Only real bad call was the Clement catch. All season that’s a no catch. Think they didn’t want to deal with the backlash of overturning that one.
I agree I think they were told them the game unless its 100% obvious it wasnt a catch you rule it a catch.
I find it funny how many boards I have been on where people swear they are big Eagles fans and then they talk about the great coaching job Doug Peterson did
Sorry but it was a catch all day long had it been Gronk making that grab you would be saying that it was a catch too
I've since seen that it appears there were two feet inbounds as the foot that touched the line may have dragged on the dark-coloured endzone. At that point the bobble was squeezed from arm to chest and there was no NFL evidence that it ever definitely dislodged after he went OOB. That being said there is a view that replay didn't show that I think shows the ball completely away from his person, but that apparently wasn't one the officials had available. If we assume the 3rd foot (2nd foot down for recovering after bobble) dragging couldn't be indisputably overturned and that the ball being pinned throughout the process couldn't either then the only thing the league could have done was call it as stands even if we are almost certain it was loose. Overturning isn't supposed to be for 50-50 or 80-20 calls. It's supposed to be for 100% wrong calls. Looking back I gotta give kudos to the refs for doing it right by the book with the evidence they were given to review. P.S. I can't find it anymore but I saw an image that wasn't shown during the game (maybe a photographer) that showed the ball loose when he was OOB while going to ground, but apparently the refs didn't have that look.
If I’m not mistaken, Joe said it wasn’t a tv replay that he is referring to. That said I thought the tv replays showed the ball move in his arm. Maybe it was secured at an odd position, but I was pretty shocked (but happy) that one didn’t go the Patriots way like almost all close calls that go to replay. As for the second one with Ertz, I thought it was Jesse James again when I saw it live. But once they showed a replay it was clear Ertz made the transition from receiver to runner and once the ball broke the plane it was a TD.
That bolded part is likely exactly what it was. Possible toe drag on 3rd step, or 2nd after initial bobble and then that on the OOB bobble. And yes I did say it was not a replay we saw on TV. But I am not sure if it was an unaired NBC angle or from other media that I saw the ball loose. I am still looking for it. It got buried on twitter.
I have and Ertz was a runner bc he took 3 steps. James caught and was on the ground within a step and then swung his arms over the goalline and his hands and ball hit the ground. he was never a runner. I think James' play is also a TD but it's different than Ertz's bc he was a runner. James was on the ground.
For all those who think the Clement TD was wrong, look at the comment from Dean Blandino - -- he NEVER LOST CONTROL OF THE BALL ! Like I told LAJOE - he pinned it against his elbow and upper arm. He never lost it.
so? out of bounds is out of bounds. what matters is in bounds. he had it pinned to his arm while in bounds. that's why he got the call.
We are starting a pool for which underdeveloped country they are going to send the Patriots 6 times champion shirts to. Could the same country that got the 19-0 shirts get lucky again?
I can't speak for anyone else. I lived in South Philly for 12 yrs and live 20 min away from Broad Street now. Been a lifelong Phillies, Sixers, Flyers and Eagles fan. No bandwagon here. Unlike everyone else who likes the Eagles all of a sudden...I'll be at the parade tomorrow.
OOB maters if the catch process wasn't completed through the tackle/ground yet. Like I said it seems to be the right call from tv as far as needing indisputable proof, but I did see a picture of it.
