Yeah lets just try some regular runs up the middle. Also Caleb isn't sharp but it's the dude's first game and the o-line is horrible.
The problem is that, and let's be real, Caleb isn't getting real coaching. Watch Hard Knocks and tell me that he's got valuable voices in his ear. Eberflus and Tyson Bagent. Awesome.
Not close, no. And it's not like the receiver in either case was stuttering, changing their path while the ball was in the air, etc. Just not close.
I was always wary of the "Caleb, what do you want?" approach to drafting this kid. I get that he's got his negotiating power / terms. But for fuck's sake, get this kid real coaching and real accountability in the building. I didn't see any of that in Hard Knocks, and it's not there on paper, at least.
That was a weird play. After Ridley got past Jaylon, Jaylon slowed a step like was watching for a comeback or back shoulder throw. Like he had Brisker over the middle. But Brisker ran with the crosser from the other side. So someone was wrong. Thank goodness that shit throw bailed them out.
