st round picks down the crapper. His 1st round selections to date: Kevin White Leonard Floyd Mitch Trubisky Noquan Smith And they were all top9 overall picks. That is horrific.
That’s worthy of walking papers. We definitely can’t bitch about Colbert in the Burgh. He has hit on close to 70% of his first rd picks. I don’t understand Roquen being so crappie, he was a stud at Georgia. Football has become a business for the players too, and they seem more concerned about money than what they accomplish on the field. It sucks when everything is more about money than the love of the game.
